Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
At Black River Homestead in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, we’ve created a stay that’s made for meaningful escapes—with the people who matter most. Our luxury tents and vintage campers offer the charm of camping with the comfort of real beds, private firepits, and room to reconnect. Whether you’re exploring nearby trails or just enjoying slow mornings and late-night laughs under the stars, this is a place to trade distractions for deeper moments—together. In addition to the rooms and beds provided below, please feel free to bring tents for additional guests (over 11) for no extra cost. Pondview Camper Perched on a hillside with tranquil pond views, Pondview offers a nostalgic, cozy escape with just the right balance of comfort and simplicity. Outside, gather around the firepit or grill under the stars. Inside, find two booth-style nooks that double as beds—perfect for up to 3 guests. A fully equipped kitchen and private bathroom with tub/shower combo make unplugging feel easy, not rustic. Trailside Camper Overlooking the Iron Ore Heritage Trail and wetlands, Trailside is a snug retreat for two with big scenery. Inside: a kitchen, in-camper toilet, plush sofa, and a classic booth—both converting into beds. Outside: firepit, grill, and bistro table for alfresco moments. It’s your front-row seat to sunrise hikes and starlit hangs. Tent 1 – Shady Glen Nestled in a quiet glen behind the barn, this is our most secluded site. A queen bed, prep counter, and table for two offer cozy simplicity inside. Outside, dine under the trees, relax by your private firepit, and soak in the stillness. Ideal for couples or solo travelers seeking pure peace. Tent 2 – Meadow’s Edge Where forest meets field, this sunlit tent offers breezy seclusion and room to roam. With a queen bed, indoor prep space, and café table, it’s made for slow mornings and golden-hour dinners. Private firepit and open skies make it a stargazer’s dream. Tent 3 – The Lookout Set on a gentle rise with trail views, The Lookout offers a fresh vantage point. Two twin beds (convertible to one), indoor seating, and a firepit with Adirondacks make it perfect for flexible duos or solo adventurers. Quietly tucked away but close to everything. The Bathhouse Our shared bathhouse features two private bathrooms with full showers, toilets, and outlets—finished in pine for a warm, cabin-like feel. A utility room with washer/dryer adds extra convenience for longer stays.
