so much better than camping
this cabin is perfectly amazing from its stone floors to its brick walkways to its handhewn beams. the view it stunning: ocean. islands. cranberry bog. tide going in & out. just stunning. kayaking was perfect. fishing was unsuccessful but was still beautiful. cooking on the wood burning stove was easy & fun (tons of kindling & wood). there was plenty of hot water, our phones both had good signals, and the solar panel kept the lights on in the cabin & the phones fully charged no problem. Lisa is wonderful!! she had plenty of fresh drinking water plus a cooler of ice waiting for us. she has thought of every single thing you might need while there. the bed was super comfortable with fresh clean sheets. the entire cabin was clean & organized.

True solitude, beauty, and life
The hardest part was leaving to go home. I cannot say enough about this place, it is truly wonderful.
Lisa is an AMAZING host, she is responsive via hipcamp messages and phone, she is warm and relaxed and welcoming and showed us how to use the quirky stuff and showed us where important things were. There is also a comprehensive and concise how-to book available at the cabin.
The cabin is stocked with pretty much everything you could need (and Bath is 10 minutes away so if you forgot something you can just stop there), we brought way too much not realizing that it really had almost everything (including but not limited to kitchen/cooking stuff, axes, games, a fishing rod and tackle, extra blankets, toilet paper, paper towels, lanterns, candles, towels, a cooler, matches, first aid kit). We made a new, much smaller, packing list for next time. Lisa stocks the firewood and water herself, you really just need clothing, a good book, and food.
There are beautiful trails on the island from one end to the other. We spent most of our time watching the tides come in and out, walking and exploring the island, chopping wood, maintaining the wood stove, and cooking. There is a gas stove but we HIGHLY recommend using the cook stove since you'll have a fire going anyway (most likely if it's not super hot outside). We spent our evenings watching the sunset, moonrise, and stars and playing cribbage on the porch.
Being out there reminded us what living really means. We will be back.

We (and our dogs) had a wonderful time on Hocomock Island! It was super private and peaceful. We sat and watched the tides go in and out and listened to the seals and the birds. Lisa was an incredibly attentive and generous host. We loved hearing the history of her family and the intention that went into building the cabin and homestead. A real treasure! We hope to return. Thank you Lisa for sharing your special place!

A great change of pace!
Great calming space. Rained 2 of 3 days so I spent more time sitting inside or under the covered porch reading and writing. When the weather was nice I was out on the water or walking the island trails. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of making a fire in the stove to heat the water. Would absolutely return!

A cabin made with love
Hockomock Island was our honeymoon destination for 7 days and we really couldn’t have asked for anything better! It was early September when we went which typically isn’t the worst of the bug season… however the mosquitoes were vicious! Lisa has a ton of bug repellent supplies at the cabin, but I’d BRING YOUR BUG SPRAY for the initial walk. We’d also recommend getting a thermacell for when you’re just hanging out. Secondly, bring good shoes to walk in. This is not a traditional camping experience by any means and if you wish to adventure as much as we did you’ll want footwear and clothing that allows you to play.
The cabin was a dream - you can feel the love as soon as you walk in. The woodwork, stone floors, and open window concept was nothing but spectacular! And the mornings were the BEST! We’d wake up to the sun rising, brew our coffee and bring it over to the outhouse to have our morning dump together. Then we’d sit on the deck, listen to the birds, read a book, practice yoga and top it off with an ice cold shower in the middle of the kitchen!
From day to day we spent time fishing and followed the digger trails that led to the other side of the island. We brought our dog with us, who probably loved the island more than we did (if that’s even possible). We also took time to explore Bath’s downtown and we took a day in Portland which was a really easy drive. To say the least, we enjoyed ourselves and are making plans to return every year!

This cottage and the land and creatures that are a part of it is made of magic! We stayed with our close friends and two pups for 3 nights and had an absolute blast. It is surreal being tucked away with nothing but the tides and night skies to take notice of. There are amazing books, plenty of amenities and Lisa is a sweetheart. She went above and beyond ensuring we had a pleasant stay. We hope to make this a new annual getaway, as it couldn't have been more perfect.

We had an absolutely wonderful time! The view was breathtaking! We needed the opportunity to “step away” and this place was perfect for it. We saw seals nearly everyday! Lisa was a gracious host and made sure everything was just right. We will most definitely be back!

Celebrated 30 Years of Wedded Bliss
it was Awesome staying on this private island. It had everything you could want for a relaxing vacation getaway.
We hiked and hung out on the deck overlooking the water.
No houses in Site. It was Beautiful, the tide coming and going constantly. We saw birds, we saw a seal hanging out on the island next to us. My Husband fished and caught some nice Stiped Bass. and of Course we enjoyed a Wonderful Lobster dinner in the sunset while watching a seal hang out in the distance. The Cabin was a fantastic piece of Art! but Rustic! Thanks for a Great Stay Lisa!!

Hidden gem!
We had the most lovely stay at Lisa's beautiful property on the Maine coast. The house has an incredibly story to it, and has everything one could need for a peaceful quiet getaway in the woods. This place is a treasure - the wood stove and fireplace are incredible, not to mention the views of the water from everywhere in the cabin! Nothing can beat waking up to the sounds of the water :) thank you Lisa for your incredible hospitality!

Lisa’s cabin is by far one of the most magical places that I have ever been. The property is infused with love and peace. It’s rustic, so you have to be prepared for that. Paradise off the beaten path.
This is our new favorite home away from home! We tend to seek out places off the beaten path and what a gem it is. As homesteaders and having built our own recycled home here in Vermont, we can really appreciate the love and work that went into this amazing place. Hockomock Island is absolutely incredible! I truly do not know where to begin with describing our experience here… and I’m almost tempted not to because it is the epitome of a hidden gem. Completely remote, Lisa’s place made us feel like we were the last people on earth - in the best way possible. The short hike to access the cabin, made our stay feel even more special. The island is beautiful, serene, and teaming with wildlife. It rained on and off for most of our stay and we couldn’t have been happier. We watched seals playing off the shoreline, kayaked all around the surrounding islands, enjoyed the untouched nature and 360 views hiking around the island, and were serenaded at dinner each night by the local wildlife.
We also really loved learning about the history of the cabin. It was a labor of love, and that love can be felt in every inch of the cabin today. The space is fully functional and we were thrilled to discover that it had all the essentials for an off-grid getaway. Lisa was a fantastic host, going above and beyond to ensure that the stay exceeded all of our expectations. Lisa, thank you so much for sharing your magical Island!

So lovely.
This was wonderful! A beautiful, special, private get-away. We swam every day and spent a whole lot of time sitting on the deck, admiring the spot where we had just swum. The house is really interesting and beautifully designed and built and it was really fun to be able to learn about Lisa's step-dad who built it. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Hockomock Island was amazing. We enjoyed the peace the island provided. The cabin was spectacular and the views were fantastic. We enjoyed watching the seals from the deck and from on the water.

This is a truly spectacular place. The setting is beautiful, right on the water, with incredible views, access to the bay. And the house itself is cozy and charming, clearly built (by hand) with a lot of love. If you're looking for some peace and a place to connect with nature, this is the place.
