Celtic Glen is a working, 100 acre family farm of heritage breed livestock, nestled in an old limestone quarry on the banks of the White River, on one side, and Fall Creek, on another. Lots of space between campsites and are often all to yourself. Learn about regenerative farming with rare breeds on a farm tour, or mining and wetlands restoration on an ecological history tour. Pet and feed the livestock. Fish and bird-watch. Take a yoga class (at times with goats or bunnies) in the center of the stone henge. Have coffee with goats. Eat farm craft meats, eggs, prepared soups, casseroles, and baked goods, or hop into town for a bite.We are across the river from McCormick's Creek State Park (Indiana's first state park with miles of trails, a swimming pool, and lodge) and just two miles north of Spencer, a small town with an excellent brew pub, winery, cafe, and more. Just 12 miles north of the farm is Cataract Falls State Recreation Area. We are only 20 minutes from Bloomington and Indiana University; 45 minutes from Indianapolis Int'l Airport. This is a working farm with lots of livestock, electric fences, and working dogs, so please leave the farm animals alone unless someone from the farm is available and present. Dogs must be on a leash in the camping area. given the above features of a working livestock farm, the quarry ruins, the operative railroad tracks, and the river (not suitable for swimming), family friendly (children under the age of 18 must be attended by adults at all times). *We have lots of on-farm food and supplies options, please contact us for a complete list and any requests. All sites have a private stone fire circle as well as access to a common grill, handwashing station, porta potty or septic outhouse, cold/solar water shower. *We have posted many events on our farm facebook page @celticglenllc and we are within 2-4 miles of lots of options. *Please note that the riverfront wetlands will be closed to guests during deer rifle hunting season for safety.

This wooded site is at the end of the upper trail around the big quarry edge and overlooks the train tracks and the wetlands. This is a lovely, tranquil spot and the most private we have to offer. Private fire ring. Drive in to unload and load then park at street entrance. Due to the drop overlook, this site is not suitable for children under 18 yrs.

Nook In The Upper Quarry

This site is tucked away in a nook in the smaller limestone quarry and so the closest to the communal fire pit and grill. The ground is quite firm! Enter through gate then turn left after the mini-cabin and the campsites are just down the way a bit to the left hand side. Drive in to unload and load then park at street entrance. Flushing porta potties are evironmentally-efficient in that they flush with recirculated waste water (filtering out solids), which actually minimizes unpleasant odors; happily, the potty has a seat lid to protect campers from splattering. Users also should pre-wet the bowl (in anticipation of a b.m.) to keep the bowl as clean as possible for all campers. Campers should refrain from stuffing trash down the bowl (there is a trash container next to the toilet). The rescue pups next door at the humane society can be heard barking sometimes at night if they are roused; if you are alight sleeper, you may wish to bring earplugs.

This site is near the entrance and parking area and the most convenient for any kind of vehicle-based camping. The private fire ring is tucked back from the lane. Flushing porta potties are evironmentally-efficient in that they flush with recirculated waste water (filtering out solids), which actually minimizes unpleasant odors; happily, the potty has a seat lid to protect campers from splattering. Users also should pre-wet the bowl (in anticipation of a b.m.) to keep the bowl as clean as possible for all campers. Campers should refrain from stuffing trash (including wipes & feminine products) down the bowl (there is a trash container next to the toilet). It is possible that you might hear the rescue pups at the humane society next door if they are roused at night; light sleepers may want to bring earplugs just in case.

This site is at the edge of the smaller limestone quarry and so quite close to the communal fire pit and grill. The ground is quite firm so plan according or reserve a cot. This spot is the closest to our humane society shelter next door so sometimes there is audible barking and you may want to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper or choose one of our campsites further to the west.

10x12 log cabin, bistro table and chairs, solid-surface cot platforms for 2 cot width or 1 queen. You can add tents for sleeping space. Private fire ring. Drive in to unload and load then park at entrance if other campers are on site. The porta potty, handwashing station, and shower tent are quite near this site. Add-ons include thick camping pads, cooking stove, kitchen kit, in addition to foods and activties. Flushing porta potties are evironmentally-efficient in that they flush with recirculated waste water (filtering out solids), which actually minimizes unpleasant odors; happily, the potty has a seat lid to protect campers from splattering. Users also should pre-wet the bowl (in anticipation of a b.m.) to keep the bowl as clean as possible for all campers. Campers should refrain from stuffing trash down the bowl (there is a trash container next to the toilet). It is possible you may hear the rescue pups at the humane society next door if they are roused at night; light sleepers may wish to bring earplugs. The cabin is conveniently across a lane from the washing facilities so on a holiday weekend, there is foot-traffic from other campsites (we do offer more secluded sites) as well as passing autos as campers load and unload. More often than no, though campers have the entire site all to themselves.

