The campsite was beautifully appointed and secluded. We really enjoyed our stay. It is on Great Cranberry island, which is only accessible by a short ferry or water taxi ride.

Gary has thought of everything and the camping was beautiful. The ocean sites sacrifice a bit of privacy for the view but that was worth it. Getting to the island felt daunting from afar, but everything went smoothly. The general store has most things you could need food-wise too! Great Cranberry won our hearts. Genuine, kind people and a beautiful, well-cared for island. Our dog had the time of her life. We will be back without a doubt.

AMAZING!!!!! What an incredible adventure. I kayaked to Great Cranberry Island from the mainland and spent an incredible night looking at the stars with Gary and other guests at his bonfire. Gary was such an incredibly gracious host. I accidentally misplaced my bag of food and he put out an all-points bulletin across the island, which successfully turned my bag up within a matter of hours. He was kind, generous, and had so many interesting stories to tell. I would definitely highly recommend spending a night or a week there.

Camping here was utterly magical! I am already making plans to come back here. Ocean views on one side, a beautiful meadow on the other. The site is private and there is a communal greenhouse you can gather under if you want to meet other campers. The ferry to the island was a blast! One of my favorite parts of our whole trip. We rented bikes on the mainland and biked around the island (which turns out we didn’t need to do because Gary kindly lends out bikes at the campsite) but it was so much fun to explore the island! Preble cove is stunning - we saw otters there in the morning. The general store has amazing breakfast sandwiches also if you’re looking for a break from camp food. All in all this campsite was the highlight of our trip! Also Gary was incredibly flexible - we needed to change the day we were coming the week of due to some schedule changes and were able to do it easily.

The unexpected highlight of our Acadia trip (and we did many incredible things.) An experience like this is everything I hoped for when I downloaded the Hipcamp app. I can’t believe I’m saying this but it was better than Acadia. Gary’s property is paradise and he is an excellent host, personable and helpful and all around extremely interesting person. Bonfire chats were peaceful and illuminating. We witnessed the most spectacular sunset and sunrise (ask Gary where to go) and saw a starscape that is beyond anything this city dweller could have imagined, the Milky Way was so clear! SOME ADVICE: this is the perfect adventure if you’re willing to put in some extra effort as opposed to regular car camping. It’s well worth it! Get to the ferry dock early to situate and organize yourself, and get to the island early so you can explore. Read all the instructions, they’re very clear but you gotta read them. Give yourself time. We spent the day there after camping and I’d go back to spend much more time there on the island. The locals were so friendly! My kids were able to truly be kids, spending hours at the beaches and exploring. I could write a book about our experience, I can’t say enough good things. If this feels like it may be the right fit for your outdoorsy personify then you won’t regret going. Thank you so much Gary. We will be back.

My partner and I had a nice time staying at Gary’s campsite number #2. The location is nice and quiet. We loved walking over to the cafe and museum, and especially Preble Cove for a (chilly) swim (the stones were warm though). The general store was great for a breakfast sandwich and treat. We happened to be on the island during their summer festival which was a definite highlight. Fyi the museum’s upstairs + the library were good spots to charge phones if needed (the library hallway remains open outside of opening hours). Thanks for a glimpse into island life!

Cabin Creek Farm was the perfect mix of a secluded oasis and a convenient step away from all the island has to offer. Gary was the most gracious and hospitable host we could have dreamed of. He made our stay more than memorable with his wonderful suggestions, willingness to help with anything and his patience and adoration of our pup. We explored the island top to bottom and enjoyed the slow pace, lack of cell service and the ability to bike anywhere we wanted to go. We were at camp 4 (meadow). This was pretty much across from the fire pit which worked great for us as we frequently cook camp meals over the fire and the kiddos love the s’mores. However, if you’re seeking more privacy and killer views definitely ocean 1 and 2 would be the best. A couple tips as we barely made the last ferry, reservations and tickets to GCI are made online and best to reserve ahead of time. The general store closes at 4 and isn’t open Sunday’s so be sure to plan ahead. Inner island ferry travel is free once you’re out there so you can travel and explore the others if you like. 10/10 the adventure was worth every bit of the work it took to get there and stay there for several days!

