Each year gets better!
Third year at this cabin, and each year continues to amaze. The seclusion the land offers is a real treat, and Craig and family are ideal hosts. Hiking, kayaking, swimming, lounging in the sauna - what more can you ask for on a property?! We did a day trip up to Painted Rocks and Munising (at the recommendation of the hosts), and also went swimming in Lake Michigan in Manistique. This retreat is a great way to getaway from the busyness of the city. We'll be back next year!

Great stay
Very nice people that communicated well. Beautiful location. Kids loved the adventure of solar power and no water. Only thing I was worried about was sleeping on the top bunk 🙂

We had a lot of fun at the cabin! It was too cold to swim in May but we loved the view of the lake, especially during the sunset. The cabin was great and the hosts were very nice!

Wonderful slice of Heaven :)
Our stay was wonderful! We had beautiful weather, perfect for kayaks, sitting by the fire, relaxing in our hammock, and just taking in nature. When other reviews or the description says you only need to bring food and clothes, it’s not lying! We had a family of 5, so we packed quite a bit of stuff, but the cabin has most everything you could need. Firewood, dishes, bedding, even towels. Games and coloring stuff for the kiddos, kayaks and lifejackets, toilet paper, lol. It was pretty wonderful. We didn’t get to use the sauna as it was a little too warm, but next time we will! The hosts were so friendly and showed us around their farm and we got to pet all the animals. The bugs weren’t bad at all, my kids were in the woods a bunch and in the long grass and we didn’t see one tick, there were a few mosquitoes but not enough to bother us, and also some horseflies. My husband said he got bit a couple times but there weren’t many at all. It was very comfortable and very relaxing! Don’t go expecting to swim though, except for smaller kiddos, as even in the middle of the lake, it’s maybe waist deep, but it was absolutely perfect for kayaking plus there are many places around to swim! We would definitely love to visit again and have already recommended it to many friends/family who were interested. Many great sights nearby to visit or perfect just to stay and relax and not go anywhere. Overall an amazing piece of the U.P.

Such a great stay! Host was super welcoming and helpful, and provided lots of wonderful amenities. Property felt secluded yet Craig was a text away if we needed anything. The gorgeous view of the private lake made the experience all the more special. We had a great time kayaking, pike fishing, and having camp fires. Would recommend to a friend and would absolutely stay here again!

Private and beautiful
If you are looking for a beautiful, secluded cabin right on a lake, this is the place for you! It did not disappoint. The cabin is cute and Marina and Craig provided linens/pillows/kitchen cookware and everything you needed to enjoy your trip. You only need to bring flood, ice and drinks. The windows need to be opened the whole time or it will get quite toasty in the cabin. We loved listening to nature at night. The sunset is amazing on the lake! The lake is incredibly shallow, the description wasn’t kidding. We went out on the kayaks every day to fish and watch the sunset. Got stuck a couple times in the muck/weeds or sand banks so be careful if you are kayaking near the shore. We were able to see several bald eagles, including 3 immature baldies that were constantly hanging out near the kayaks. Osprey, Sandhill cranes, Terns and Egrets were the most common birds we saw. The hosts provide water for you to do dishes, and drink if you like well water. Only thing that was not enjoyable was the pitted toilet. It smelled incredibly bad, worse than some port-a-potties I have been in and the air fresheners didn’t even put a dent in the smell. Outside of that, everything was fantastic! We caught a LOT of Pike in the lake (northeast side of the lake) and cooked them over the fire! Delicious! We didn’t get a chance to use the sauna, it was just too hot that weekend, but if we come in the fall/winter, we will try it out! The stars are beautiful out here and not once did I feel unsafe. There is a little trail on the property but it dead ends at a tree stand. We weren’t brave enough to make out own path through the woods. We never met Craig, but Marina was pleasant to speak with and very accommodating! Wonderful weekend getaway (even our dog had a blast!).

Great Getaway!
The cabin was perfect for our family! Craig was really helpful upon our arrival, showing us how to work the electiricty and get the propane started. Our three boys loved swimming and kayaking in the shallow lake. The sauna was a nice addition - not only was it relaxing, but it really did take the place of much needed showers after hiking each day. We ventured out everyday, but next time I'd plan to spend more time exploring the property and National Forest right next door. We definitely plan to visit again!

Wonderful weekend - Craig the host couldn’t have made us more welcome, gave us a nice orientation to the property and the facilities. Well equipped clean cabin, in a beautiful secluded lakeside setting. Excellent fishing on Moss lake and wildlife to view around the farm - eagles, pelicans, deer and turkeys. Thank you

Relaxing getaway
I had a great time at the cabin! Craig was really friendly and great about briefly explaining how the wood-burning stove, sauna and solar-powered batteries worked. I came up to get away from the city and get some work done and it was great for that. I was able to bake a pie and sauna a few times too! I'd love to come back and kayak around the lake sometime.

