Lots of room for our camper right next to a creek. Saw a great horned owl my first day there. Very peaceful near multiple state parks and forests. Also near the college if wanting to visit.

Was visiting Bloomington for Father's weekend and needed a site that was convenient. While it was close to town it also felt like you well into the country. Butch is a very nice gentleman and super accommodating. This will definitely be my place to camp anytime I'm visiting the area!

The spot we stayed at was by a little creek and that was great! Butch was so friendly and helpful. Mccormick’s Creek State park is nearby and we spent the day hiking. Lovely trip!

This was my first ever camping trip and I really had a good time with my family. Butch is very welcoming and kind he showed us around the place and made us feel at home. 10/10 definitely recommend. You’ll fall in love with the bar area! We will be taking another trip very soon!!

Amazing and welcoming host. Best nook that I have found to truly give me trees away from the beaten path. Had a great time in such a peaceful and comfortable environment. The set up for comfort was great!

What a cool place to stay! Only a few minutes out of town but feels like you’re far away from it all. Butch was great and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed before leaving us to ourselves for the night. We are already taking about when we will be back.

I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet little set up that Butch had at Laurita's Casa Vieja. There as a great little seating area with a sink and frig. Lights and a fire circle. There was also a toilet and shower facility all there under cover. I was simply passing through with a quick over night stay. I would highly recommend Creekside Camping.

This place is a gem. Beautiful land, a nice outdoor kitchen, and a wonderful host. It's close to everything that Bloomington has to offer. The wifi was strong and the spot was easy to find. If I am in Bloomington again, I am staying here.

Butch was great! Very communicative and accommodating. The tent was placed wonderfully. Lots of shade from the walnut trees. There were times where the noise from traffic was a bit much, but the nights were quiet! Thanks, Butch!

Great sit and Butch was an awesome host. Plenty of deer to enjoy watching around the grounds with excellent access into town and the highway. I absolutely recommend Camping by the Creek!

Peaceful farm minutes from Bloomington.. Butch was a great host and bent over backwards to accomodate us. He even cut a hole in the side of his garage so that we could hook up our 220 line. Thanks Butch!

The space is beautiful and private, and the hosts are helpful, personable, and attentive. There is a shelter with a full size fridge, so I didn't need to worry about keeping my cooler iced up. I will definitely be staying here again!

I was coming in to town to do the Bloomington Handmade Market in downtown Bloomington and didn’t want to stay in a hotel when I knew I could camp for more than half the price. I took a chance on Butch’s listing, and I’m so glad I did! He was so welcoming and cheerful, and the property is gorgeous, and at night was full of fireflies and two owls calling to each other! And this is basically their backyard and only 15 mins from downtown Bloomington, which is an awesome town! While their house is in sight, it still felt like I was camping in a more remote area, in a good way. As a woman alone, I felt very safe at this property, and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!! Thank you Butch and family!

Such a lovely and peaceful retreat! Camped here for a night after hiking McCormicks Creek. Plenty of room to spread out and even an outdoor toilet, which is a luxury for those that frequently off grid camp. I set up my hammock between two well placed trees and made a fire in the pit that evening. Butch is a kind and gracious host. I will absolutely stay again when I’m in the area. This was a perfect getaway.

The property is quite literally a beautiful country retreat. Very quiet and private. Undulating terrain. Rustic farm buildings. I really liked it. Very close (15 minutes) to campus and restaurants. I was in town to move my child home from IU, and calling was a wonderful alternative to the expensive hotels.
Butch is a great host. Extremely thoughtful and responsive. Was very concerned about my experience and eager to help.
He is a retired sea captain, so I wish i had more time to get some stories of the high seas!

Butch is open and helpful to everyone staying with him. The site is open, with basic amenities, but he’ll help with whatever you need. An overflow crowd for the eclipse was accommodated, and everyone had a good time. Very close to Bloomington and IU.

This was a wondering location to observe the 2024 eclipse. There was a creek running through the property which was great for fossil hunting with my daughter. The owners were very friendly and had firewood available as well as a small pit toilet if needed.

I camped here with my three kids and dog for the solar eclipse. We had to bump our arrival date back due to illness, but Butch was flexible, gracious, and a great communicator. We set up our tent in a beautiful flat spot near the creek. My kids loved playing in the water and searching for fossils and geodes, and my dog loved the freedom of being off leash. I loved the birdsong and owl calls and serenity of the farm. We ended up using liberal amounts of deet because there were a lot of ticks (maybe this is limited to the field we camped in, since it seems like maybe it’s mowed for hay some of the time), so I recommend coming prepared for that possibility. If you want to camp down by the creek, I also recommend AWD of 4WD! We had quite the time getting our minivan out on the slick morning dew/mud. Butch saved us by sawing back some branches and rallying other campers to come push our vehicle up the trickiest stretch. We left with a lot of gratitude for the kindness of strangers and the beauty of nature. Such a memorable and wonderful camping trip!

We loved camping on their land both he and his wife were over the top into the hospitality aspect of our Escaping the noise of life!
A bit rustic, but it was awesome! Hell, it’s camping! We loved it!
There’s a little little charging station with the refrigerator that’s available for all campers. A composting toilet. Lots of firewood. Our whole crew would give it a thumbs up!
