Early August Update The river is at it's 100% peak best summer quality this week. Very warm and PERFECT for lounging, floating, kayaking and snorkeling (20 ft visibility or better).
A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard.

30 acres of mostly reclaimed farmland. We are located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive.
Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing.
Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support!

Welcome to creek-side camping on our picturesque 16 acre farm! Here are a few ground rules to help with your stay -PLEASE READ SO NONE OF THIS IS A SURPRISE-:
-Dogs are no longer permitted at any of our sites.
- OVERLANDERS: You can bring your overland camper if you want, but you must park your vehicle in the parking spot across from your site at sites 1-3. It is a safety issue to block the entryway/exit lane. Site 4 is large enough to accommodate your vehicle and these rules do not apply there.
-This is a place for relaxation and reflection by the creek. No loud groups, or partying allowed. If your neighbor can hear your music it is too loud. If your host can hear it, you will be asked to turn it down or off all together.
-This is a pack it in, pack it out site. This includes food waste, and any garbage produced. Please respect that :) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BURN ANY WASTE IN THE FIRE RING BEFORE CHECKING OUT. DO NOT THROW FOOD SCRAPS IN THE CREEK!
-There is NO FISHING, kayaking or boating. Go for a swim and float, no prob! But please float in the vicinity of your camp, so as not to disturb other campers.
- Please do not invite visitors to your campsite. This is an insurance issue, no exceptions. If you want friends and family to experience our beautiful spot, please have them sign up and book a site, wouldn't that be more fun anyway!? People coming to our land who are not booked at a site will immediately be shown off the property.
-Due to many guests asking for earlier arrival and later departure times, we are strictly adhering to the posted check in and check out times.
- No generators!

- Free, unlimited wood for your campfires. Each site comes with a fire ring.

Looking to tend to you? Would it be to rest in nature and soak up the sounds and wonder of our wooded landscape, explore hiking trails and national and state parks, float down the Potomac, and/or visit historic sites and towns? Fern Yabin (a hard sided yurt) is nestled in a forest on a ridge (Elk Ridge) directly across from the Maryland Appalachian Trail. We are tucked down in a holler surrounded by streams, towering Poplars, wildlife and dappled sunshine. The land hosts some animals - a goat, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks while growing medicinal plants, seasonal edible berries/fruits (wineberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, elderberries, vine kiwi, pawpaw, etc.) and rocks (plenty of them). There is a couple of acres enclosed with an electric fence where the livestock guardian dog (Luna) roams with the animals. We also sell farm fresh eggs.
Fern Yabin is a rustic hard sided yurt style cabin that has hot and cold water, composting toilet, outdoor shower (cold water only), a indoor soaking tub, hot water kettle, an outdoor propane grill, ceiling fan, outdoor patio and fire pit, skylight, WiFi, and lots of character. The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. If you are a thru hiker, drop off and pick up is available for a fee. Please inquire upon booking.
We are 10 minutes to the Appalachian Trail (Weverton Cliffs/Gathland SP and Crampton Gap) and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers (great for tubing/kayaking/wading/swimming). There are outdoor outfitters within 15 minutes where all kinds of wonderful adventures await including a brewery with a stunning vista of the river and area. We are 15 minutes away from historic Harpers Ferry. Antietam National Battlefield and other historic sites are within 30 minutes. For amazing dining opportunities and small city life - Frederick, MD, Boonsboro, MD, Brunswick, MD, Shepherdstown, WV and Charles Town, WV are about a 30 min drive. We are also close to several state parks in the tri state area (MD, VA, WV).

This was the perfect spot for our family. We had 7 people with us, 2 adults and 5 kids aged 7 to 17 and 1 large dog. We spent 2 nights in July and the weather was warm, but not unbearable. Spot 9 was fine for us and we went to the river constantly. The river was great, it was nice and quiet at night, no road noise, nothing just seclusion! Greg, the owner, was really helpful and down to earth. I really appreciate him providing us with a 5 gallons jug of water to wash our hands. The wood was more than generous for the price paid and it lasted a long time. Loved the site loves the river, loved the stay. We will be back!

We had a great time at Strawberry Crossroads. We stood in the cabins. We had a good experience there. No issues, pretty clean. The restrooms and showers were clean as well. We were able to grill and chill with no issues. TJ was a great host. Always on point and easy to reach. I will recommend this place to anyone that loves the outdoors.

Angela and her family have a beautiful and well-cared for piece of land. Me and my two kids very much enjoyed our night staying on their property and appreciate the obvious care they put into making it a comfortable site. Kids particularly loved the small creek and the rooster. I loved that it was a wide open space where they could run around and explore and still be visible while I sat near the camp fire. Highly recommend!

We loved the hipcamp! It was quiet and private. Plenty of wildlife. Clean and comfortable. The host was very accommodating to our late arrivals in the evening as we were in town for a concert and exploring in Baltimore. This was very convenient to Baltimore. Not having a restroom of some sort was a little inconvenient, but we were made aware of that beforehand and so prepared accordingly.

There were lights strung up to help with visibility in the woods, we had an outdoor sink, electricity, access to a shower, ports potty’s and we were camped next to a little river, it wasn’t deep enough for swimming, but the kids had a great time skipping rocks, sitting in the water, catching minnows and crawfish. There was plenty of wood laying around for our fire pit. No one cared that we were up late listening to music, having kids running around screaming. And it was awesome, I would 10/10 recommend this place to stay and will stay again. Only negative I have is the public park down the way that was mentioned “black hills regional park” did not allow boats with gasoline motors and rentals with electric motors were limited to people with the boating safety course, the sea weed made fishing rough, but the water was warm enough to swim and a great place to visit.

We had a wonderful stay at The Crow's Nest! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset—the views over the water are peaceful and unforgettable. This is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and disconnect from the busy world.
One of the things we loved most was how private and secluded the campsite felt. It was quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful nature, making it easy to truly unwind.

This spot is nicely tucked away and very cozy. The views are amazing. The signs for navigating the back of the property were easy to follow. If you enjoy birdwatching or fishing, this is an amazing place to stay.

Peggy's land was the definition of relaxing. Beautiful sunsets and sunrise. The pond was definitely the highlight of our weekend! Numerous fish caught. Peggy was so sweet and really wanted to make sure we were comfortable. Can't wait to visit again.

The campsite was awesome and included a fire pit and a concrete table. When we realized we were going to arrive later in the evening than expected, TJ was gracious and accommodating. The goats and chickens were fun to wake up to and the bathroom and shower facilities were clean and well cared for. We’ll definitely be back!

Western Maryland
