This property was once part of a much larger farm that was known for selling axe handles. The man that owned it bought little plots of land until he had over 100 acres. The original farmhouse still sits on the property and has been added on to and renovated. There is an old stone foundation that may have been a tenant house. My father bought the farm in 1995 and sold off several lots. Learn more about this land:      Pitch your tent between the corn field  and forest and listen to the wildlife as it comes alive at dark.  Hike the mountainous terrain to the stream at the back  of the farm. Walk to Rocks State Park where you will marvel at the notorious rock formation called The King and Queen Seat.  Don't expect anything fancy here....just you one with nature.  Eden Mill Nature Center and Falling Branch Falls is also nearby. Wildlife you may hear and or see include deer, fox, raccoons, owls, turtles, groundhog, coyote, and an occasional bobcat or bear.       Here at Rescue Ranch there are 2 campsite options depending on your type of stay. If you are driving a truck or SUV you can wiggle your way along the wheat field and forest back to campsite two or three just along the woods. During the summer you will not have shade unless you take your tent into the woods.  The first campsite has a flatter spot for a tent.  The second campsite is more remote/secluded but four wheel drive is recommended for both in the event of rain.  If you dont want to drive a car to the campsite you can park on lane and walk your gear back to the campsite.  For those seeking the ultimate wilderness experience, you can take your tents into the forest(there are no groomed sites), where you will find total seclusion and immersion in the forest next to wet stone branch, which is a cute little creek. Once back to the third campsite, you will be able to find many hiking trails.  Bring your own firewood or forage for sticks!

Camping at a dog sanctuary
Great backyard campsite. Ramona has tons of beautiful land that runs up against a forested area. She was courteous and helpful the whole time.

Ramona was a great host and helped us with wood for an unexpected, very cold front. View was pretty and it was peaceful.

Site 1 Perfect Tent and Small Car C
We had an awesome experience camping at Rescue Ranch. We stayed at the first site which had a picnic table, chairs, fire circle, and an additional small table. There was also a perfect soft spot to place our tent. I definitely recommend this site to anyone traveling with a vehicle without front wheel drive. We got there with no problem. Ramona was very friendly and welcoming! I felt comfortable to reach out to her with any questions. The property is beautiful, as was the site. Our views of the moon and stars were breathtaking. We would love to come back one day!

Highly Recommend
Hands down the greatest camping experience of my life. The property is amazing and very close to the all the attractions of Rock State Park. We were greeted very kindly and given good instructions upon arrival and given complete privacy thereafter. We'll maintained campsites and beautiful environment with equal sun and shade!

This was our first time using Hipcamp but it certainly won’t be our last! Ramona’s camp was just what we needed—quiet, peaceful, and close to hiking. We’ll definitely be back if we are in the area again.

Rescue Ranch
Ramona’s Rescue Ranch was the perfect getaway. Secluded campsite on the edge of her farm, with a big hill behind you for privacy, and a view of the valley and the sound of the creek below. We heard almost zero road noise, or people noise. Nicely located within walking distance of rocks state park and king and queen seat. Ramona, the super kind and incredibly communicative host met us upon arrival and showed the campsites. 4WD necessary for the secluded site, or walk a short distance. Ramona was kind of enough to give us some wood as well and pointed out the best way to access the nearby trails for hiking. There is a slight downhill grade at the most secluded site, but not bad.

Down by the creek
Our family of four including a 6 & 10 yr old had another amazing Hipcamp experience. Ramona and her father Ray were very welcoming and gracious hosts We stayed at site #3, the furthest from the house and closest to the creek. Plenty of privacy, with views of open farmland on one side and the endless woods on the other. Yes, the site isn’t the flattest, so if you can’t adapt, choose #1 or #2. The creek is a short couple min walk downhill and well worth the walk back up. We enjoyed several hours down creekside, it’s very peaceful yet entertaining for the kids. Rocks state park is pretty awesome, and less than 10 min away, maybe even closer. We enjoyed hiking around the King and Queen seat area as well as Kilgore Falls. Guilty of going to Falling Branch Brewery for lunch 😉, food truck onsite for eats.

Open skies, close to home.
Ramona was very accommodating and the property was lovely. It had rolling hills and few level spots, so plan accordingly. I am an amateur astronomer and brought a telescope with me. There was a clear view of nearly the entire sky from the field, absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short so that we were not breaking down in thunderstorms, but Ramona was quick to reach out to work with on that too. As I said the views were breathtaking and that alone would be enough to get us back, but the fact that it is so convenient for us, secluded, and quiet makes this a win in my book! Thanks Ramona!

Peaceful
Beautiful property with an option of two campsites both with fire pits. The second site backs up right on the hill forest line where you can hear the peaceful creek at the bottom all night long. Host was timely, responsive and supplied fire wood!

Thanks, Ramona!
Ramona was a welcoming and kind host. She even lent us some camp chairs when we realized we’d left some of ours at home. The campsite was secluded and quiet, and the location was totally perfect for stargazing, but the slope required some careful tent placement. We enjoyed our one-night stay after hiking in Rocks SP!

Perfect for our needs
Lovely site, woody, private with a big grassy meadow the kids loved. Gorgeous night sky. Host was very accessible and helpful, giving us tips to know. We will be back. Request the site with the table if you need one. It was a nice bonus.

Beautiful, private site
I believe we were on site 2, and we had easy access to the woods and the stream (didn’t explore much because it was hunting season and we didn’t have orange, but we did find a great place for our hammock), as well as a beautiful field on a moonlit night. The only drawback was that there was no flat spot for the tent near the fire pit, and we kept sliding downhill at night -maybe I just need a less slippery sleeping bag:) We loved the views and the privacy- we couldn’t see anyone else from our site.

Great stay, cute area! Only thing is, four wheel drive is necessary for certain camp sites. We had to push our car at one point after a heavy rainfall. Other than that, good experience and friendly host.

Great time at Rescue Ranch. I would request the upper most site next time as it seemed more flat for tents. The lower site was good as well because it was secluded along the woods but the ground was a little sloped. Our host was great greeting my son and I upon arrival and telling us of some great nearby hiking. We would visit again for sure!
