Before you make a reservation read the description of each site, choices with different options. . Read all of the info, and when you submit your request please include/verify the following info: Is everyone in your group at least 21?/No kids or pets traveling with you.? What sort or camping unit.? Tent/RoofTent/RV/Hammock/Trailer./Van./ Box Truck or creative bus conversion/Cowboy Camper…? Your reservation request will not be accepted until we have those responsesSeveral of us live/work/answer messages here. Calling, directly by telephone in advance of reserving is STRONGLY advised and it is mandatory to arrange your arrival time with the staff to be allowed entry. Clarity with your request is necessary. At check out look at the “extras” section to include any pre purchases or rentals. For those flying in or wanting to travel light, you can select “The Works” which includes a tent, bedding , firewood , towels ,chairs, a cooler and numerous camping supplies including coffee and cups. Great for spontaneous adventures and we will have the tent site ready for you to just show up. Easy! Our camping section is located on the property of Kisma Preserve. Home to abundant local wildlife and our own resident animals ,Including domestic and non domestic and our favorite, Wolves. . Most of the staff live here full time all year. The sounds of the night are magical. Unleash your imagination and camp here away from the crowds that exist within the local Acadia National Park area which begins about 5 minutes away at Thompson’s Island and the bridge to Mt Desert Island. We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too by phone or in person only. impacts everything. Or If you want to have a solid roof , screens and a fabulous view ask about reserving our Cadillac Mountain View . Traveling with your horse.? Talk to us about an Equine site. The Biker’s Bunkhouse is ideal for motorcycle travelers as it shelters both the guest and the Bike/s. Always call, we can answer all questions to get you into the right site for your style of adventuring. With each listing be sure to READ all the information and the rules. If you are interested in a spontaneous camping adventure, if your luggage got lost or if you just don’t want to deal with transporting camping gear we have a variety of rental equipment. Last minute reservation requests may not work via the reservation site but we may very likely have a space. When you send your request please answer the following questions to expedite your acceptance. Is everyone at least 21? No pets with you? What are you camping in.? This is what our staff need to know about you in advance. This is No frills at all. Camp at the edge of a small brook or close to it. There is a fire ring. Adults over 21 only. No kids allowed. These sites are the furthest from the port o potty and hose and everything else. Secluded from other campers or neighbors, this can be your chance to sit naked by the campfire or see what it is like to sleep with nothing between yourself and the stars but your skin. A Very natural part of our grounds. And our only Naked site. If unavailable on your dates please check out our other options in Camping With Wolves, which are slightly less primitive.. or the comfy Cadillac Mt View Loft and Hammock site or Biker’s Bunkhouse. Clothing is optional only in the Raw and Rough  site, you can also choose to keep clothing on ! . It is very important that you call two zero seven six six seven three two four four  to be certain we know of your reservation and arrival. If you are trying to reserve within 12 hours of arrival, the system will reject you but you can potentially call us for last minute booking. It can be arranged but YOU MUST CALL. Not use the app method of calling. It does not necessarily reach us immediately. If we are able to answer, you may be in luck if there is a no show . Do not expect luxury. You may need to walk in depending on weather and your vehicle. If the weather is above freezing, there will likely be bugs. We are Away from the crowds of the nearby National Park and about 5 minutes to the bridge if you want to go there. This site is the least suitable of our choices for Equine Camping but we can talk about it. Shower and hose unavailable during freezing weather which is generally Nov-April.This site is usually unavailable in Winter months as it becomes inaccessible. CALL before booking.

