EVERY TIME YOU VISIT, YOU HELP CREATE SOMETHING LIFE CHANGING
Previously a campground, our family purchased this land in order to create a program for disabled adults to have education, work and social opportunities. Our offerings will include weddings, site prep, cleaning, cooking, livestock care and all services that it takes to keep the facilities open and profitable.
DAY PROGRAM
We are located in a rural setting a few blocks from the city of Falmouth and convenient to larger surrounding cities. Utilizing much of what is already at the property, we will be incorporating several revenue generating opportunities as outlined on the map above. Each area will be developed with unique, repetitive tasks that can be learned and performed to mastery under supervision.
Aside from initial registration fees, donations to Laurel Bend coupled with the services provided by volunteers, employees and program participants will cover the costs of the program. Program participants will go to their “job” daily, learn skills and be part of community events. Families will be able to use funds traditionally applied to adult day care or other programs for other needs.
What would they be doing?
We hope to have several opportunities. Those interested in animals can take turns helping care for chickens, cleaning coops, learning and performing flock health, collecting and packaging eggs for sale, caring for goats, including shearing them, socializing baby goats, cleaning and spinning wool and making wool crafts. Baking, cooking and serving those goods for events and general sales. There are also ample opportunities for groundskeeping, housekeeping, retail sales, craft making and more.
A short drive away at Miller’s Harvest, a 5-acre farm in Williamstown, we converted a 7,000 sqft warehouse for microgreens and are raising a breeding colony of Tilapia. Once microgreens are producing and sold at full capacity, we will begin adding aquaponics greenhouses, which will supply Laurel Bend’s produce and provide additional training and work opportunities for program participants.
Thank you for participating in such a grand vision. Every penny from every booking truly goes towards making a lasting impact on many, many families.
Learn more about this land:
This former campground was purchased by our family in order to create a work program for disabled adults like our daughter. We are using HipCamp for private camping to fund renovations of the old church building, dorms and other facilities to hopefully leave a legacy of help and hope for special adults and their families.
For now, this property is a diamond in the rough still needing a lot of TLC. Expect primitive camping and little improvements every time you return!
The property is a peaceful 27 acres at the bend of Licking River. The grounds themselves have several clear areas surrounded by trees. There are many picnic areas, a few small shelters with picnic tables and two gazebos with seating in the clearing at the back of the property. Over the (dry) river through the woods is a clearing with community fire pit and primitive seating. There is also a small play ground area, small basketball court and a few tetherball poles.
Across the street, there is a public boat ramp access and beautiful Kincaid Lake is just minutes away, with boat access, daily boat rentals, fishing and other amenities there.
Current Renovations:
September 2020, we are removing the bunkhouse ceilings and insulation, cleaning out a lot of animal debris. We are starting bathroom demo.

Family Camping on the River Bend
Very Peaceful
My girlfriend and I stayed here and were quite surprised with the property. Being close to the river and a in-woods trail and fire pit, it was quite the relaxing weekend.
