WHAT'S NEW ON THE FARM IN 2023
This year we are expecting two foals (baby horses). One the end of April and one around the Fourth of July.
We are also milking a family cow for our own milk as well. Her name is Daisy and her calfs name is Maple. Maple was born in March on the maple full moon. We do a calf share where the calf is with her mom part of the time and we are still able to milk her.
Our mini horse, Annabell is now pulling a cart and giving rides! So much fun!
We will have Great Pyrenees puppies from end of April through mid July. Come and spend some time with them!
We also have two new additions to the farm. A pony mule, named Molly, in which I am planning to train to pull a cart and a cream colored pony, named Whinny as well, for riding.
ABOUT DOREEN
I’m an entrepreneur. I’m all about health and taking care of the mind, body and spirit.
I’m an organic farmer, an animal nut, health coach, mindset mentor
and Psych-K facilitator.
I have six children and hosted three foreign exchange students. I love kids, animals (especially horses) and nature. I love anything and everything about health and personal growth and well being.
ABOUT THE FARM
We have a working, organic farm with a lot of animals, however, we also do crops as well. This particular farm is 138 acres with 8 acres of woods. We have working dogs, sheep, cattle, horses, a few
ducks, chickens, a couple goats, a mini horse and outdoor cats on our farm. We have some super great animals. Most of which are very friendly.
You never know what will be available to see on the farm when you visit. We are expecting a foal (baby horse) this summer (2021)
and are already planning for another foal next summer as well. We often have puppies as well and sometimes we have to bottle feed lambs. There's never a dull moment.
Our farm is unique in the way of having a very positive VIBE to it. The energy is awesome! It's really a space of tranquility and healing if you allow yourself to go there.
After hosting with air bnb for a little over a year now, we decided to give this a try as well. We love hosting people and having them come to the farm and enjoy our way of life. It also helps to have a supplemental income as having and running a small family farm isn't very sustainable. Typically there's off the farm jobs to help pay for the farm life. It's a crazy equation. Small family farms are far and few between. Please support your local farmer if possible! It is greatly appreciated!

CAMPING (Glamping)
We are going to start out by offering four camp spaces on our farm. These are actually located in the yard area which surrounds the house which is fenced on all three sides which house animals and then the gravel road out front. It's very spacious with plenty of room to enjoy separate space.
However, as of right now we are starting out with one large fire pit which is shared by all campers. If needed, we can add another one, but we first want to see how this is going to go. We will have pre cut fire wood here for purchase. We also have a hand made shitter house, I mean composting toilet. lol This will be available for the use of all the campers. It's great, it's free of unpleasant smell and free of flies!
We'd like to offer the opportunity for clamping rather than a rustic style of camping. With that being said, we offer a shared refrigerator as well as outdoor plugs for cell phone charging or anything else that's in need of a simple charge.
ADDITIONAL PRIVATE CAMPING SPACE
We'd also like to offer two separate, private, spaces available for camping out back by the woods. It's a bit less than a half mile off the road and there would be a camp on each side of the woods. During the summer months there will be about twenty head of young cattle pastured right along the woods by the camp sites. These two camp sites will have a fire pit each, no toilet or running water. This is totally rustic. You can cut your own wood in the woods from fallen trees. You are welcome to come and get water from the farm if needed. If you choose this option, we have a couple of ways we can help you get your supplies to your camp site if needed. We are undecided as to whether or not we can allow driving back there at this time.
RV HOOK UP
We do have a single space available to an RV. It does sit near the house. It would have electric hook up as well as water. Please contact Doreen for more details.
POOL
You will find a large round pool with a large, attached wooden deck off of it on the farm. Most days this will be open to the campers, however, please be advised it may occasionally be closed for our own personal use. The pool is mostly chlorine free and is deeper in the center at 5 foot deep and 4 foot around the edge. There are steps going into the pool vs a ladder. The deck also has a couple of tables and chairs as well, with one umbrella. You will be required to sign a pool waiver upon arrival as there is no lifeguard on duty and we can not be responsible.
EXTRAS
We also have a horse shoe pit you're welcome to enjoy and a large sand box for your kiddos as well. I'm currently working on getting a playground set located and installed, so fingers crossed I can do that this year (2021)
We will have a charcoal grill on the premises with charcoal for sale if any of the campers would like to use it. This will be a shared grill.
We are also blessed with some of the most incredible sunrises and sunsets here! It's a huge bonus! ENJOY!
