Sweet little set up. We went in the off-season and brought our own small porta potty and it worked out great. The host had a lot of firewood available and were very communicative.

Solo camped while driving back out to the east coast, rained all night and site didn’t flood. Very safe and great place to stay for a night.

Such a great site, and the riding is fantastic no matter what direction you head from camp. Amy is a great host, communicating quickly. The onsite facilities are perfect, and I'm anxious to come back this spring.
If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend ear plugs, but I wear them at most every camp site. The cows have a lot to say!

Awesome location, right off the trail. Amy was very helpful and in constant contact around our reservation. I wish there were more campsites like this on other bike trails.

I loved hammock camping here — the area was quiet, easily navigable, and the stars were super visible. Lots of trees spaces hammock-distance apart.

Nothing fancy, but everything a bike packer or motorcycle camper might need. Be sure to bring food or dine before you arrive, there are no stores or restaurants anywhere nearby.

I enjoyed my stay at Amy's land; everything worked according to plan. I liked that the land is in the country and removed from the hustle and bustle of the City.
I will highly recommend this 'base camp' to my family, friends and other cyclists!

BFH is a great space. Quiet, clean, well cared for. Right off the trail, no hunting around for it. Would recommend to all travelers on the Flint Hills Nature Trail. Will definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful little camping site right on the Flint Hills Nature Trial. We use the tent camping area. had access to a covered slab with picnic tables, I very nice porta potty, and (cold water) showers, one in an enclosure with a bench and one in the open. The floor was composite, clean and easy on the feet. The tent area was soft grass and clover under several shade trees with a couple of fire pits available where you can bring your own or reserve wood kept at the site. For $10 a night and $5 for firewood you just can't beat this as a camp site especially for trial hikers or cyclist.

Beautifully situated along the Flint Hills Trail, the Basecamp was easy and restful. Cold water shower and very clean porta potty. Perfect for a one night stop. RV site 1 has a streetlight adjacent so pick #2 if you’re looking for darker night. Fire pits are spacious and include a cooking grate. Pads relatively level and adjacent but not cramped. Good rural dog walking paths!

What a peaceful few nights we spend at Basecamp Flint Hills. Highly recommend visiting the Flint Hills Visitor Center and doing the gorgeous 2 mi hike of Kaw Native Land in Council Grove (?). Beautiful Harvest Moon during our stay… will definitely go back!

Easy to find, nice place. Some noise from town but things were quiet after 9. I heard an owl and coyotes! Right on the Flint Hills trail.

I bikepacked to Basecamp Flint Hills this weekend for pack-palooza. I stayed one night in the sleepshack and the second night tent camping with a large group of bikers. I hade a long ride to Allen, KS so the sleepshsck was nice not having to set up a tent. The shack was like a cabin with bunkbeds, ac, and electric hookups. The next night I tent camped and had a wonderful night sleep. Didn't wake up til 8am. Amy and her husband put on a wonderful weekend for us, really needed that getaway from my job. I'm looking forward to going back next year.

Base Camp Flint Hills is an oasis on the trail for cyclists. Located right on the Flint Hills Nature Trail, the camp area is 54 miles from eastern Ottawa trail head and about 50 miles from the western Herington trail headmaking it a nice day ride for beginners or intermediate riders alike. The property is clean and well kept. Shower is refreshing, though not heated and toilet is a porta-john that was in immaculate condition and clean. There was plenty of firewood for purchase and a nice mix of camping options from several camper spaces, two RV spaces, a group camping area, and a tent / hammock area with shared fire pit / picinic table. The surrounding area is peacefull and the flint hills sky will not disapoint on a starry night.

It was a great lil space! The cabin as very clean. Location is great. It was an easy walk to the meat locker to get drinks and the community center for lunch after a day of riding on the trail.

A very convenient base camp for touring the beautiful Flint Hills. Regardless if you’re biking, hiking or automobile touring, Basecamp Flint Hills is a great place to camp. A common theme in conversations with our fellow campers was the cleanliness of the portapoti. We had a good time there and I’m sure you will too.

Basecamp was even more than I expected! It was so peaceful and shaded with wonderful breezes and no mosquitoes!! Clean ports potties and all the water we needed! A N D the trail was right by the campsite! Fabulous place!! Go there!

Easy to make a reservation. Shower was very nice, even if the water was cold. There were 3 portapotties and there was myself and another camper. It seemed like the ground was a little low and might be prone to pool water in the rainy season. It is right off of the Flint Hills Trail.

My husband and I stayed in the Sleep Shack which was great for the two of us. Since we were there the middle of the week we had the campgrounds all to ourselves. We loved it!
