Tenting, Campers & Off-Grid Parking at The Kutaway
Tenting at The Kutaway is about reconnecting with nature across 140+ acres of forest, trails, and quiet corners to call your own. Whether you're in a tent, parking your RV, or setting up a rooftop rig for the night, we welcome you to experience this land with freedom and respect.
We gladly accommodate personal campers and RVs, which can be parked near home base or tucked deeper into the woods for privacy. While we do not provide electric hookups, quiet generators and solar systems are welcome—just please be mindful of your neighbors and the peaceful setting.
We've also had guests in land-roving or vehicle-based camping setups, using the property for overnight or extended stays. You're welcome to do the same! We simply ask that you treat your setup like an RV and find a spot a bit deeper into the property, as some guests unfamiliar with this style of camping may not understand it. This helps maintain comfort and a sense of safety for all.
💧 There is a shared water spigot near home base for filling jugs or RV tanks, and for those staying longer, we offer a designated black tank septic dump station. While it may be a hassle to pack up and move your RV to dump, we ask that no waste be emptied into the wilderness. Keeping the property clean ensures the beauty of this land remains for every guest who visits.
🚽 A clean and private outhouse is available, but please note: there is no bathhouse at this time. We hope to unveil one in the next year as we continue to grow and improve the experience here at The Kutaway.
🗑️ And as always—this is a pack-in, pack-out property. Please help us keep it clean by removing all waste and using the dumpster at the front of the property near the log yard before you leave.
Our camping season runs from May 12 through October 31. We do not accept off-season bookings unless prior arrangements are made. If you are requesting a winter stay, we must ensure that you can access your site without assistance, and you accept full responsibility for any weather-related damage. This includes—but is not limited to—burst pipes, structural issues, or snow/ice damage to your camper or gear.
The Kutaway is not liable for any such damages incurred during off-season stays.

Because our property is large and partially unstaffed, we rely heavily on the honesty and integrity of our guests to maintain both safety and comfort for everyone who stays at The Kutaway. That begins with one simple—but essential—expectation: Please accurately report the number of people in your group.
While it might seem easy to overlook or hide an extra guest, a second tent, or an unexpected overnight visitor, doing so breaks the trust we place in you—and it puts others at risk. When we don’t know who is coming and going, we can’t ensure the safety of the space. Many of our guests are families, solo travelers, or people seeking a peaceful retreat—and they’re relying on that same mutual trust and transparency.
We open our land, our animals, and our home to you with the deep belief that guests will treat the space and each other with respect. When someone chooses to be dishonest about who is staying, it forces us to ask: if this line is being crossed, what other boundaries might be ignored?

The Kut Away is a work in progress, set on over 140 acres of evolving woodland. While improvements are ongoing, you're welcome to explore and set up anywhere in the woods. For your convenience, we’ve created dedicated cleared spots that include a fire ring and picnic table—perfect for relaxing, cooking, or simply soaking in nature.
You can drive to Portland ( 1 h 18 min) and check out lighthouses or to Bangor (1 h 40 min). Lewiston (40 min) The gas station is about five minutes away. The nearest grocery is 15 minutes in town Jay/ Livermore Falls and the nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes in Farmington.
Guests have full access to the camper area, surrounding trails, picnic spots, and open woodland. While the main house and barn are private and not for guest entry, you're welcome to enjoy and interact with our friendly farm animals, who often roam freely throughout the property.
Your stay can be as relaxed or connected as you prefer. I’m happy to give you space or provide full interaction—whether it’s a quick welcome or ongoing help via call or text. If you need anything during your stay, just reach out—I’m here to make your visit comfortable!

Raw Tent Camping — Pick Your Own Adventure
These are true raw, as-is tent sites on 140+ acres—where you camp is part of the adventure. There’s no assigned square of perfectly groomed grass waiting for you. Explore the property and choose the spot that feels right.
Tuck yourself deep into the woods for privacy, stay closer to the main path, find a soft sandy patch, settle into a grassy clearing, or discover your own little corner of the property. As long as you’re safely off the roadway and within The Kut Away property boundaries, the choice is yours.
Some areas are cleared and ready to go; others are exactly as nature and recent logging left them. Expect uneven ground, sticks, roots, leaves, dirt, sand, mud, bugs, and all the other things that come with real camping in the Maine woods.
See a spot you love that needs a little clearing? Ask us! Kyle and I can’t guarantee we can make every location work, but if equipment and time allow, sometimes your perfect campsite is only an afternoon of clearing away.

The space The Golden Hour is a bright, welcoming camper that lives up to its name—designed to capture the warmth and glow of Maine’s natural beauty. With an abundance of windows, you’ll enjoy gentle breezes, fresh air, and natural light from morning to evening. Whether you're returning from work, the trail, or just a quiet moment outside, this space offers a calming place to land.
While cozy in feel, it’s not cramped—especially for a couple. The layout is open and comfortable, offering a refreshing space to relax and reset. Golden Hour is best suited for a couple, though it can also comfortably accommodate a couple and one small child, or three adults snugly, with the third guest using the fold-down table as a bed.
One of Golden Hour’s standout features is its on-demand hot water system—a rarity in campers. Unlike others with small tanks that limit showers to just a few minutes, here you can enjoy longer, more comfortable showers without rushing.

The space The Winnow offers the cozy feel of a home and the polished touches of a boutique hotel—but make no mistake, you're still in the woods, and this is still a camper. Inside, you’ll find a crisp, clean space with a comfortable queen bed, warm lighting, soft linens, and even a cribbage board for slow mornings or late-night games by the fire's glow. You may also hear the rustle of leaves, spot a few bugs, or track in some trail dust on your boots. That’s part of the charm.
Please keep in mind that while The Winnow is made for comfort, it's still a camper—delicate in ways a house isn’t. Treat it gently; things can break more easily than they would in a traditional home. It's comfort reimagined—without losing the wild.
The Winnow is best suited for a maximum of three guests—ideally two adults, or a family with one little one or an infant. Trash receptacles are provided inside each camper, along with a bottle return bin located near the camper area. If your trash needs to be taken out during your stay, feel free to let me know, and I’ll gladly take care of it. There is also a dumpster available in the wood lot near the entrance for your convenience when coming or going.