Throw another log on the fire...
So incredibly cozy even as the temps dipped during our visit in late October. Craig was very welcoming and communicative, letting us know we were free to explore around the property and make ourselves completely at-home during our stay. We kept the logs burning in the wood-burning stove to keep the cabin dry and toasty all day and night (Honestly our rainy days were some of our favorites, curled up with some books and games while listening to the rain tap on the roof). Having a sauna is the perfect way to complete the up north feel and getting the fire going every afternoon as the sun started to get low was a fun routine during our stay. Looking forward to our next stay in the summer/spring when we can get even more out of the lake (we didn't use the kayaks or the outside fire pit since the weather wasn't too great) but we can't recommend a fall visit enough. Just a lovely experience all around.

Upon arrival, Craig was helpful and explained everything so well that we didn't have any questions. He seemed genuinely ready to help if needed, but otherwise you can expect total privacy. The cabin was stocked with helpful odds and ends, plus pots, pans, dish-ware, utensils, etc. Appreciated the solar panel provided electricity for lighting and charging our phones. Shockingly, got better service (AT&T) there than at my apartment! It's a beautiful setting all around. There's a beautiful lake for viewing or paddling, many trails within the property and a short drive to hike-- and star gazing is a must! The sauna was the main event for me!

What a serene, relaxing location. Craig was extremely nice and welcoming. We loved the old cook stove and the access to the boat and kayaks. We saw a deer on our way down to the cabin as well as a pair of bald eagles! A scenic getaway.

Best stay ever!
I can’t possibly say enough good things about my stay at the Lake Cabin. Everything was as described or even better. As a single woman who enjoys being outdoors, this spot has it all: privacy, kayaks, comfortable bed, and best of all, I felt completely safe in my secluded environment. It was great to kayak on the lake and watch eagles fly overhead, then hike along the meadow and within the woods. I used the wood burning stove to bake while I cooked dinner over the fire outdoors and ate as the was setting. Wow... it couldn’t get any better... Oh wait, it did! The sauna in all its cedar hotness and glory! Easy to heat with the ample wood that was provided, it was a most welcome bonus! The weather changed to lots of rain, but I stayed high and dry and caught up on reading (and quite a few more sauna sessions!) Solar power lasted just fine despite the rain and the cabin stayed warm with minimal tending throughout my stay. Craig was available if needed, and showed me how to work the sauna, stove, power when I arrived. Piece of cake! Clean, comfortable, beautiful! Book this slice of heaven as soon as you can. This was the absolute best stay I have ever had. Thank you so much!

Much included in a beautiful escape
We decided to take our 10 month old on his first UP trip, our first trip since he was born, and our first away since Coronavirus. The cabin was the perfect spot. Not only is it secluded, but it's so beautiful, not just the lake, but the entire property. Even though the weather didn't fully accomodate, there was more than enough to do, (hiking, frog hunting, and even a little boating). This is a cannot miss location. You're provided with pretty much everything you need besides clothes, food, and maybe beer. The beds are comfy, and were made up with fresh linens, soft pillows, and extra sleeping bags and blankets. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking with 2 ovens inside, ( the wood oven kept us toasty warm, and heated up bacon pretty quick) they have a grill outside, (coal provided), and a fire pit, (wood provided and even skewers for roasting marshmallows and such). There are chairs on the porch for enjoying the view, and logs around the fire, (camp chairs unecessary). They even had a second cooler for use, which was super helpful during our stay, (and honestly worked better than our own cooler). Last but not least, the sauna was a welcome treat after a long day of playing outside. Craig was extremely helpful, communicative, and friendly, and it was a joy to explore his farm and check out all the animals. And, the gift of farm fresh tomatoes, was just an extra kindness we greatly appreciated. We look forward to our next visit, and plan to pack much less.

Amazing spot to leave it all behind
What an amazing cabin and landscape! If you want a place that offers seclusion and relaxation, this is the spot. The lake is essentially private, so you basically have it all to yourself (I think we saw one fishing boat the 4 days we were there). Craig provided a great setup with everything. The cabin was cozy and had nearly everything we needed. The sauna is a great addition as well. The view of the lake was breathtaking, particularly at sunset. Lots of kayaking, fishing, and hiking right at your doorstep. I can't recommend this location enough. I also recommend taking a trip into Manistique east of the cabin - good Lake Michigan beaches and a cool lighthouse you can trek to. We have two Aussies we brought as well and they had dozens of acres to roam free. We'll definitely be coming back.