PLEASE BE ADVISED
~Even though there are some trees, I would say there is not a great deal of shaded area and it may be a good idea to bring a canopy tent.
~There may be farming taking place. Meaning tractors going by or pulling in the driveway and other equipment.
~This is a working farm with many animals. You may hear many animal noises at night and during the early morning hours, such as dogs barking and roosters crowing should be amongst the most prevalent.
CAMPSITES 1-4
These campsites are located around the house and farm. Campers are welcome to choose a spot of their choice and liking.
CAMPSITE 5
This campsite is a private locating in the back forty acre field on the west side of the woods. As of right now it is equipped with a fire pit and is a nice location for a shaded area. We do farm the field next to this site so you may see an occasional tractor in the field for a short period of time. We also have cattle pastured near this location.
CAMPSITE 6
This campsite is a private location in the back forty acre field on the east side of the woods. As of right now it is equipped with a fire pit. This area has more open space with sunshine. We do farm the field next to this site so you may see an occasional tractor in the field for a short period of time. We also pasture cattle near this location.
I will provide some pictures as soon as I can get them.

RV Hook Up on the farm
100% (8)
Vehicle site · Sleeps 8 · Vehicles under 45 ft
This site offers a fairly private area even though its plugged into the house and parked near the house, it's on the opposite side of the area in which we access the house. Which creates some privacy for our campers.
Pets are welcome. There is water hook up close to the parking area as well. We also offer an outdoor composting toilet if needed.
The farm was wonderful! This was my 2nd time staying at this property and would recommend if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet farm stay! The horses were so friendly and would walk up for pets and we got to spend time with the new Pyrenees puppies.
Doreen is super helpful, friendly and a great host!
What a beautiful property! we loved waking up to the horses in the field. Doreen was very accommodating and helpful. The property was clean and the outhouse was well kept. She was very kind with our kids and even showed us how she cared for her cow and horses. We stayed 2 nights because we were passing through but wish we could’ve stayed longer it was such a nice little paradise. Would highly recommend for anyone who’s looking for a little bit of farm life and tranquility. Thank you Doreen and family for your hospitality. We wish you all the very best.
RV camping at Doreen’s farm exceeded expectations. The farm feels like the heart center of a community of family and friends. The property is exquisitely maintained and her animals are majestic. Setup was a piece of cake. Easy pull-thru via the circle drive. Great spot whether you have kids, pets, or both. We will absolutely be back! Be sure to add on the horseback riding option for a super special experience.
From beginning to end this was a perfect experience with a delightful couple who so clearly love what they do, from the land they work to the animals they tend. Their stewardship of both makes you believe there are still good people in the world. Their property is tidy and well maintained, they are communicative and generous with their time.
This was a beautiful, peaceful stay on a working farm. Doreen was busy getting the place ready for a big party but took the time to make sure we had everything we needed. Was wonderful to wake up and gaze across the field to see the beautiful grazing horses! We found out our dog Sandy has a bit of a sheep herding instinct (the 4 farm dogs straightened her out).
My family and I camped at BF&E Organics Farm for one night and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The host, Doreen, and her family are awesome and friendly. Doreen was beyond hospitable and maintained great kindness and communication. This place is definitely a great spot to spend your time. It is spotless, peaceful, and very clean. Our kid was thrilled to see and touch the different animals on the farm. 10/10, I would always recommend. Thank you, Doreen!
Doreen and family are great people and my family and I have an amazing time and beautiful country view every time we stay here.
The price of eggs and meat are reasonable as well as tasty.
Pat and Doreen were both a pleasure to stay with. Extremely hospitable and accommodating of my stay. Looking forward to coming back if I’m ever in the area.
We had such a delightful time camping at Doreen’s—gorgeous sunset and sunrise, friendly kitties, and so peaceful. My kids loved all the animals, especially the horses. We’ll be back!
What a peaceful place! Doreen makes sure that you feel right at home. We were free to put our tents anywhere, and there were plenty of beautiful spots either under trees or the open sky. The friendly dog won my heart immediately, and both yard cats warmed up to us by the time the campfire was going. :) Already looking forward to our next visit!
While bike touring we tent camped at Doreen’s for one night. What a treat to camp so close to all of the animals! You’ll get to meet some adorable and friendly animals, and best of all you’ll get to meet Doreen who is an awesome person! We had an enjoyable conversation over coffee in the morning before heading out.
Simple spot in the farm driveway, with a reliable electrical hook up and access to water and a nicely upkept humanure outhouse. Doreen was very communicative and helpful, and didn't mind that we ended up rolling in late at night. The farm was very quiet besides the dogs barking, but they settled in with our presence eventually! There were ear plugs in the bathroom, but seriously it was so serene idk who would need them!
