Camping, (Fishinfg at 2 of our sights) Enjoying a campfire and sometimes even petting Pedro the donkey! Learn more about this land: Nestled into the center of historic and scenic Van Buren County (where there are more Whitetail Deer than people)  You are a 5 minute drive away from The Des Moines River which is great for kayaking, boating and fishing.  You’re also 5 minutes away from Lacey State Park, which has a 30 acre lake. Lacey Lake also has a sandy beach area and over 13 miles of trails to hike on.  If you like to go fishing and boating, Lake Sugema, a 579 acre lake, is a 10 minute drive from this campsite.  If you’re into horseback riding, you’ll be camping 19 miles from where you can rent a horse and ride on 25 miles of trails in Shimek State Forest, just east of Farmington, Iowa.

Site 2 (Eastwoods) is a 100 yard long site nestled beside a small creek. There is a fire pit and a picnic table. It does not have an outhouse yet so you will need to “pack it out”. It’s a beautiful site, with plenty of shade and space!

Lakeside

Lakeside Tent ⛺️ Site overlooks a beautiful lake, with timber south and east of the lake. You’ll have 2 acres all to yourselves! The only amenities are a picnic table and a fire pit. There is no outhouse at this site yet so you’ll need to “pack it out” and leave no trace.

Me and my wife really enjoyed our stay at whitetail tent camping. It was a cool setup right next to a beautiful pond and nice and secluded from everything.

Charles was an awesome host! Helped load up my gear! Gave me some fishing recommendations. Great spot! Super quiet. Great pond to fish in and some pretty cool albino channel cats! Very great experience! Will definitely be coming back!

This was a delightful, peaceful location and Charles went out of his way to ensure that I arrived safely. My stay coincided with a big wind storm and he not only offered a more sheltered site, but to help pitch the tent if needed. The site was nestled right beside a pond and the gentle lapping of water sent me off to sleep in no time. Up early on the morning, I watched the stars until the sun rise. This was my first stay here, and I am sure it won't be the last.

Beautifully private camping area. My eldest daughter and her boyfriend wanted to fall camp. This was a great place to take them. It was great for stargazing, super quiet except the occasional donkey breying, and we'll kept area to camp.

First Hipcamp experience and it was wonderful. The host made us feel so at home the whole time, he assisted us getting our gear to the location and the location was absolutely beautiful. We for sure will be back!

Whitetail Tent Camping
We had so much fun here and would highly recommend it to others! Site feels perfectly private but the host makes sure you know that they’re there if you need anything. Has a fun, up close farm atmosphere but still feels clean and like it’s your own while you’re there. The pond was so filled with fish that our kids were catching every cast, which made them fall in love with fishing even more. Was ::just close enough:: to town, the best bait & tackle shop we’ve visited in a while (Troublesome Creek Outfitters), state parks, tons of activities, parks and restaurants. Host makes you feel right at home but offers privacy and space, too.

Beautiful setting in a secluded country area. I really enjoyed the privacy provided. Location is very peaceful. Good fishing!

Very nice camping spot with good fishing . Spot was well maintained and shaded . Caught several nice fish , one catfish over 14 pounds ! Host was very thoughtfull and friendly , helped us get all our stuff to the spot . Would definitely recommend and will be going back !

It was such a beautiful spot really secluded and cozy! Nice clean outhouse to use. Nice campfire pit and picnic table. The host was very welcoming and friendly and took us out to the spot to help us get settled in. The spot was right next to the pond that was stocked with fish. At night you could see all the stars and lightning bugs and hear the frogs. I definitely will be coming back again soon!
