Quiet peaceful Camp on the Muskegon

Grays River Camp was awesome. Angie was a super host and very pleasant to talk with. Attentive to needs and making sure campers are happy. She has done a lot with the campground for improvements, making sure there is a little bit for everyone to have fun outdoors or indoors in the case of bad weather. It was very quiet, clean and peaceful camped along the river. Plenty of room to walk dogs if you have them. We floated the Muskegon during our stay. Angie dropped us off at a riverside park in Big Rapids and we paddled and fished our way back to camp. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are camping there again the following weekend. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone looking to get away from the congested state campgrounds and larger RV resorts. Great for RV’s and Tents. There is a dump station for RV’s which was a blessing. Thanks Angie, we look forward to coming back.

We stayed for three nights and absolutely loved it here. The property is peaceful, right on the river, and has a unique charm with the old buildings from when it was a church camp built in 1940’s.
The host was very friendly and easy to communicate with before our trip, which made everything smooth. On-site, they’ve clearly put thought into making it comfortable—there are snacks (even ice cream if you want it), clean bathrooms and showers, a dump station, firewood for purchase, and convenient hookups with 30-amp power and a water spigot close by. The rail trail runs right past the property, which was perfect for walks, and there was plenty of room for our dogs to explore.
What made this trip even better was that my parents, who aren’t campers, came along and stayed in one of the handful of cabins on site. It worked out perfectly and gave us all a chance to enjoy the peaceful setting together.
What we appreciated most was how small and quiet it felt—not crowded at all, just relaxing and easy. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with modern conveniences and a touch of history. We wished we could have stayed longer!

A campsite with all the amenities for an extra comfortable stay. We enjoyed the bathhouse showers and restrooms and cute snack shop with ping pong, board games, and necessities just in case you forgot something. We also loved having wifi. The kids never got bored because there were so many activities such as a cool zip line, small playscape, basketball hoop, kayaking, and so much more. The icing on the cake was how nice and helpful Angie was. The property is the perfect place to enjoy camping.

Angie has done an excellent job so far restoring an old church camp to what it is today. I enjoyed the peace and quiet and would definitely camp here again.

A very organized, well-maintained camping property. Angie and her partner doing a really nice job restoring this former church camp from the 1940’s. I didn’t require any of the hookups, it my site was clean, flat, easy to access and felt private. Would stay here again!

We enjoyed a nice site with a fire ring and picnic table overlooking the Muskegon River. The trees were just perfect for hanging our hammocks. There is river access for wading/swimming with a small dock. The toilets and showers were nice and clean. Angie was great! This is right on the White Pines Trail and very convenient for bikepackers.

I really enjoyed this campground it was quiet and clean. And the host was so awesome that she helped me put my tent up and even moved me to a different spot she thought I would like better. I will definitely be back there before the summer is over.

Had such a lovely time! Biked up the White Pine Trail and stopped here for the night on my way to Cadillac. It's a perfect spot right off the trial. Hot shower, clean bathrooms, beautiful view of the river, couldn't ask for more. Everyone was very sweet and welcoming.

This place is brimming with potential, especially for RV camping but the current information available online (that was easy to find) about this campsite is incomplete. The images make the site seem fairly secluded, in reality they are a few yards apart at best. The spots are a mix and match of RV and tent. By far the most frustrating experience was the bright street light that stays on all night, across from Site 3 (and the many surrounding us). This is especially not idea for tent campers. Those are the main challenges to keep in mind when choosing this place, otherwise i would likely recommend this place for an easy spot to recharge. The new ownership has made tons of the improvements to the area, they provide many amenities, and floating down the river is a highlight of staying in this area.

The pictures on the website need to be updated. I think at one time, this was a beautiful campground. It hasn't been kept up. All the empty, rundown cabins don't help. The bridge was blocked off, the shower was dirty and the patio furniture on our site was soaking wet from rain and dirty. We did not use it. Would have preferred a picnic table.

Angie is an amazing host! We stayed in a tent in spot seven, but if you're needing electricity for a tent make sure to ask Angie the best spot for you. 😉
Hot showers, awesome rec room, plus offers disk golf, kayaking, firewood, and an incredible camp store in case you forgot something essential (like ice, off, or marshmallows). Lots of other stuff too!
I personally love that there was ping pong, games, and a short walk down to the river for fishing. Plus it was incredibly reasonable for each service Angie provides! We went kayaking and she drove us over the point so we could spend a few hours floating down the river right to camp. It was so stress free! The beauty and tranquility of the river was completely worth every penny. ✨️
Close to town without being too close. The bike trail goes right by there too! It was an absolutely phenomenal weekend!

Very nice small campground with trails nearby and an RV dump station. Also has water and electric hookups. The Muskegon River is a short walk from camp sites. The host Angie was super sweet and attentive. Highly recommend as a nice place for a nature packed weekend or even a place to park for the night and head out next day if needed she is very accommodating to either.

My stay was wonderful! I moved to be a bit closer to the overlook of the river and my view was beautiful. There is such a nice bathhouse and rec room. Also onsite is a small concessions stand that sells ice. Will absolutely be returning!

Great spot on the river, with access for fishing and kayaking. Also right on the White Pine trail, so it’s a great spot to stop if backpacking or biking the trail. Angie is always making improvements to the old buildings, and loves making guests feel at home.

This campsite was exactly what my wife and I needed to get away, relaxing and enjoy nature.
Our host, Angie, went out of her way to make sure our stay was awesome.
Besides a beautiful campsite, she offers kayaks for a nominal fee. We enjoyed a float of nearly an hour and a half, back to the campground dock.
Highly recommend this campground.
