The inspiration for this retreat blossomed during a memorable road trip along California’s iconic Highway 1, where we envisioned a space that captures the essence of freedom found on the open road while providing the warmth of a curated experience. Upon returning to our home in Kentucky, we dedicated ourselves to bringing this vision to life. With each shovel of dirt and every sunset witnessed, Base Camp @ The Red emerged, featuring hand-built campsites, peaceful riverside mornings, and nights filled with starlit skies. Our campground is designed to ensure every traveler feels welcome, offering a range of outdoor activities, nearby swimming holes, and access to local restaurants and shops.
