Heaven on Earth
This campsite was the closest thing I’ve ever experienced to heaven on earth. It is such a serene and tranquil spot. I cannot recommend it enough. I will be back without a doubt!

Great star viewing
A wonderful spot with awesome views. It is quite a private location and while we could occasionally hear other campers it never distracted from the feeling of being in nature. Lots of dry wood around for fire. Responsive and kind hosts.

Wild Horse Music Realm of Equestria
The whole family loved it!
This was our second visit to Amelia’s property, but this time we brought our kids! Our campsite was on the top of a hill, with amazing sunset views, meadow sloping away from it, dotted with low lines. The kids ran all around through the long grass, foraged some wild edibles, and looked forward to our daily encounters with the hilarious farm birds, fuzzy kittens, and Amelia’s beautiful horses. It was an amazing family weekend, brimful of lakeshore activities, but our “backcountry car camping” was a highlight for all of us. Thanks for your hospitality, Amelia! I’m sure we’ll see you again. 🪶 🐎 🏕

This site is beautiful and I highly recommend! It’s a perfect mixture of being fully immersed in nature but also having the safety of a few houses nearby. The stars were absolutely incredible and the crickets were a perfect background all evening! We got to meet the horses and learn the story of Amelia’s dream! Stay here to support more horses being rescued!

Amazing, Peaceful property!
This is truly a beautiful, peaceful stay if you are looking for TRUE peace and quiet! Nobody around, stunning views, gorgeous horses….
Definitely plan equipment for rustic and a sturdy vehicle to get there.
Loved it and plan to go back!

Tent camping was amazing with the view we were camping at!! Amelia was so welcoming by helping us get to our site when we were lost. She also gave us plenty of water and a shovel if needed. Highly recommend this secluded and beautiful property!!!

Sunsets and Stargazing
Amelia is a fantastic host! Our site had an amazing view of the sunset and was perfect for stargazing, watching the meteor shower, and bird watching too. At night we were lulled to sleep by night birds and crickets. Plenty of space and lots of distance between us and the other campers (we could barely make out their vehicles on the other side of the tree-line).
Be prepared to ride some rough road if you want a spot on the hill... four wheel drive is strongly recommended.
Also be sure to stop and meet the horses, chickens, turkeys, and geese.
The location is seconds from Honor and minutes from Interlochen, Beulah, and all activities on Crystal Lake and the Platte Lakes.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet, safe, and rustic experience.

Solitude With a View
Our stay at Wild Horse Music Sanctuary was one of the best experiences of 2022. This place of rolling, pine-studded meadows feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, yet Empire and Glen Arbor were both just a short, pleasant drive away. We couldn’t see one single light from our campsite, except for what we think was the rotating beam of a distant lighthouse. I deeply appreciated the privacy and solitude, and the quiet: the only man-made noise came from planes flying overhead (which happened twice) and, on our last morning, the machinery of the logging operation. The views were exceptional, wildflowers were everywhere, and the sunsets were spectacular. I hadn’t been camping for decades, and I’m so glad I got to do it again in this lovely place.

Beautiful wilderness camping!
We spent two great nights tent camping on Amelia’s sweeping acreage! We enjoyed sunset and sunrise walks to explore the hills, woods, and meadow, visiting with Amelia and her beautiful horses, and the clear night skies that gave us a perfect opportunity for stargazing. We loved the isolation and quiet that let us hear whip-poor-wills and other birds as we were falling asleep, and appreciated the easy proximity to Sleeping Bear Dunes Nat’l Lakeshore where we were focusing our time. There were two other groups camping on the land, but we never saw nor heard them because we were nicely spaced. Thank you, Amelia! We would gladly return!!

Wonderful space to camp and I felt very safe/comfortable even solo! Be aware you will need 4 wheel drive to reach the sites and Amelia did a wonderful job helping me get situated. It was a very peaceful stay!

BEST CAMPING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!
Hands down the best drive in tent camping experience I've ever had. Incredibly secluded campsites, amazing amounts of wildlife, beautiful views, AND the campsite was on top of a hill with perfect views of the sunrise and sunset! Can't recommend staying here enough. Experiences like this make me wonder why I ever camp in generic campground.

#1 drive in camping experience ever
Cannot recommend this place enough! Surrounded by wildlife and exceptional views, this place is it when it comes to drive in camping. Amelia showed us to the most epic campsite on her 140 acres with views of both the sunset and sunrise. We couldn't have asked for a better camping experience. This place has the best seclusion and nature experience all while being within 30 minutes of the dunes and Lakeshore. We will definitely be back!!!
