EarthWell Retreat Center boasts a spring-fed swimming pond situated on forty acres of rolling prairie, forest and wetland, surrounded by one hundred acres of Washtenaw County Nature Preserve. Six off-grid sleeping cabins dot the landscape, all within a short walk to our Common House, that includes a large gathering space, community kitchen/dining and bathrooms/shower. EarthWell offers Yoga and Meditation classes and weekend retreats year-round. Located in Southeastern Michigan, just 30 minutes west of Ann Arbor, and near the towns of Grasslake, Chelsea, Manchester. (All downtowns are 7-10 miles away). EarthWell allows hiking, wildlife watching (amazing sandhill cranes), swimming and canoeing/kayaking/paddleboating in our pond. East of Chelsea is the expansive Pinckney and Waterloo State Recreation areas, with over 20 lakes and trails for hikers, bikers, backpackers, and horseback riders. There are two households (the families of Ari Wakeman and Emily Adama) that live permanently on the property. (one in the lower level of the common house, and one in a cabin 200 yards from the common house.) During your rental they will maintain quiet and privacy for your group, but will remain on the property for the duration of your stay and will be available should any issues arise. Bring your own tent, bedding, and linens for this accessible and simple way to stay at a nourishing yoga and meditation retreat center in the woods. Camping at EarthWell Retreat Center is open in a few general designated areas including along the road/walking path across the field for an epic sunrise, a semi-secluded spot right on the water, a number of spots on the edge of the northern-most part of the property by the pond, and in the gorgeous woods north of the pond. Campsites are first-come-first-serve. One tent/or single-family bookings only. MAXIMUM 2 adults (we have 4 "campsites" available, so if your party includes more than 2 adults please book additional spots so we can account for the load on our modern shared glamping facilities). Locally sourced and made pre-packaged meals, meditation and yoga classes, and more available. (must pre-book with us). IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT WALKING: • 3 minute walk from Upper Bungalow to shared solar-composting toilets • 2 minute walk to common house with shared kitchen, dining area, shower, bathrooms, WIFI, and meeting room/yoga space. Accessible 24/7 with code* • Nov-April parking is located in the Common House Parking Lot. (5-10 minute walk to cabins) May-Oct guests may park in the Lower Green Parking Lot (2-5 minute to cabins). NOTE: Sleeping cabins have no electricity, running water, bathrooms or kitchen IN the cabin. HOWEVER, you have access to our lovely “Common House” for flushing toilets, shower, modern kitchen and dining area, which is a 5-10 MINUTE WALK or short drive from the Cabins/Campsites. All cabins have composting toilet outhouses located within a 1-2 MINUTE walk from cabins/campsites. The Lower Bungalow is a 3-season canvas cabin and houses 2 twin mattresses, and an optional Exped thick camping mat. Open seasonally (May-Oct), this cozy space has screened-in windows/doors on all four sides for the maximal amount of airflow, and minimum amount of mosquitos! • Linens and pillows (no towels) • Battery-operated fans • This non-insulated mini-cabin is located down the hill from The Upper Bungalow, super close to the pond. • This cabin includes access to all hiking trails, a swimmable pond, and a shared modern kitchen. • Locally sourced and made pre-packaged meals, meditation and yoga classes, and more available for booking separately on our website. • Personal Pots/Pans Bin and shelf space for non-perishables. • Alcohol is not allowed.
