A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. After opening on July 1st 2020, the land is finally back to sharing all of her beauty and spirit with the people. So, Welcome Home. Sincerely, - Four Acre Woods Caretakers

Osprey Perch (20amp Hookup)
Fantastic campground! Particularly this site is very close to the sauna and across the path from the bathhouse. Feels private and cosy.

Heron Hideout (Canvas Tent Rental)
Love this campground. It had everything I needed. The yurt was cozy and came with a space heater for cold nights. The communal kitchen was fully equipped and the bathrooms were clean. Had a great time and will be back for sure

Fox Den (20amp Hookup)
The site was not as advertised. Very narrow and short. All the sites are on top of each other.

Osprey Perch (20amp Hookup)
This is a tiny campground, and the sites are very close together, but I was only there for one night, so it was sufficient. Having an electric hookup for the cold night and flush toilets was nice. The Osprey site is laid out differently than the photos... the firepit and bench are now in the back. I wouldn't book this site again with my van b/c I wasn't able to back in like I prefer. It was on such an angle to the road that I couldn't cut it tightly enough to back in. I would stay there again on a quick trip to Deer Isle, but I'd pick a different site.

Loch Ness Lake (RV 30amp)
It was conveniently located to a lot of hiking opportunities. It had a great welcoming community room where you could get to know a lot of the other campers and get out of the weather when needed. The campground was small and cozy but added to the sense of community.

Seal Cove (Geodome Rental)
A Unique and Quiet Campground
The campground is very well-maintained and offers a peaceful and quiet retreat. We stayed in Seal Cove (the geodome) and it couldn't have been more perfect. We were provided a heater, dishes and utensils, chairs and the most comfortable bed ever. Our only suggestion would be added a second stall in the men's restroom. The campground is super small and in a residential area. Deer Isle offers hiking trails for all levels, a few restaurants, and is about 1.5 hours from Acadia National Park. Would absolutely stay here again!
