I was unable to stay on the property as it was very late, dark and foggy when I arrived. Another couple tried to help me find where my site was but I was unable to find it. Having a sign pointing to the site would have been very helpful. I ended up at a hotel as I was unable to get ahold of the host

We were in town for a Geocaching event being held in Fredrick, MD. I booked this site because you just can't find campsites at this price anymore! We stayed at the Hilltop campsite- which will test your very existence if you have to walk up to it. It's a steep hike up!! After an already exhausting day, we were BEAT after lugging up our stuff in 3 trips. I feel a little misled on this HipCamp listing. It notes there's a bathroom nearby... wrong. It's a good maybe 5 minute walk from the Hilltop site... but its located in/next to one of their other sites! And when we we're staying, someone was in that site! Im not going to walk up on them, in their site, to use the porta potty! Talk about invasion of privacy- because if it were me, I wouldn't appreciate others walking up into our campsite. This isn't a deal breaker for us because we usually camp completely off grid. But if its something you need, do NOT stay at the Hilltop site. There was a rain barrel at our site, but it was empty. A trash can, wooden swing, picnic table, 2 chairs and a large firepit were all provided. The property is practically on top of Paw Paw tunnel! The host was very nice- and meeting their huskies really made my day! We arrived late(r) on our check-in day- the host had already started a fire for us!! So once we were at the top, all we had to do was throw a couple of logs on and it kicked right up!! Now, that's something you dont get anywhere else! Host was NOT responsive to messages AT ALL. Overall, 8/10

I love the campsite!!! Far from the neighbors and have a beautiful view during nighttime. I didn't know the tent was provided for the site which will save some time. Definitely worth my trip on a labor's Day weekend!

Kat's place is really special. I enjoyed getting to know about all the projects on her property. She was kind, helpful, and responsive during both the booking process and the duration of our stay.
My group stayed at The Potomac View site, which, honestly didn't have a few of the river (as far as I saw). The full moon was beautiful rising over the mountain. There was plenty of clear sky for stargazing. We're likely to return!
Campers, if you are going to collect firewood in the forest, I would suggest you bring a bag or container for carrying wood. Folk with allergies, there were a lot of bees in the area. Be aware and use caution.

Amazing experience! Very very quiet place! No disturbance. Camp sites were far away from each other hence no disturbances to other campers unlike the park managed camp sites in Fairfax VA which are side by side or very close. There is a welcome center in 3 miles if someone wants to get freshened up in the early morning but no shower, Mobil gas station, dollar general.

a lovely camp site run by lovely people! the view of the mountains is still great with all the leaves on the trees, and it’s next to some great places to check out. i had a lot of fun exploring, walking through the (scary!) paw paw tunnel, hiking, and some kayaking in the potomac and a creek after a fun drive on a secluded unpaved road. beautiful view of the stars at night if it’s clear.

We had an amazing stay at Hilltop Camp! The site was beautifully maintained with a peaceful, private setting surrounded by nature. Firewood was provided, and the host even arranged it neatly for us — such a thoughtful touch. The shower setup was clean and convenient, making our stay super comfortable. One of the highlights was the walk to Paw Paw Tunnel, just a short and scenic stroll from the site. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Highly recommend this place — we’ll definitely be back!

Our experience was amazing. We camp on father’s day weekend. This was my kids first camping experience. We did get rain but we enjoy it. There’s plenty of space for a hammock and a lot of spaces for tent we booked the hill top theirs is a big picnic table two rocking chairs and a little table also a swinging chair. There was plenty of fire wood and a lot of animals we were the only ones camping that weekend. You can hear the trains some planes and a lot of animals around is really dark so you would be able to enjoy the stars we didn’t get to see them because it was raining but we love sleeping through the night hearing the rain. My group was 3 adults, 3 children’s and 1 dog. We had two cars but my car didn’t get to the top is really steep so you would need an all wheel drive car to get to the top. We are planing on going again with all the family we have 3 tents and all three fitted perfectly. There is a porta potty not too far from camp site. They have water and we had cell service all the time. Definitely a 10/10 experience. Host were amazing they also have showers available.

Such a beautiful, well kept spot! Even though we had quite a bit of rain, we had such a wonderful time here. The hilltop site was very private and lovely. We had everything we needed and the easy trail access right from our camp was great. This would be a perfect stop for bicyclers to camp while passing through!

The size of the site was more than adequate for our needs even with our 12 person tent. It was muddy due to recent rain (host put down some mulch which helped where it was placed). There is a fire ring and Port-a-John right there. The (not 6 foot) picnic table was in poor condition. There was more noise than advertised both from frequent trains as well as road noise and barking dogs during the night . The host seemed very nice. Overall an okay experience just not what we hoped based on the site description.

Absolutely beautiful place! We enjoyed 3 nights sleeping under the stars and bird watching. Tim was very helpful navigating our 4x4 up the hill to our camp spot (you do need 4x to climb the hill). There was plenty of down trees for firewood and a large container to collect/carry back to camp. 5-gallon water jug with spring water was provided, and refills as need. Pota potty was located down the hill. The camp was equipped with a swing, 2 chairs, side table and a picnic table with an umbrella. For the most part, it was very peaceful with the occasional train in the distance and barking dogs from the neighbors. Not much traffic noise, no people....just nature. Thank you, Tim and Kat, for sharing your little piece of solitude.

Wonderful hosts have made a special place right above the Paw Paw Tunnel. I camped in a small field with easy access to car and Portapotty but it rained and Kat allowed me to sleep in the tent a short walk up the slope- so cosy and quiet and private. I walked right down to the canal trail and the tunnel. Be sure to bring your bug spray!

The blowup bed in the tent is a real convenience, too!
Most importantly, Tim and Kat are lovely, and accommodating. It was a pleasure meeting them and their puppies.

Beautiful again and so kind and helpful, they set the area up for us before we arrived when we were coming in late are just tremendously thoughtful, i love this site and it has such a spectacular view while also being easy to get to and set up (even in the dark 😆) located in a quiet area, we saw some bats and heard some owls and i love hearing the train in the distance as well !

Definitely follow the hosts driving directions once you get off the highway! Ended up at hilltop view due to an error but it was an absolutely happy accident! Probably one of the quiet nights on our trip and the most beautiful. I recommend a car with 4WD capabilities as there was a bit of a climb to to the spot.