I truly needed a change of scenery and camping on a farm is just my pace. I got to play with giant six-toed puppies and a couple bossy cats. Spent an afternoon at the lavender farm in Imlay too. Can’t wait to visit this farm again :)
We had great time camping at Doreen’s Farm. We chose to camp in the remote site to introduce our 4 yr and 2+Yr olds to their 1st tent camping experience. They loved the exposure to very friendly farm animals(City boys) and swimming in the above ground pool, etc.
The boys want to return next summer as well. Doreen was very welcoming and accommodating. Very restful, laid-back experience.
It ended up thunder storming the weekend I booked on the farm, and Doreen was SO kind and kept me updated with the condition of the weather, so I didn’t have to make the drive if it wasn’t gonna be worth it (I was tenting). I didn’t end up going because of the rain, but speaking purely communication and hospitality wise, this place is 10/10– DEFINITELY gonna reschedule and pick a different weekend to go instead! Can’t wait!!
Doreen is the sweetest and runs a beautiful farm. When I saw the rooster I thought we'd be getting up at 5AM, but he's actually kinda quiet and watched over the hens at the other end of a field so we didn't really hear him. The animals were friendly and it was fun helping with them, getting up pet them and just watching them. The kids spent 50% of the time in the pool, I think. The outhouse is actually a composting bucket and I was shocked that it didn't smell! We had a great time and would recommend to anyone. Don't forget to look up at the stars at night, if you're like us and live with light pollution, you'll be in awe at the number of stars you can see on a clear night
Doreen was a great hostess and so where her family members. The farm animals are friendly and my daughter enjoyed learning about farming and having her very first horseback riding lesson from Doreen. The area is clean and so was the pool and port potty that I didn’t personally use but my companion did use.
I tent camped on Doreen’s beautiful farm & I enjoyed every minute of it. All the animals were just so sweet & you can tell they are well cared for & well loved. I also enjoyed having fresh eggs while I was there & still had some left to take with me. The composting toilet was a new experience for me but it was pretty cool. No smell to deal with & Doreen does a great job keeping it clean for her guests . I highly recommend this stay & left a better person after getting to know Doreen & Pat & even had a couple of good chats with another guest. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality! Will definitely stay again if I return to the area.
Amazing stay on a farm ran by great people. We felt free to use all the amenities and interacting with the animals was unforgettable. We chose to setup camp on the back site and it was so worth the drive through the field. The fireflies at dusk were delightful and the remoteness made you feel like you were much further North. We will definitely be back again.
We had a laid back day tent camping at this nice farm. Very pretty land, very nice animals. Doreen, the host, was friendly and helpful. The outdoor sink and outhouse were clean and convenient. We took our 5 year old and he enjoyed the sandbox, the outdoor dogs and cats, and the farm tour we took. He collected eggs, fed a little cow and met some of the horses and sheep.
She let us pick pretty much anywhere to set up camp. We stayed in the house's backyard, near the large fire pit and the farm animals. There are farm noises at night, as she says in her description, and they provide ear plugs in the outhouse if you find you need them.
We enjoyed our stay!
Loved camping on Doreen's property! We chose the secluded spot and had an incredible time. Wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature (keep an eye out for the bald eagle!). Looking forward to returning as soon as we can!
Thanks Doreen!
Absolutely loved camping here! Doreen is an incredibly kind person and helped make our stay wonderful. The land is perfect for camping. The fire pit was really relaxing to sit by at night. Her dog Lucy is very friendly and will likely become your best friend during your stay! The wood compostable toilet is pretty neat and clean, you don't even mind it being outdoors. If I'm ever in the area again, I would love to stay here. No complaints!
We had a great time! Doreen runs a very peaceful and welcoming farm. She is super friendly and makes you feel right at home! We love animals and this was perfect. We will be going back, any time we have a chance!!
This farm was above and beyond what we expected for a farm visit overnight experience. Doreen was a wonderful host and gave us a full tour of her working farm. She allowed us to roam the farm and meet the animals and we even got to spend some time with the new puppies! They had horses, sheep, goats, chickens and some super friendly guardian dogs who loved to help show us around as well. She was very accommodating especially considering we made the reservation a day prior. She was very friendly and provided us with everything we needed for our farm visit. The animals are very friendly and it was great to spend time with them! Will definitely be returning in the warmer months!