Our camping section is located on the grounds of a nonprofit animal facility near Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Hear our wolves howl and enjoy the view of Cadillac Mountain. Sites are spread over a large area ,some are easy to drive or some are a short walk to your site. We need you to be specific as to the type of site you require. Call. Motorcycles are welcome, flat safe parking available. Arrangements for hammock campers possible. Our staff lives on the grounds, our tours and daily lives will be happening. . We provide porta-potty and dumpster and an outdoor hot shower during weather above freezing. No hook up of any type. Great exposure for your own solar panels or generator use. This is a functioning Animal Preserve; we will be going about our daily routine. This is no frills primitive camping, on a very unique propertyThis is not a glamping or resort style camping location. This is , oldschool, , barebones set up your equipment, sit around your fire enjoying the stars or fending off the mosquitos. Use this as your home base while you explore all this region has to offer. We require all guests to be at least 21. Our number is two zero seven six six seven three two four four. CALL. Although reservations must be made via Hipcamp please call this number for directions and arrange for the entry. We have a variety of sites from bare naked to a comfy loft with a view. It is essential to call and especially important to call promptly if you instant book or hope to arrive after sunset. Are you just looking for a place to roll in late, sleep in your car and go to a Cadillac Mountain Sunrise appointment before dawn.? Communicate that, we can and will get you into the right fit but It is imperative that you call to be sure we know of your reservation and arrival. You also may be able to grab a canceled or last minute space but YOU MUST CALL DIRECTLY. Do Not use the app system of calling. It may not reach us immediately, if ever. Usually No outdoor shower or hose from Nov-April but camping can still be arranged if you have adequate gear for the climate. Adventure Vans and tent camping with adequate gear will be allowed on a limited basis during Winter. Which is generally November-May. CALL before you book your reservation. Do not count on gps to get you here, it is very unreliable in this area. Call get real, verbal directions and write them down or print them as you may also not have reliable phone signal.

Cadillac Mt View Loft and Hammocks

This is a very unique spot. .It can be rented on it’s own or combined with an adjoining site . There is an indoor, upstairs loft, with a double bed, a downstairs area with a propane fire pit and a hammock for sleeping and relaxing in any weather. If it’s a good fit, you will awaken to one of the first sunrises on the East Coast and have a view of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. You will be within a private animal preserve. Adults over 21 only. No kids allowed. Also perfect for a small tent which can be inside the lower level or outside as you feel like.   A beautiful loft at the top of a ladder with views in 4 directions surrounded by stars, sunrise, sunset , fog or occasionally a view of the Northern Lights. Screened windows , solid walls and roof and serenity. No electricity, Take a step back to simplicity and unplug.  Motorcycles welcome and can be brought inside below . Essential to call BEFORE booking at two zero seven six six seven three two four four. We also have other overnight or weekly sites at Camping With Wolves or the clothing optional site Rough and Raw. Sometimes people cancel or just never show up. Call us to see if there is a last minute space. Direct Phone call  or text is the only sure way to contact promptly. Talk to us first. Depending on availability, customized timing and services can be arranged . This changes pricing. A romantic step up from tent camping or a perfect solitary retreat. . . Call for the most accurrate info.. Reserve a Camping With Wolves tent site or Biker’s Bunkhouse if dates for the Loft are unavailable.. The Loft is available year round unless ice/snow /mud make it inaccessible. Maine weather is anything from -50 with wind chill to 100 degrees. If it’s not freezing outside , bugs are likely. Days or weeks of fog and rain are common as are days and weeks of sunshine. Understand and prepare , The Loft is a great way to be more comfortable in a camping style setting regardless what may be happening outdoors. There is Access to the outdoor hot shower during non freezing seasons, typically available May-November. The water is turned off at freeze up.

Biker’s Bunkhouse

A room within a large barn offering rustic comfort and shelter from the elements for both yourself and your bike/s. A gravel driveway , easy to drive your bike/s right inside and stay a night or a few knowing all is safe and undercover with you. Not glamorous. There is a room with a queen bed with linens. Ready for a comfortable night. There is electricity. You have a space for your own outdoor campfire. We may also allow a tent to be set up either inside or out. In addition to the Queen size bed within the room, We provide 2 hammocks inside and a cooler for you to use here. This area is within our private grounds. The property is home to a variety of animals.We are Located approximately 5 minutes away from the Bar Harbor Airport and the bridge to Mt Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Roughly 20 minutes to the ferry to Nova Scotia and 90 ish miles to the border of New Brunswick. Questions.? Call us . We created this space for motorcycles but we welcome those of you traveling by bicycle too. This is a safe dry place to spread out , dry out and relax before or after a day of riding. Great location for exploring the Bar Harbor area without all the crowds and congestion. Locked gate provides security and access was hassle free with use of your own key. Minimal personnel contact for check in and check out. BJ and Heather were wonderful hosts, we will be returning soon and hopefully often!

