The Poweshiek County Fair is a unique celebration of local agriculture and community spirit, with a rich history dating back to its inception in 1854. The fairgrounds, established in 1986, serve as a vibrant hub for various events and activities that bring together residents and visitors alike. The Poweshiek County Agricultural Association, founded in 1941, was rebranded as the fair association in 1991. This dedicated organization is managed by a nine-member board that oversees the daily operations of the fairgrounds and coordinates the annual Poweshiek County Fair. For those interested in becoming part of this thriving community, association membership is available for just $5 per person for individuals aged 18 and older. Membership dues must be submitted to the fair office or postmarked by 4:30 PM on the last Friday of August each year to ensure participation in the upcoming events.
