Lochloosa River Retreat – Family Fun, River Adventures and Relaxing Stays on the Tippecanoe! Welcome to Lochloosa River Retreat—your home away from home along the beautiful Tippecanoe River! Nestled on 6 peaceful acres, our hobby farm offers primitive tent camping, dry RV sites, a River View RV lodging site (RV included) and a cozy cabin stay in the Zen Shed—perfect for families, paddlers, and nature lovers looking to unwind. At full capacity, we can host up to 60 people and also offer group hosting. Paddle, float, and explore! We offer kayak and tubing trips on a scenic stretch of the river—message us to get on the float schedule. Guest enjoy playing in the shallow creek that winds through the property, as well as relaxing at camp, listening to the sounds of running water and a fire, or playing and cooling off in our saltwater pool complete with a slide and diving board. Wildlife is abundant, so bring your binoculars for birdwatching or cast a line from the riverbank. Want more comfort? Book a stay in the Zen Shed, our rustic riverside cabin or the River View RV for the ultimate glamping comfort—both perfect for a peaceful, unplugged getaway with real beds and front-row views of nature. Located near Lake Maxinkuckee and the charming town of Culver, there’s plenty to explore just a short drive away. There are also a few nature preserves nearby as well as a new Bark Park! Pitch your tent in our Lullaby Creek Cove site, nestled in a cove along the bank of the creek and complete with sounds of the babbling brook. This is one of our favorite sites! Creek cove will accommodate 2 small or one large tent. Site includes a fire pit and is just a short walk to the restrooms and showers. This site does have a soft glow upon a portion of the site from dusk to dawn, cast from a light that sits at the top of our lane. If you want complete darkness at night, please book a different site such as This River View or Fireflies Way in our woods camp along the river. Thank you!

Fireflies Way is a perfect tent or hammock site nestled in the trees on a high riverbank in our woods camp with a beautiful view of the Tippecanoe River. This site is our most private site and an awesome spot to enjoy sunsets over the river in Spring! Fireflies Way is a walk-in site. We provide utility wagons for you to load in your gear and it’s a short 1-2 minute easy stroll down a designated trail through our woods camp. Fireflies Way is approximately 30 x 15’ and should accommodate up to 2-3 tents and up to 6 guests. Perfect for hammock camping! Amenities include hot water shower house and restroom and inground saltwater pool with slide and diving board open Memorial through Labor Day. We offer river tube and kayak trips during your campout as well. Please contact us asap to book your float trip so we can get you on the schedule as we have limited availability. Our Creekside site sits on the high bank of the creek that runs through the property and to the river. This is a well shaded site that has the soothing sounds of running water alongside it and offers beautiful sunset views. All campers have access to all amenities such as a saltwater swimming pool Memorial through Labor Day, creek and river access as well as indoor restrooms with hot water showers. Bring your group of minimum 10 guests and up to 60 guests for a group camping experience on the beautiful Tippecanoe river on 6 partially wooded acres with nearly 700 ft of river frontage. Primitive tent camp along the north side of the creek amongst the trees with plenty of open area for camping and activities in our field area for up to 40 guests. Our woods camp on the south end will also accommodate up to 20 guests with beautiful River Views. All sites include a shared access to the beautiful Tippecanoe River, indoor restroom and shower house as well as use of the in-ground saltwater pool complete with slide open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Hot tub is reserved for adults 18+ only. Site placement and acceptance of booking requests dependent on group size. Great Camping Getaway
River View RV & Float Trips
My fiancée and I loved our weekend getaway at Nichole’s site. She was very welcoming & gave us a tour of the camp site. The area was very clean & was a perfect spot for us to disconnect from the city life. She even offered the river tubing ride which we also HIGHLY recommend. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Nicole was also very quick on her responses and helped us with the questions we had. We will definitely visit again & we recommend this stay 👍🏼💚🌳

We had the best family camping weekend at Lochloosa. We kayaked, fished, stargazed, swam, and had an incredible weekend. Nicole is the best host. Highly recommend for a Zen, unplugged outing in nature.

The property was a pleasant surprise for being in a rural area. It was nice to have options of river access for kayaking or a salt water pool to reside in. It was clean. If you’re a tent camper your areas appeared nicely spaced out. If you have an RV you will be at the entrance just off the road (which was rarely traveled). Wide open places if you were to have a group you would have the front all to yourselves. Kayaking on the river was fun. It was a nice couple of days.

One of the best Hipcamp experiences so far! Spacious camp spot with stunning views at the river. Feels really secluded, in the same time you are steps away from the facilities and swimming pool. Also, I didn’t have any issues with bugs and mosquitoes despite being among trees close to the river.