We kayaked out to Great Cranberry with a group and stayed at Gary's farm for a rest and renewal retreat. We had a fantastic time! The overall vibe was very laid-back and relaxed, perfect for our retreat. Gary was a great host, and was very accommodating as we got our big group packed up and ready to go.

You can tell how hard Gary works to make the site a nice place! The bonfire pit and community "shared space" was lovely! Even the out house was very well maintained and clean with amenities like toilet paper and hand sanitizer provided. This site would be excellent for large groups, retreats or anyone wanting to socialize with other adventurers. Gary was so welcoming and truly ensured we had everything we could need to have a great experience. While the island itself offered little "to do" it was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of life and served as a perfect space to relax and be present.

The magic of Cranberry Island!

A group of friends and I got to visit Great Cranberry Island and stay at Cabin Creek Farm for the 4th of July for two nights. We rolled up with quite a bit of stuff, and Gary graciously jumped in to help haul our things to the site with golf carts/his truck! We felt welcomed in right away, he gave us pointers on some of the island's highlights as we ventured to the farm. The farm is definitely walkable, but with a few bags, the golf card, or a bike is easier / much appreciated. We loved hearing about Garys background and history on the island! There were some mosquito's around the camp sites, so Gary started a bonfire in the communal fire pit. We had booked sites 3-5, which were nice proximity to the fire and the shared covered cooking/table area. We paddle boarded right from the property in "the pool" and saw some beautiful sunsets from Preble Beach. On the 4th of July we were invited to the community's party with a band & drinks for all, followed by an impressive firework show from the locals lobster boat. The market is right off the ferry and was really convenient to grab extra water, ice cream, drinks, ect. Our crew loved our time there and we can't wait to visit again!

The land was exceptional, the history was amazing and the company was grand! I cannot say enough about how fun this camp was. Not to mention that you are walking distance from some of the prettiest beaches near Acadia. Gary made us never want to leave. We will absolutely be back to see him and the island he showed to us.

Gary’s generosity is endless! We arrived with WAY too much stuff and ran into Gary at the ferry. He immediately helped us schlep our stuff and was incredibly kind and friendly our whole stay. We wish we had more energy to hang out! Could have spent a long time chatting with Gary and learning from him. A very community oriented individual who loves this special island. We look forward to coming back next year!!

We had an incredible time at Gary’s camp! We walked from the ferry to the site (only about 3/4 of a mile) with our things in a wagon that we brought. We took the golf cart on our way back - which was great! The island is an incredible and absolutely beautiful place, and Gary’s was a fantastic host. He had everything set up for us, including a large bonfire to share with other campers and a shared greenhouse space to cook and eat. If you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet retreat, I’d highly recommend.

Would absolutely recommend camping on Gary’s land! Gary was an awesome host, having generations of family dating back to the area. We had a great bondfire, time exploring the island, and kayaking around in the bay. Cranberry Island is such a little gem, away from fuss of Acadia. The locals are extremely welcoming and friendly, and there are great places to eat nearby on both Great and Little Cranberry. The campsites themselves seemed nice and protected from the elements

Gary's land is beautiful and he is incredibly welcoming. Everyone ate together under the lit community pavillion and fireflies were all around. Kayaking basically steps away was a DREAM (go at 7pm during the summer, trust me.) Cranberry Island itself is also adorable and stunning. The ferry trips were a highlight! We were super glad we booked. The only warning is there is no water available at the site, only at the general store by the dock when you arrive. Check the store hours and come prepared!

Such a beautiful campsite! There was a pit toilet and a covered group gathering where you can eat/ hang out with other campers. We camped in the late spring so there were very few people we saw on the island and the only ones at the site. Very quiet and a great atmosphere to relax. The golf cart was so helpful to get to and from the dock! We took the paid ferry and everyone was very welcoming and helpful to make sure we got off on the right island. Highly recommend!

Had the most perfect two nights here! The golf cart was so helpful and instructions were very clear. So nice to have access to water at the community center. Even on the winter schedule no problems with the ferry— very timely. Gary’s suggestions were great— got engaged on the beach he recommended! Loved our view from site #1, very quiet and serene. We will most definitely be back.
