Canoein' Sue's on the Chester River
Sue's is a special spot on the Chester River. We came over for a weekend to the Downrigging Fest and enjoyed paddling up and down the Chester from the camping spot. Sue was so kind and helpful and we even got a visit from a small flock of escaped turkeys!

I really enjoyed tent camping at Canoein' Sue's. It was cozy, and quiet enough given the proximity to the highway. Sue took most excellent care of us and I can't wait to get back!

Great spot and super easy to find and use. For campers without a full RV, the ābathroomā is awesome with a portable toilet and shower as well as a hose for cleaning up. The Fire pit is great, the river access is great, Sue was great! There is noise from the highway, which I donāt mind, but some may want ear plugs for sleeping. The tree cover overs plenty of shade in the afternoon. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great stay at Sue's! Enjoyed using the canoe to get out on the water, and had a nice private stay at the campsite. The provided picnic table, toilet facilities, hose, and electric hookup all came in handy and we saw lots of interesting wildlife out on the river (bald eagles and kingfishers were highlights). Would stay again if passing through the area!

The campsite was as described. I enjoyed both the privacy of the spot and the welcome (and with consent) visits from Sue and her cute pups. Sue is a sweet and attentive host and made sure I had what I needed. Overall a great place to stop over on my trip!

We loooooved staying at Canoeinā Sueās, truly a pleasure and a joy. The location is easy to access from Philly and we had no problem finding the place. The river is a SHORT walk from the site, so thatās one of the best parts ā swimming and canoeing as often as youād like. There were limited boats so you could swim as much as you wanted, just be courteous of the neighbors. You do need to pack your bug spray, but that is to be expected on a riverside.
Everything we might have needed, Sue was happy to offer. Lovely fire pit and cooking grates. We also got tons of time with her sweet dogs, and Sue was attentive and always making sure we were still enjoying their company. Which we WERE. We loved them, they loved us, and we had the best time.
We would heartily recommend this site and we will absolutely be coming back.

Absolutely beautiful couple of nights at Canoeinā Sueās campsite. Perfectly located by the river so our pups had a fun night chasing sticks into the water. Very spacious area for our camper and lovely campfire location. Thank you for an amazing weekend and I totally recommend this location for anybody looking for a couple nights off the grid.

Four of camped with a tent and a campervan. Sue was wonderful. She was very welcoming and offered us a fan (95 degrees!) and earplugs (July 4th). There was 20 amp electric on a long extension cord and a hose for our use. Also, a cassette toilet and enclosed shower area. She really went above and beyond to make us comfortable while still giving us a lot of privacy. Canoeing on the river was the highlight of our trip. We saw many bald Eagles and caught some fish. There is a nice fire ring and plenty of shade. She has some adorable dogs, but they are screened from view which was fantastic for our reactive dogs. I would highly recommend!

Had a great weekend camping on Sueās land. Sue was a lovely host and greeted us upon arrival to show us around. The directions to camp were easy to follow. Despite some rainy weather and humidity, we really enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Nature is abundant and I loved overlooking the garden. My favorite aspect of the site is the sandy soil which made for an excellent tent bed. The only drawback I would note is the proximity to the highway, but itās nothing a pair of earplugs canāt fix when sleeping. This site is absolutely worth the visit! Thanks, Sue! āŗļø

Despite the heat, a rare occasion, it was a great spot. Sue was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and had all the accoutrements of a perfect camp site.

This place rocks. Great location, homey vibe, and the coolest of the cool hostess who will literally go out of her way to make you feel at home and welcome....I loved it so much i booked two days for this week too!! This time I am going to use that canoe and catch some fish!

Sue was a very friendly host and we had a ton of space for our small camper and even my sons car. the site felt pretty private and did not feel like we were camping in someones yard. She had plenty of fire wood we could have purchased but it was just too hot. Our only complaint had to do with the uncut grass and the site just felt unkept. We were expecting the tent bathroom and camping toilet and since it was hot the cold shower felt great.

Beautiful spot and very nice host. Unfortunately the breaker for the electric kept tripping while we ran the AC. Otherwise a quiet spot with privacy and good location.

Sue was a lovely host and the use of her canoe and access to the river were great. The camp toilet and shower were also nice. But the site did not provide the type of experience we usually seek when camping. The property was in a housing community and the campsite itself was quite close to the main house; basically in the front yard. This is a great spot if you're looking for a place to stop and access to the river, as long as you're not looking for a more remote camping experience. And you could not find a nicer hostess.

First family canoe trip

We really enjoyed our stay with Sue & all the amenities her property had to offer. The main reason I booked with Sue was for dog reasons. We brought our dog, who isnāt the friendliest with other dogs. A lot of hipcamp site descriptions I read previously alluded to the fact that the host or other campers would have off-leash dogs. Sueās description clearly noted that her dogs would be contained in a fenced-in area and that put our minds at ease. She even has part of the fence tarped off so dogs canāt see each other and that kept all parties happy & safe.
We set up our tent under a big tree and it was a very short walk down to the river. We were able to take the canoe out a couple times and paddle around on the beautiful Chester river. As ācity slickersā it was our first time in a canoe with our dog and we had a blast.
We forgot to bring matches for the fire and Sue was quick to respond via text and brought some right out. Thanks Sue!! Appreciate you!

Canoein' Sue's exceed expectations! My buddy and I did a quick weekend trip over one night to fish. We caught a ton of catfish using her canoe. We used her firewood which was very convenient and we enjoyed having the picnic table. We would be back if we can make it out again!

We got a way with words and could row on forever about the universe and how your always right where your supposed to be. When we found ourselves in Sue's path. We were once again given the gift of recognizing that within seconds of meeting this beautiful host. Her patch of property couldn't be more perfect for any camping. The wholesome yet wild n free that Sues place exudes. The feels are perseverance, planning and pure joy here. But even that doesn't hold a candle to the shine inside her as a host & human being. There's updates taking place on outdoor bathroom n shower. Yard is flat n partly shaded. River is cool and we loved our trip out. saw eagles! Fire ring, picnic table. Her pups are well mannered n quite. We're traveling across country. This was our first stop n I could have stayed longer.. but, it's time..Much love from us to you! You are part of our journey forever more

Canoein' Sue's was an amazing site with an amazing host. Everything was exactly as listed on the site, and her amenities were more than what you get from a typical hipcamp. The included canoe was a big plus and so fun for the kids. We will be back!

Sue is an excellent host! Really enjoyed meeting her and the spirit of her place. She is a wealth of information and just fun to talk to.
The two sites are reasonably distanced, each with their own amenities and ambiance. Both were immaculate and clearly well taken care of.
I will say that the noise from the 301 bridge can be disappointing, but ignore it and paddle upstream at high tide and you will find a wonderful, peaceful world.
