Brand new off grid, rustic campsite available near the beautiful Bold Coast of Maine! This secluded camp is a half mile down a dirt road from coastal Route 1 in a perfect location to experience all that the Bold Coast has to offer. Rocky beach photos were taken at a nearby shoreline, not at the camp itself. The camp is just two miles from the town's general store, yet private. You can rent kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards in nearby Machias, to explore local lakes and rivers. The nine-mile long paddling trail system of the Orange River Conservation Area is only 3/4 miles away. Hike the spectacular coastland trails, watch waves crash against the forested cliffs of Cutler Coast Public Reserved land, which can be accessed from the property by road or by four-wheeler trails. You can rent ATVs in Machias. Discover the beauty and adventure of the 80 mile long Sunrise Trail. Rent bikes in Eastport, explore Lubec and the famous West Quoddy Head Lighthouse at the easternmost corner of the United States. You'll find the absolute best and freshest lobster and other seafood at the excellent restaurants just a short drive from the campsite. A brand new graded driveway leads 100 feet into the property to the sandy campsite. The two room tent includes two sturdy camp cots, a table and camp chairs, a screened area to relax and watch the incredible display of stars in the night sky, or sip coffee and enjoy the sunrise with your hillside view. You will have a firepit in the open air, and a separate privacy tent with a composting toilet. 10 gallons of spring water are provided, but if you need more you'll need to bring it. All necessary provisions are available at the country store down the road. The only temporary downside is the lack of lush vegetation surrounding the campsite. It's coming! The land was recently logged, and nature is at work reclaiming the logs and branches to enrich the soil and bring forth berries, flowers and vegetation. Until then, the animals enjoy the habitat even if it seems unsightly to us. Also coming soon: a screened and covered tent platform for even more space! Meanwhile, this is a private, affordable getaway in the boreal Maine forest, close to amenities, lakes, and unspoiled rocky beaches yet tucked away for privacy.Brand new camp will be ready for camping by June 19th! This private Coody Koala 5 tent is at the end of a new, 100 foot gravel driveway by the tree line. The campsite is level, dry, and comfortably spacious with an expansive view of the sky and stars. Rustic, off grid camping with convenience: the tent is furnished with two sturdy camping cots, two chairs, and a table, a cooler and a cooking grate for the fire pit. A privacy tent with a composting toilet is also provided. Campers need to bring their own bedding and campfire cooking utensils. Ice can be purchased at the general store two miles down the road, as well as ready made meals, coffee, pastries, drinks, fishing bait, beer and more. Canoes, kayaks and four wheelers are available to rent in nearby Machias. Miles of dirt roads and trails are directly accessible from this location. Lakes, rivers, blueberry barrens, excellent local seafood, beaches, and hikes along stunning wooded cliffs are all no further than 20 miles from this convenient campsite half a mile away from Route 1.
