Climb to the top of a rustic train boxcar and take in the beautiful Kansas country sky. Our peaceful property is a perfect escape while still being only 10 minutes from gas, grocery, and restaurants in Rose Hill. Derby Walmart Supercenter is 20 minutes away, and Wichita proper is just a 25-30 minute drive. 29 Mile away you have El Dorado State Park which is a showstopper of family fun! Located in the Flint Hills, this park has an immense wildlife area, over 8,000 acres of water, and 98 miles of shoreline (think beaches and coolers filled with cold beer). While you are here, you can take your boat on this expansive lake to explore it all while you fish for your dinner. Back on the land you’ll be beckoned by picturesque hiking trails, biking trails, and horse trails. There is a wide variety of campsites on the shoreline, offering the perfect vista to see the moon and stars reflected back into the lake. Kansas magic at its best! Meet our friendly indoor/outdoor cats, and maybe even spot a deer in the surrounding fields as you relax around the fire pit. Visitors in June can even harvest fresh mulberries from several trees surrounding the camping area. We commonly see deer, squirrels, rabbits, and a large variety of birds. We've occasionally spotted bald eagles in our surrounding trees. No pets allowed. Set up a tent in any of several flat areas in our grassy, regularly mowed backyard and relax by the fire pit to the sounds of a country evening. If you're feeling adventurous, climb to the top of the historic boxcar, bounce on the trampoline, or use our (kid-sized) zipline. We live in the main house toward the front of the property where you will park, and while we will be available if you need anything we love to let our guests enjoy the peaceful country air without any interruptions. Bring your own firewood, or contact us ahead of time to have some bundles ready for an extra fee.

If you're feeling adventurous, climb to the top of the historic boxcar, bounce on the trampoline, or use our (kid-sized) zipline. It was so quiet and relaxing on Teresa‘s property. Teresa was incredibly attentive to weather issues that might impact our stay, and she offered options to make us more comfortable. We were able to purchase firewood from her, which was convenient. Our son befriended one of the cats, which made the stay all the more fun.!

A real nice and quiet place. Only so once in a while a car passes on the dirt road that gives access to the campground. In the evening you hear the crickets and you see the lights of the fire flies. In the morning you see the turkey vulgers fly over the fields. Teresa is a wonderful host. She tries to make it all as comfortable as possible. There is water, you can make a camp fire. What else do you need for having a good relaxing quiet time while camping.

Teresa was amazing! She was super informative and clear when we showed up. The place was quiet and peaceful, exactly what we were looking for to get away from our highway trip. Hopefully yall get to experience the boxcar too!

Great Little Spot Outside of Town

We had a great time tent camping at this nice little quiet spot just outside of town. The host was very friendly and accommodating. My dad and I rode our bicycles from Wichita as a way to relax and to start training for longer adventures later in the year.

Quiet camping in the country

Teresa's place was a beautiful, quiet area out in the country but not too far from town and easy to find. The area is to the back of Teresa's property with just a short walk from parking. It is a great place to get away from the city and relax and enjoy nature. The boxcar was really fun to climb up on and gave great views. I enjoyed the friendly cats and even got to see some deer! Made a camp fire and really enjoyed the quiet evening. Had a great stay and definitely recommend Teresa's property. Will visit again!
