Beautiful off grid cabin perched on a hillside above an old tobacco farm. Incredibly quiet, peaceful location close to many trails & half-way between Berea and Irvine. This cabin is off grid and has no running water or internet connectivity. There's an outhouse with RV toilet and you may have cell phone service but you'll be better off if you expect you won't. There are solar lights and a fan, plus moderate power available when the sun's been out. Not much traffic but the darn owls can be loud. The space The cabin is a one room space with two twin beds, a table with two chairs and a deck with a beautiful view. There are multiple solar or battery powered lights as well as a solar fan for hot nights. Guest access Guests can explore the farm and property. I have dogs and will plan to keep them contained when guests are at the cabin. Other neighborhood dogs come say hello periodically - if you bring dogs, please be prepared for the potential for other dogs to visit. There are chickens, ducks, geese and a pot-belly pig on the farm. They're primarily in a fenced area but if your dog may be aggressive towards these types of animals, please keep your dog contained. Other things to note Driveway: it's steep! And is washed out at times due to erosion from heavy rain. I do not recommend attempting to drive up with only 2WD or if you're worried about your suspension. If you're concerned about making it to the top, I'm happy to assist so please check in with me.
Water: spring water will be provided for drinking, brushing teeth, etc. There's a water catchment system which stores water for the RV toilet and any other needs you may have for non-potable water. Pour water into the RV toilet using the supplied bucket to flush. The hand pumps for the water catchment system need to be primed prior to use, just pour some water into the top of the pump and begin pumping slowly until water comes out.
Cooking: there's a fire pit with an adjustable grate as well as a propane grill. I'd recommend bringing a cooler as well for cold storage of any food or beverages. Firewood and propane will be provided.
Heating: There's a propane space heater available in the cooler months. It will keep the cabin comfortable even in very cold weather. Please keep windows shut if the heater is turned on.
