The Property: This van is nestled on a 15-acre property, positioned at the back of a 5-acre open field next to a serene creek. Bordering Jefferson Memorial Forest, this area is surrounded by beautiful trees, yet still within city limits. The field is shared with three other private campsites, each featuring a fire pit. A communal portable restroom is available for all four sites. Experience the local wildlife, including deer, turkey, cardinals, and eagles. This is the perfect retreat to escape the urban hustle, experience van life, and enjoy off-grid living. Ideal for vlogging and photography, this unique space offers a refreshing change of pace while still being conveniently located in the city. Guest Access: You will have exclusive access to the van, which includes a comfortable bed, a gas stove, and a battery-operated sink with 5 gallons of water. There's also a pop-up canopy, an outdoor table, and two chairs for your use. There is NO shower. The van is equipped with solar power, providing lights, a small refrigerator, and outlets. Please note that the van is stationary and not movable. Guests are requested not to access any mechanical parts of the van. Guests are also responsible for any damages that may occur to the solar system, the van (mechanically or cosmetically), and the property. With solar power, there is the potential for no power at times, so please plan accordingly by packing flashlights and a cooler. If you have any questions or issues with the solar system please reach out before troubleshooting. This isn't just a reservation; it's an opportunity to experience a continuous transformation. Though we are nestled in a secluded, natural setting, the van is still within the city limits. Expect occasional city sounds, and note that there is a train track bordering the property. Despite being in the city, the area has a rural feel, with locals sometimes target practicing, using farm equipment, and a variety of bugs and wild animals present on the land. As an evolving space, our van and the surrounding area are part of an ongoing project. This process is integral to the charm and authenticity of your experience here. Landscaping and other enhancements are continuously being refined, so you might notice some elements in various stages of development or slight deviations from the images. Other Things to Note: -You must open all windows and doors when cooking inside the van. -In order to light the stove you must use a lighter, located in the kitchen drawer. Press down and hold while turning the desired burner knob. Light with the lighter and continue to hold down the knob for 20 seconds. This allows for proper gas flow. If it turns off, repeat until it stays lit. -Keeping all the window covers on helps keep the van cooler inside. -The main light switch is the dimmable turn knob located to the left of the side doors when you enter. Press to turn lights off and on. -There are two remotes on the kitchen counter- one for the ceiling fan and one for the four hanging lights. -You will need to turn on the refrigerator upon arrival. There is a power button on the top left of the refrigerator door. -In order to use AC power you will need to turn on the inverter. The ON/OFF switch is located on the side of the kitchen counter between the bed and the sink. This will power the surge protecter mounted above the sink. -The sink faucet is powered by pressing the power button on top of the faucet. The power button continuously will run water while the 600ml button will only pump out 600ml and then turn off to help conserve water. -If you run out of water you will have to refill the tank yourself. -Please be aware of the gray water tank under the sink. You will need to empty it as needed. -There is a step stool located under the bed to help get in and out of the van and the bed. -There is a cushion under the bed to extend the bed. Locate the two gold handles on the front of the bed frame. Pull all the way out, place the cushion on top and now you have a partial queen size length.

Secluded Creekside: Willow

This is a great place to get away and relax. It was easy to find and access, all the sites were clean and had recently been mowed. I was staying here so I could hike in the area and this is close to both the Jefferson Memorial Forest and Bernheim Forest. I hope to come back and explore more of the hiking and wildlife the surrounding area has to offer.

Camp Escape lived up to its name! A fantastic property teeming with nature, yet still right within reach of the city. Shelby is very kind, helpful, and made us feel right at home. Our campsite was just the right size, a personal haven, providing the peace and quiet we were craving.The provided firepit and level land made setting up a breeze - even during a massive downpour! It was exactly the what we needed. If you're looking for a quiet and safe camp experience without roaming too far from Louisville, look no further! We definitely recommend Camp Escape!

Good site near the creek. One porta potty provided for all the campsites. The site is right next to train tracks. Site was mowed recently and we had a fire pit. $8 wood available. "Secluded" campsite phrasing was an overstatement.

Last minute travel to Louisville to catch a concert, decided to camp instead of getting a hotel. Only 17 minutes away from our show. Super relaxed place to stay, even had firewood. Easy in and out + gate provided security.

This is a great spot outside of the city! I stayed here two nights with my two cats and we felt safe and comfortable. There is a train that goes by and is pretty loud in the night and during the day. It didn't bother me much but just something to know. I am so happy I found this spot and if I go through KY again, I will be staying here again! Porta potty was super clean and close by. Other than the train, this spot is quiet and so peaceful with the sound and sight of beautiful birds. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking to camp near Louisville!

Shelby’s space was really nice, not too far from the city, and conveniently close to Jefferson memorial. The sites are a little closer together than I thought, but they were not all full so we still had plenty of privacy. The creek behind the campsite was perfect for our dogs. I was under the impression that there were trails to explore from the campsite, there were not. Scott’s gap loop was a great trail about a mile drive away that we did the following morning. They had firewood on site for $8 a bucket! The property itself was gorgeous, amazing sunset. It was a little noisy with the train and neighbors, but not too bad. It was super nice to only drive 30 minutes to an awesome campsite.

This tucked away camper was perfect for our roadtrip. We had a fantastic stay at Off Grid Van Life in Louisville! There was plenty of room, both in the van, and on the property, it felt private and peaceful, despite its proximity to the train tracks. The bathroom was clean and everything was super convenient and simple. We loved waking up to lots of bird activity in the morning and enjoyed the nearby stream. We hiked at Scott’s Gap just a few minutes away, which was a great bonus. 5/5 would definitely visit again!

I loved this area so much! It was easy to hook, Shelby's instructions for directions and checkin was smooth and easy for my fiance and I who decided on a random camping night. Quiet and plenty of space in the camping area. We will definitely be back!

This was our second year camping at this location & we always enjoy it. Beautiful area! It is just a short drive from KEC. The train can be noisy if it’s something you’re not used to, but overall we love camping here! The owners are extremely kind & wonderful people!

The black walnut campsite was spacious, flat, and easy to access. The site is fairly secluded although there are houses, roads, and RR tracks nearby. Kind of a bummer they don’t have any on-site water.

The hosts did an excellent job of prepping the site. The grass was mowed, fire pit was clean, and even the porta-pot was very clean. The site was large and had very tall grass (6ft) separating it from other sites to give plenty of privacy. The only drawback is the noise. Trains and low-flying commercial airplanes woke us up multiple times in our two-night stay. Regardless, we still enjoyed our weekend getaway and may return.

We had at great stay on Shelby’s property 🤍. To be so close to the city and still have such privacy is amazing. Beautiful greenery, secluded spots, and overall cozy vibes. Shelby was super helpful, responsive, and flexible with me. We even ended up staying an additional night at our Sycamore spot!! If you’re thinking about it go for it.

Great spot! Just as described - a secluded camp in the city. This means you’ll hear trains and cars, but there’s enough foliage and trees to separate that from camp. Loved the creek right behind the site, that was my puppies favorite part!
