Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Picnic Rock Homestead is a 29 acre abundant forest of rugged terrain to explore. Picnic rock is dominated by trees and is a photographer’s paradise. This untouched forest is a wonderful spot for birdwatching, foraging, hiking, and stargazing.
In the winter there are snowshoeing opportunities January to March. We have taken some beautiful Northern Lights photos from our solar field and are in easy driving distance to Keweenaw Mountain Lodge and other prime Northern Light viewing spots.
You are welcome to collect downed wood for your camp fire. Our neighbors sell wood and thimbleberry jam and we have eggs from our chickens available for purchase.
Picnic Rock is an off grid, homestead near the Houghton County Memorial Airport and Portage Canal. Convenient to transportation for Isle Royal National Park. Explore the Keweenaw from a quiet and private basecamp. Quincy's Dining Co is just a few miles away if you want a nice meal or drinks. They have wonderful pizza.
