Forty five years ago, our family started assembling 400 acres of woods and fields on the banks of the beautiful Androscoggin River. We enjoy actively managing the property for wildlife habitat and tree growth. The diverse landscape includes over 1/2 a mile of river frontage, a 10 acre wildlife pond, rolling hills in the meadows and steep forested terrain with more than 10 miles of multi-use trails running throughout. Our lands have long been open to local hikers, bikers and cross country skiers, we are excited to share this beautiful property with a larger community. Scout for wildlife and birds, on our private 400 acres of forests and fields. Tire yourself by hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing the 10 miles of private trails.  Located across the river from Riverlands State Park, just minutes from Lewiston-Auburn, Bates College, local breweries and just 2 1/2 hours from Boston. Wildlife abounds both on the property and across the river at Androscoggin Riverlands State Park. Quite often, a gentle breeze off the water will offer relief from black flies and mosquitoes, but the right bug repellent is recommended especially to fend off those pesky ticks that are so common in Maine.

Slippery Rock Tiny Cabin
Family Fun!
We had a magical weekend at Slippery Rock. We grandparents stayed in the cabin and my sons each had a tent site with their families. It was perfect! The little ones ran free in the fields and splashed in the water. There is such a feeling of open space, nature, serenity, and beauty here. The hosts are lovely stewards of an amazing refuge. Thank you John and Pat for keeping and sharing this land.

Site 1 - Slippery Rock Riverbank Tent Sites
We loved our time here! A couple of notes: The site was very big. The port-a-potty was clean. Each site has their own but at site 1 it’s located closer to the tenting area than at the other sites (shorter walk in the middle of the night!). There is a wooded gully between sites 1 and 2 and you can kind of see people at site 2 and you can hear their kids. There were lots of daddy long leg spiders on site 1! The owners were friendly and welcoming. The drive in is through a mowed field and easy but I’d suggest bringing a car with more ground clearance. The river was low when we were there and each site had a nice little beach. There’s a grocery store, Gowell’s, 5 minutes away and a great farm store/bakery about 15 minutes away, Nezinscot. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return!

Slice of heaven
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Tent 3 Campground, which came highly recommended by Mike at Walden Vans—and for good reason! The campground offers convenient porta potty facilities and access to trails spanning over 12 miles, which were perfect for a relaxing trail run. We wish we could have stayed longer to fully appreciate the beautiful land that Pat and John work so hard to protect. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the gate, given a tour, and made to feel completely welcome. The sunrises and sunsets are unparalleled—highly, highly recommend this spot!
