- Voted best Hipcamp in Indiana for 7 years. - Listed on Rachael Ray Magazine's "8 of America's Coolest Campgrounds" We offer a "Camping Cabin", The "Cozy Camping Cottage" or tent camping in Black Walnut Grove, in an open field, in the woods, or a shady grove. We like to interact with people or you can keep to yourself and have a quiet getaway in the woods. Sorry, but the tree house isn't available to rent since it is my home. I may rent it out in the future. Also in progress is the "Dome" We are on a solar powered, off the grid 30 acre homestead that has 24 acres of wooded land and 6 acres of groomed land. Come explore our land and relax in the "Tree Web", see the 2 story tree house that I live in, have fun on the tire swing, or just sit and enjoy all that nature has to offer. You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end). We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people. We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Also be aware that we have 2 friendly dogs on the land that roam freely. - 3.5 miles to Marengo Cave - 7 miles to the Blue River (canoes, rafting and swimming) - 30 minutes to Patoka Lake - 37 miles west of Louisville - 13 miles north of Interstate 64

Skip the tent setup!. Just pull in and you'll be ready for camping in our micro cottage. No tent needed! We have built a small building just for sleeping in. It's 4 foot tall, 4 foot wide and 8 feet long. It has windows and doors so you can just pull in and be setup in a matter of seconds. It's off the ground has plenty of windows and a big door with a screen so you can stay cool and dry in any weather. It's in a prime location that is close to the outhouse, shower house and Tree Web and has it's own small yard in front of it with a fire pit. 2 people can fit in the Cozy Camping Cottage but if you want to have more people they can camp next to your site. You can add them here or book through the Black Walnut Grove listing. It is the same either way you do it. The Cozy Camping Cottage requires you bring your own bedding (There is a mattress with a waterproof cover on it). Anything full sized or bigger will [xxxxxxxx] are people too - Please include all people when booking your site. We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people.

Camping Cabin

Treehouse · Sleeps 30 · 1 bed
Camp in a cabin at Happy Hollow Homestead. The Camping Cabin sleeps 2 in the queen sized bed, but has plenty of room for campers outside the cabin. You can add additional campers or they can book tent camping separately. It is 15' x 15' foot spray foam insulated cabin with a queen sized bed, a couch and a heater for the winter months (or fan for summer months). It's close to a shower and outhouse. There is a fire pit behind the Camping Cabin an will soon have a view of the new pond (when it fills up) The Camping Cabin has limited electrical due to being off-grid. Lights, phone charging and fan are okay. Sorry, no pets allowed in the camping cabin.

Hidden A-frame in the woods

A-frame · Sleeps 100 · 1 bedroom · 1 bed · 1 toilet
The A-frame is our newest addition. I'm still working on it a bit, but wanted to get it listed. The A-frame is our most secluded camping spot that you can drive to. Tucked away at the edge of the property but still not too far from everything else. It has a queen sized 6" foam mattress and is close to an outhouse and shower and near the new pond which is in the process of filling up.

  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Kerry's campsite is a welcoming and peaceful escape for those who enjoy the outdoors. Many reviewers appreciated Kerry's hospitality and the site's natural beauty, making it a popular choice for families and groups. The site offers unique features like a tree net and scenic trails, though some visitors noted that certain amenities could benefit from updates and the environment can be a bit challenging for those with mobility issues. Overall, it's a spot that seems to leave a lasting, positive impression on most campers.

  • Nakiya H.

Tent camped at Black Walnut Grove at Happy Hollow with friends, Sept 2026.

    It was okay

The host was amazing. He was kind, friendly, helpful, responsive, and very accommodating. That being said, the site was very different from what I expected based on the listing. The shower was a good ways away from the camp site (and hard to locate), the out house close to the campsite i couldn't even use because the door wouldnt fully open and there were always huge spiders on the door. The climbing net thing was hard to locate and also completely covered in everything nature has. Don't get me wrong, the camp site is nice. I would recommend it, however id say it is more of a primitive site. I feel this is important to say, because for my group this was extremely difficult to navigate and we would have booked somewhere else had we really understood what the site was like (we all have mobility issues, one in a wheelchair) and I want to make sure someone in a similar situation doesnt make the same mistake But if you are someone who can handle a lot of walking and more primitive style camping this site is amazing. The cabin also seems really nice. We had tents, but I found the cabin while looking for the showers and its cute and seems cozy. Keri is an amazing host and deserves all the support

While we couldn't make it due to travel issues and leaving late on our road trip, Kerry was awesome in communication and accommodating. We hope to swing by some day and check out this awesome establishment.
