The Midland County Fair is a unique celebration of community and agriculture, with a rich history dating back to 1866. Originally held in the Methodist Church on Main Street, the Fair transitioned outdoors in 1867 to a picturesque location between the Chippewa and Tittabawassee rivers, now known as the Tridge. This gathering led to the establishment of the first agricultural society in Midland County in February 1877. The Fair later moved to 22 acres of land, which is now part of Currie West. In 1923, the Fair faced challenges due to financial constraints and dwindling interest, resulting in the disbandment of the society. However, the Future Farmers of America and the 4-H program worked diligently to revive the Fair. The Midland County Agricultural and Horticultural Society was successfully re-established in 1939, and with strong community support, the Fair found its permanent home in 1947. Since then, the Midland County Fair has blossomed into one of Michigan's most celebrated and well-attended fairs, attracting hundreds of thousands of exhibitors and visitors each year.
