This property encompasses 15 acres featuring a mile of mowed trails that weave through wildflower prairies, along a meandering creek, peaceful woods along the river, and a 501(c)(3) animal rescue providing sanctuary to goats, a llama, a miniature cow, an ostrich and more! The perfect place to unwind, unplug, and connect with nature in a private setting, not on a gravel pad at a treeless, overcrowded campground.

Site is located in the timber along the Boone River You will arrive at a 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary. New for returning guests, you can now drive to the site! You are able to drive through a couple of somewhat bumpy fields, and then park within a couple hundred feet of your campsite destination! *Site is accessible to wheelchair users, and is frequently accessed by a wheelchair user. However, please reach out to hosts to discuss accessibility prior to booking. 🥾 We have a (*seasonal) mile of mowed trails that follow a creek through natural grass and wildflower prairies and woods along the Boone River. 🐐 If you want out of the woods during your stay, feel free to enjoy watching our animals (goats, cows, pigs, a llama, a miniature cow, and more!) Many of our residents live with health challenges, so sit back and be amazed by the resilience of animals while being truly inspired watching a blind cow navigate her surroundings, or dogs and baby goats conquering the world from a wheelchair! 🏊 Swim in the river.  🥏 Play disk golf on our 3 hole disk golf course. 🏕 Relax in the timber.  🦌 Watch the wildlife. Teepee is complete with a hardwood floor, so you won't be sleeping in the dirt, and even has its own clay chiminea! Absolutely private camping, well except for an odd owl that wants to pay you a visit. The camping sights surround a farm animal refuge that has an inspiring cadre of disabled animals that have a home because the host turned this land from a vehicle junkyard into what it is today. The Host very proud of his animals and ready to share them and their stories!

Tyler’s property is not only beautiful, but he also has an incredible program helping animals in need!! We LOVED staying right by the river and getting to meet all of the rescue animals!!! We bonded with Yeti the pug instantly! Thank you, Tyler, we’re so grateful we got to meet you and see your rescue!

Love Tyler’s place! So many cute animals and Tyler was nice enough to introduce us to them all and show us around. The campsite was just as advertised, very secluded and close to the river which made it a very nice and cozy area. Would definitely recommend!!

The camping spot was beautiful and perfect for putting our kayaks into the river. We saw plenty of wildlife in addition to the friendly animals on the ranch. Tyler and Haley were awesome hosts as well. The experience was everything we hoped and more. I'd absolutely return... 100% recommend it to friends!

Awesome private campsite, right next to the river! Clear line of communication with Tyler the whole time. Next time I'll bring a wagon to haul my gear out there, but definitely worth it! My dog loved all the space to run and all the swimming he got to do!

Tyler and Sarah were so nice, meeting us the moment we arrived. We were given the option of a few sites and essentially, anywhere really. The space we set up camp at was like a shire tucked away not far from the main yard and bathroom. But somehow felt totally secluded. Our music didn't even cut through the trees. The dogs got to run their butts off, we soaked up the gurgling creek and hooting owls. We will definitely be back. My personal highlight- The cows. Next time I need to meet and pet the pig!

This was a great place to stay. Tyler greeted us upon arrival and showed us around pointing out several options for setting up our tent. We were disappointed that it rained the next day so we had to leave without the chance to explore the trail and meet the animals. We’ll have to go there again.

Great lil find! The house is secluded so no busy roads or highway lights. Tyler was friendly and accommodating with my late arrival. The animals were the sweetest and the cows just stared at me haha! They've got a cat who followed me on my morning walk - super cute! Would recommend to anyone!

We had a great stay at Lazy J's! It was very peaceful and nice to be close to so many different animals. Our kids and dogs loved spending time here and being out in nature. We will definitely be back again sometime!

Tyler was an excellent host. He greeted us upon arrival, gave us the layout of the land. The campsite by the river front was amazing. It’s about 97% shaded with a fire pit right by the river. It’s a great place to unwind and recharge. He even makes his own maple syrup from trees on his land, which is fantastic. And, if you happen to be in the mood to feed some of his animals he’s s rescued, you can purchase some food to give to his critters. We will definitely be going back out to unwind at the riverfront sight again.

Tyler was a great host, very friendly and helpful. The site by the river was everything we wanted and hoped for. With only the sounds of nature around, we had total privacy. Tyler had a nice trail mowed through the tall grass which was a great relaxing walk. Would highly recommend this spot and will probably be back. Plus he has really cool cows :)

Tyler and Hayley were such kind and gracious hosts. We felt very welcome, including our two rambunctious boys and our large dog. It was amazing to see the animals, play sports in the lawn, walk the trails and just relax. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed staying at Lazy J. They were very friendly and personable, but also good about giving you your space. It was nice talking with Tyler and Hailey regarding how they got started, and learning about the animals individual stories and interacting with them. They even let my kids help with chores, which I really appreciated!

Animal Rescue Camping!
Tyler's land was great! It was a fabulous time. We had a TT and hooked up next to his barn. The fire pit was a short walk through a trail and landing right next to a creek. My kids had an absolute blast petting and feeding treats to all the animals. He was very attentive and generous. His mission to rescue those unloved animals is truly amazing. Definitely a place to visit!

Lazy J Rescue Ranch is wonderful!! It's small, remote, and best of all the hosts are incredible people. They were as kind to me as they are to their rescued animals. I basically sleep in my car and they gave me a nice little area near the walking trails they made on the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at the farm. I highly recommend buying animal treats to feed the local 4 legged residents and their farm fresh eggs were delicious! Quiet and cozy stopover.

So appreciative of the animal rescue farm HipCamp site! Woke up to a couple of huge pigs across the way, rooster crowing, and numerous other curious animals that wanted to meet me and Redz, my puppy. They were both so kind and greeted us when we got there. The land was beautiful and there was lots of wild life scurrying around at night which felt like real camping. The trails are very nicely taken care of and I could easily walk them even with an injured ankle. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem!!

We had a great time camping here! Tyler and his wife greeted us as soon as we got there and we were able to meet all of their animals as well. Everything is very well set up for a good camping experience.