The space allotted to us was SO spacious, and listening to the wolves chitter and howl at night was so cool! Beautiful property and great proximity to Acadia. My group also rented the barn loft, and that was a really unique and comfortable space for my friends who didn’t have camping gear. Having access to a hot shower was a huge plus! Heather was so generous and understanding while I tried to wrangle multiple people together and iron out plans, and I really appreciated her flexibility! Would definitely recommend to a friend!

It was a chill spot to camp for a couple of nights. It's next to the highway so there are car sounds but it's secluded enough to where you don't feel like you're being watched. The bathroom was just a porta potty and I didn't try their outdoor shower. Worked well in the fall time! But there weren't any trees in our campsite so I'd imagine it gets quite toasty in the summer.

We had an incredible stay at Kisma Preserve, camping for four nights. It was in an ideal location just 25-30 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Heather and the staff were welcoming and friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. When they say you’ll hear the wolves howling at night, they aren’t exaggerating! It was a thrill to see the wolves up close and hear their howls echo through the evening. Truly an unforgettable experience. Reading the negative reviews ( google)- some people do not understand that this is a sight to pitch your tent… there are facilities including running water, a hot outside shower, portapotty, and firewood on sight. If you are tent camping, it’s a great spot! If you need more facilities, go to a hotel.

OK enough, but it is an underwhelming campsite for the price. It is near the highway, situated on uneven ground (not ideal for a tent), and lacking amenities. The place is described honestly as primitive camping by the host, but for the price it could use a few more touches - even just a picnic table at each site.

I enjoyed the privacy that this tent site had to offer. There was a very pretty stream and pond at the campsite and it was out of view from the other sites and the road (though you could hear traffic noise). The hostess was very responsive, helpful, and laid back. It was not as remote as I was expecting and there were no flat spots to pitch a tent. We got the "total package" and there were a few things that could have been included, like a can opener, knife, cutting board, bowls, a jug of drinking water, a few more cooking utensils, and soap to wash up the dishes, but we made do the best we could. It was quiet at night and all in all, we had a nice camping trip conveniently close to Acadia.

Thoroughly read reviews on Hipcamp and for Kisma Preserve on google before booking! I did but didn’t believe a host could be THAT bad.. trust me she is…. I was supposed to stay here Friday through Monday. I did not get to stay as heather would not accommodate an 8 pm check on Friday or 4 pm on Saturday of my stay but would take my money. I followed the listing and called nearly two weeks before my arrival to arrange checkin. She said 8 pm arrival was very late and staff would be asleep and I would disturb campers. Fine I thought, I could arrange a different stay for Friday night. Then apparently there was a tour on Saturday at 4 pm during my proposed check in time. Um hello hire staff for both services if you offer both? I believe the reviews mentioning that she is hostile and yells at guests and is a drunk because my experience over the app and through the phone was enough for me to feel unsafe staying here. She wrote paragraphs to me in an aggressive and quite frankly unhinged manner. I have stayed at well over a dozen hipcamps over 5 years and never ever experienced a host like this. I feel bad for the animals and her staff that have to deal with her wrath regularly.

