We purchased our home on 5 acres 17 years ago after moving here from Northern California. One of the first things we did was plant over 100 seedlings of hardwoods and pines. The land was pretty empty at that time! Last year we purchased the adjoining 5 acres with a mature stand of hardwoods. We are gradually upgrading and cleaning it up. Our goal is to let nature do its work while we continue to plant more trees and native flowers to enhance the beauty of our land.

We have 10 acres of open land, dotted with clusters of pine and a beautiful, natural wooded area that is home to spring flowers and small game. We are situated in farm country! Sunsets are gorgeous and the stars feel close enough to touch! There is a play yard for the young campers, volleyball and yard games for those that want to use them. This year we have expanded and added 4 more sites. We are central to lakes and rivers for fishing and boating. Crystal Mountain and Interlochen are both close by, offering culture, entertainment, golf and hiking trails. Lake Michigan and Traverse City are just short drives away. Our Fall color scenic tours are stunning. So much to see and do all around our quiet little corner.

From a grateful man
The land is beautiful. Pines wrap around each tent site like a canopy. Birds provide their songs. Edith is a kind and caring host who obviously loves her land so much that she’s opened it for others to enjoy. What a gift. If and when I’m in Buckley again, I have no doubt I’ll be reaching out to stay for as many nights as I can. Thanks Edith!

Overall it was a great experience! However, our campsite was not as private as we expected. You could not see any other campsites but the sound really traveled, and it was hard to fall asleep as other campers were chatting well into the night. It was Fourth of July weekend so neighbors were also playing loud music. I think it would be a great experience on a less crowded weekend! Edith was very accommodating and did her best to let everyone know curfew, etc. The campsites were very well maintained and the toilet was very clean!