We loved our stay and didn’t want to leave! We stayed here for a weekend for a girls trip and did a float on Saturday. We stayed on the Firefly campsite and it was a perfect campsite for us, it was private and had a view of the river. The pool was amazing and so clean. Nicole was so kind and helpful with any questions we had before and during our stay. We will definitely be back!

We had the perfect spot right next to the creek and river—tenting there was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. All the amenities were clean and well-maintained throughout our stay. Nicole and Jack were super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. We would absolutely love to come back!

Nicole’s land was definitely a time to remember! They were very accommodating to me and my family. The pool was always cleaned everyday and bathrooms/showers were the best and also clean! Will definitely be back again!

One of my favorite places to stay! During this trip, I enjoyed kayaking. Nicole and her husband were very helpful. The kayaking experience was beautiful and relaxing. Lochloosa River Retreat Group Camp
This camp is absolutely amazing. We visited it on the 4th of July and we really enjoyed everything. The communication was very clear and prompt, the hosts are so friendly. All the territory is so functional, beautiful and clean. The swimming pool is really great with a slide, the water was warm. The river view is beautiful. My husband even caught a fish there on our last day in the morning. Our group enjoyed this camping so much, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

Nicole and her husband were super nice and helpful! Gave us a tour of the property, the fishing dock and the pool were really nice. The bathroom/shower was a plus also. Culver was super close that had great lake views and coffee! Would definitely stay again.

We loved our weekend camping trip at Lochloosa River Retreat! The entire experience was seamless from beginning to end. We stayed at the River View camp site and weren’t disappointed. Perfect view of the Tippecanoe River from atop a high hillside with a nice camp area that was mostly private. The weather was hot but we enjoyed the beautiful pool and hot tub which made it much more pleasant. We booked a kayak trip for the late morning and were driven to the starting point by both Nicole and her husband Jack. She gave us clear instructions about what to look for and approximately how long our trip would take. A recent storm may have caused some fallen trees that might have blocked our trip but luckily we had no issues. The wildlife was abundant and the serene landscape was just what we needed. We bought some firewood for our nightly campfires and enjoyed fresh eggs for breakfast cooked over an open fire. The goats and chickens were a treat for this former farm kid. If I had to make any suggestions it would be for a portable toilet near the wooded sites as it’s a bit of walk to the restrooms and showers, but otherwise everything was great! We hope to return again and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Thanks Nicole and Jack for being wonderful hosts!

We had a beautiful weekend. Nicole was a great host. The farm fresh eggs were delicious. The float on the river was peaceful and the closest I've ever been to a bald eagle. The nearby Ruth Kern nature preserve offered a quick hike with luscious greenery.

Went tent camping here and loved it. Beautiful view of the river and saw an Osprey diving and getting fish. We saw, and heard, lots of birds. Hosts are lovely people that made us feel at home. Even their goat, Linus, was a complete delight.

Creekside Zen Shed with River View
My brothers visited for Friday the 13th and could not have had a better experience! Not only were Nikki and her husband so kind to greet us late in the evening, but they also brought us hot chocolate to keep us warm. The lake, ambient cabin, and full moon made the night perfect for DnD - will be returning during the warm months!

We had a riverside campground on a small rise with the most amazing view. Lots of wildlife, we saw deer at the river and wild turkeys went through our campground. Hosts were very accommodating and that nice balance of helpful and friendly without seeming to intrude. It was fall and their pool was closed for the season, we will definitely be back sometime when that is open. Fully plumbed bathrooms with showers, huge extra for such a secluded site. They offered wood which we ordered in advance. In the future we might also order some eggs. And if the weather is warmer maybe rent a kayak, they have a few there onsite for rental.

Great camping views next the Tippecanoe River. Excellent amenities (shower house and indoor plumbing) and inexpensive firewood. Nicole & Jack were super friendly and made sure we were settled in. Look forward to returning.

My family and I really enjoyed tent camping on this site. The view of the river was gorgeous, and the site was secluded, while still a manageable walking distance from the bathrooms and pool. Nicole and Jack were very helpful and welcoming. My kids loved the pool, and we also enjoyed hiking around the property. We will definitely be back!

We had an adventurous journey to arrive (vehicle trouble) so we arrived later than anticipated. Nicole and Jack had a fire going for us in our spot, and were wonderful from the beginning! They were around, present, and happy to help all weekend. There were board games we could borrow, some pool toys in the pool, and the eggs were so delicious! The spot was perfect for us - there was a light glow so it wasn’t pitch black, but it was plenty dark enough to sleep. The sound of the creek was magical, also! We all enjoyed our weekend there.

We had a wonderful time here and plan on coming back. Nicki and Jack were wonderful hosts, we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Our camp site was private, well thought out and spacious with a beautiful view of the river. Don’t hesitate to book with them, you will not be disappointed.
