We have a beautiful forested mountain that sits at the southern edge of the GreenRidge State Forest. We sit on top of the Paw Paw tunnel and have access to the C and O Canal Trail. We view this place has nature's forest that we are stewards of. We are reclaiming this land that was clear cut over a hundred years ago for an apple orchard and then used as a sawmill and car dump. We have a beautiful deciduous and pine forest with an incredible scenic mountain top that can view the Potomac River at one end. Each day we are working the land to create a beautiful back to nature spot for campers, hikers, bikers, river and travel enthusiasts. Currently we are suited for being a “bring all your stuff with you” camping as we are completely off grid.

Hilltop Camp 1

98%
(76)
Tent site · Sleeps 6
Pitch your tent on our Hilltop Campsite. All children and adults are welcome here. We have friendly dogs at our main cabin and your friendly dogs are welcomed. Fire-pit is available along with lots of peace and quiet. This is a no facilities campsite. Cell service is available on the hilltop but won’t be available if you hike into valleys in the area. You will be surrounded by trees and the beauty of our food forest islands.  This is a rustic spot that you must climb a hill to get to it. It’s a steep hill (3-5 minutes) but worth it. 4x4s are allowed to climb the trail gently. We have even helped a wheelchair bound nature enthusiast to the site. Your car and RV remain at the base of the hill safe and private near our main cabin. ***June2023 Update*** Your truck can now climb the hill. We aren't quite ready to allow cars up the hill because of some bumpy clearance issues on our trail but we are close!!! Campsite facilities: cleared flat spot for tent a firepit turtles, frogs, deer and many many birds 5 gallon hand pump local spring water jug 2 rocker chairs and bistro table 6 foot picnic table with umbrella Excellent 2 person porch swing that hangs from the trees rustic trails throughout property A clean outhouse is at top of property (not right next to campsite but a short hike away) A hot camp shower is available at our lower cabin. ( not next to your campsite but right next to your vehicle) You are welcome to visit us at the lower cabin- we usually have a firepit going at night and happily welcome you.  You can even take shelter at our garage or cabin if those Appalachian rainstorms come through. Just 500 feet from the back of our property is the GreenRidge State Forest and access to the Paw Paw Tunnel and C and O Canal Trail. Paw Paw WV is 3 miles away and has a restaurant, dollar general and gas station. We can even chauffeur you to and from the trail or shopping. Cumberland is 25 miles away with all other shopping needs. There is someone on site all day to chat and help you if needed or you can be alone to talk with the trees. Because of our unique location there is almost no vehicle noise at night. No highway traffic sounds, plane engines are almost nonexistent. There are occasional sounds of a train several miles away. An artist cabin for off grid residence will be available Fall 2024. We are just beginning this new adventure home and would love to host you.

Maple Grove site has a 1-2 person canvas tent with blow up bed and working wood stove. There is also a firepit, picnic table and free wood available to burn. 🔥 This site is excellent for a little warm winter camping. Porta potty a short walk away Wood included for indoor stove and firepit. Canvas octagon tent included Potable Water included Stars included Car parking is about a 100 ft walk away.
