Heritage Hills isn't called Heritage Hills for nothing! It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. We don’t have a dump station or trash cans so please pack in and pack out.
Phone signal is good throughout the area and we are close to civilization for necessities and only 20 minutes from Marquette. So much stuff to do in this area!

Fairway Field is a large roomy sight with lots of grass on the edge of a forest area, so there's lots of shade too. There's a beautiful view of the main field, and a large tree covered bluff. Lots of deer and other wildlife are often spotted here!! It has a fire pit, picnic table and it's very close to a port-a-potty. This is a popular site for those with horses; lots of room for a portable corral and nice of trees to high-line them in the shade!

Pitch your tent, or small camper on what used to be the Hole-1 Fairway of the old Wawonowin golf course. This is one of our smaller spots nicely tucked in the trees and very close to the trail and the port-a-pottie, it has a firepit and a picnic table! And is very private!

Set up your camper, RV or tent in this shady spot on the grass that is closest to the main barn and paddocks where our horses live! You'll have an electric hook up and be close to a port-a-pottie, water, and the bigger communal fire pit. You'll have your own fire pit too, and a picnic table. It’s a smaller site not ideal for a big group.
The campsite offers a truly serene and secluded experience, perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. The sites are spacious and private, with clean facilities and easy access to nearby trails, making it ideal for those who enjoy nature and outdoor activities. Visitors frequently mention the warm hospitality of the hosts, Phil and Joni, who are noted for their helpfulness and friendliness. Many guests appreciate the opportunity to unwind under the stars, with a campfire and the sounds of nature adding to the ambiance.
The hosts are very friendly, and helpful when one of our party needed to improvise some assistive devices after sustaining an injury while mountain biking.
We chose the furthest back site because of our two Dachshunds. We were not disappointed !
Privacy, remoteness and close to all the Marquette area has to offer. Easy to locate this Hipcamp site, we will be back.
Found my perfect place when visiting Marquette. Just a 20min drive away. This property has lots of space, quiet and beauty. Trails to walk, trees to hang your hammock but mostly I enjoyed the peaceful fire looking up at all the stars in the evening. Wow! The hosts were so nice as well!
I had a great overnight stay! The site was perfect and Phil was so kind. He even took care of some ground wasps and offered a new site. It was a perfect stop while adventuring around Michigan.
We happen to be the only campers there during the week. The Homestead site with electric was clean and very quiet. The porta potty was clean. If you are mountain biking the RAMBA trails and want a quiet spot with electricity, I highly recommend Joni and Phil's space.
We loved this spot! It was very spacious, clean, and private. It was a comfortable location to have our dogs off leash. You could access trails right from the back of the property - both paths and single track bike trails. We could even bike on trails almost all the way to an ice cream shop and grocery store in just seven minutes.
Beautiful stay! Perfect spot for those looking for a camp site away from other people and for something a bit more private. It was the perfect stop and wish we could’ve extended our trip! Land offered great birding and we even heard a Barred Owl our first night.
The place was peaceful and private. We picked this area up camp (rooftop tent) because it is literally right on the RAMBA bike trail. Beautiful area, single track and challenging in some areas or you can walk/hike the trails. I’m sure it’s gorgeous in the Fall too! Short distance to area towns. The hosts were great!
My daughter and I camped at the Homestead site with Heritage Hills hosted by Joni and Phil last week. The site was great!! We felt like we had the horse farm to ourselves. It was so private and secluded. And a great place to view the beautiful night sky by the camp fire.
Solid campsite, private and well kept! Nice fire ring/table and private site. As a host myself, the only recommendation would be to put a couple signs in to mark the sites. However, I assume the hosts intend to meet you during check in, removing the need for signage. I would recommend this host to anyone, Excellent Job!
We had a wonderful weekend! Spacious site, clean bathroom, excellent communication. Phil and Joni are wonderful hosts, and we cannot wait to come back!
Joni was tremendously communicative, friendly, and accommodating! I needed to arrive a little bit late and she came out to meet me and help me get situated. Further, I needed to leave a little bit late because I had a church meeting I needed to do attend online and without reliable cell service in the area she let me stay with my satellite Internet set up until the meeting was over. Thank you so much for a quiet place that was so welcoming!
It was a quiet and peaceful place to stay. Close to the towns of Ishpeming, Nagaunee, and Marquette, so we had lots to do will staying there. There was plenty of land to navigate our rig in and out. Joni and Phil were very hospitable hosts!
We loved our stay at Joni and Phil’s. The site was very peaceful and comfortable. The individual sites are spaced very generously. It was lovely to see the horses every morning. We mountain biked and walked the dogs on the trails accessible from the property. Joni and Phil were welcoming and helpful. I’d love to stay at a property like this in every destination we visit.
We enjoyed staying here very much. It was very private, peaceful and enjoyed seeing the deer roam around the property. Joni and Phil were welcoming upon arrival. I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area and are looking for a private camping experience. It’s located in a great place that’s easily accessible to many of the points of interest we had while passing through.