Pros hosts were duper nice and responsive felt very safe close to Acadia Roomy tent sites Cons This is NOT camping with wolves. It's camping near some wolves that you might be able to glimpse through a hedge if you time it right. Don't come for wolves the pictures are definitely misleading. Bathroom is REALLY far from the tent sites, so if it's raining you are going to get wet. The road is very close to where you're staying and pretty loud

Biker’s Bunkhouse
The experience was amazing. My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary. It was close to Acadia, which we went to every day. The sounds of the wolves nightly was truly a wonderful sound! We stayed in the bikers bunkhouse. The barn was clean and had everything we needed for a good nights rest. The outdoor shower had hot running water. Heather was a great host and answered all our questions. Thank you for a great experience!

We camped here for one night. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Listening to the wolves howl at night was amazing! We also took the VIP tour of the preserve the next day. We got to meet a few of the wolves along with other wildlife they had here. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone with an interest in wolves. I can’t praise this place enough. Such an amazing experience and well worth the price.

I loved camping on Heather's land, it was quite and peaceful. We stayed for 4 nights, didn't have anyone camping next to us. The sites are large and far apart from each other. We could hear the wolves howling at night from our 5th wheel. We saw the sunrise from out trailer window. Close to Acadia park. Took a wolf walk tour, it was amazing. Heather was so helpful with our stay, directions to get to there were easy to follow. I will definitely stay there again. Thanks Heather for a wonderful stay.

Biker’s Bunkhouse
This is a beautiful property with amazing animals that they are super knowledgeable about! You can tell how much they love the property and the animals, it was truly the most beautiful setting for a rustic Maine birthday getaway! The biker's bunkhouse was simple but comfortable and perfectly suited our needs (hammocks for camping in the main garage area and a private bedroom with a surprisingly comfy bed). Portapotty right outside the bunkhouse was extremely clean! There is fresh water and an outdoor shower available on site as well. We took one of the tours, a double wolf walk and it's an experience I will never ever forget! We will definitely return again :) as a Maine native I had always wanted to visit and I'm so glad I did. It's close to Acadia and a lot of fun shops as well! Myself and all my guests had a wonderful time!

The site was awesome! Super private, with the exception of the wildlife! Lots of birds and frogs, and true to promise- wolves howling each night. All was as expected and easy to navigate. The host was lovely and offered easy to understand instructions for staying on her land, which was secured with a chainlink-type fence for which you're given a key to come and go as you please. The porta-potty was fairly clean for a porta-potty and the shower was outdoors with hot water. Acadia National park was about a 30ish minute drive (past shops and lobster shacks, it was not unpleasant whatsoever).

The site feels very secure because it’s behind a gate despite being near the main road (if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs). Heather was super friendly and gave us information on how to get to the location. The tent site was hard soil that didn’t take our tent stakes well, which made it challenging to keep the tent weighed down, but the site was clean and the fire pit was nice. The toilet is a port-a-potty, which was decently clean. The shower is outdoors, which is fine, but has a hedge on one side and a wall on the other side, but it’s pretty much like showering in the wide open. Luckily, all the sites weren’t taken, so we had no waits to use the toilet or shower, but it would be ideal to put a door on the shower stall at least so you can take a shower without someone watching you. It felt like a high price for few amenities, but you know the money is going to a good cause to care for the animals on the preserve!

Kisma, Heather’s land is beautiful and so calming. I love it so much this is the third time I’ve been. The first time I didn’t camp, just took a tour and learned about the animals. This was my second time staying. My hubby and I are thinking this may be a yearly trip- we enjoy it so much. A peaceful get away, connecting with nature, your mind body and soul, and whoever you’re traveling with.

I admit that we arrived late at Heather's house. It was around 8:30 p.m. because we responded late to his last message. But we were greeted with great rudeness, as if we were bad animals. Alcohol certainly explained his behavior and his language towards us. Concerning the camp we were extremely disappointed and the price absolutely does not reflect reality. The toilets are disgusting. I recommend spending the night at the park's campsites where you'll pay much less.

The site we booked was private and quiet, the other sites looked nice too. Close to Acadia and affordable. The staff was responsive and helpful. Its basic camping where you get a spot and a fire pit, which is all we needed! Some amenities like an outdoor shower and bathroom