The Perfect Peaceful Getaway

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a short-notice camping trip, and we’re so glad we chose this farm. We booked the upper vista site and it was peaceful, secluded, and beautifully tucked away.. exactly what we were hoping for. Even though we arrived later than planned, Phil and Lessie were incredibly nice, welcoming, and understanding. The next morning we woke up to the sound of Highland cows and a few donkeys, which was both funny and surprisingly relaxing. We enjoyed breakfast and coffee by the fire while taking it all in. We were greeted by the owners’ sweet, friendly dogs, and later got to tour the farm. It was so much fun seeing the goats, Highland cows, donkeys, and especially watching their cattle dog proudly show off his herding skills. Lessie shared so much interesting information about the farm and the history behind the animals, you can tell she truly loves what she does. Overall our stay was amazing, peaceful, and refreshing. We’ve already planned to come back, and next time we’re bringing our kids and family. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a unique farm experience!

Low stress place to camp. Nice fire ring! Bathroom basic, but very, very clean! Dogs nearby were quiet at night and not bothersome generally.

We had a fabulous time! The campsite was nice and secluded. My wife appreciated the flushing outhouse. What is really special is the farm, so make sure to have some coffee with goats and do a farm tour if you have the time!

Lessie and Phil are awesome! They made sure to check in to see if we needed anything. The property was beautiful and fun to explore. The farm tour and time with goats was well worth it for all ages. We will be back!

Such a wonderful find for those who enjoy tent camping! The whole environment was wonderful! It felt primitive but we still had access to a Porta potty, hand washing station, and water. Pro tip: buy some of the baked goods offered! Lessie is a wonderful baker. (Just an fyi: You do hear animals during the night - dogs from the humane society and cows, etc. from the farm. It didn't bother us, but if you need quiet to sleep soundly, bring ear plugs)

We stayed at one of the henge sites and we loved it. I love the add on options, food was great. The henge sites would be great for a family reunion or a large group. They’re separate enough to have your own space but they’re all next to each other. Railroad tracks were fun to walk on for my train loving kid. Porto potty is around the corner. It is near the driveway so you can hear cars come and go but it was minimal.

We really enjoyed camping with our teardrop in a secluded site. Hosts were very responsive, friendly and we loved the fresh eggs. Great location - we recommend going to the Bloomington farmers market on Sat mornings, McCormick state park and the brewpub (Civilian Brewing) in nearby Spencer IN.

Overall, our family enjoyed our weekend at the upper vista. Be careful to avoid the gravel road to the right after entering the property. Our vehicle became stuck and Phil towed us out. I'm grateful for his sense of calm and humor about it. The property is next to a humane shelter. One of the two nights the dogs were barking loudly for many hours making it difficult to sleep. The port a potty was unusual as it had a flushing option. Since it needed serviced, sewage spewed into the toilet with each flush and when the flapper opened it created a back splash. I would have preferred a standard port a potty or pit toilet. Phil provided a generous quantity of firewood. The rocky ground prevented traditional tent staking but we improvised with rocks from the property. The land itself was a beautiful and private forest with a short drive to McCormick's Creek State Park. I would recommend it to folks visiting McCormick's Creek who want an alternative to state park camping.

We had a wonderful time at this site. The site was well cared for and the owners were very responsive. Highly recommended. The Upper Vista site was great. The soil is kinda rocky, so be a little patient trying to stake your tent. Having a mallet definitely helped. We will definitely be back!

Lessie and Phil are great hosts that communicate very well. The quarry entrance site was just right for our 48' rig, but an experienced driver is a must for parking and turning around with such a large rig. We enjoyed golden hour views over the stone henge and campfires in their stone fire rings. We recommend Cataract Falls to the north and McCormick's Creek State Park's water fall and lodge dining to the south. Out east part way to Bloomington is Phat Daddy's BBQ and Jiffy Treat's homemade ice cream right next door. All very affordable. Be sure to checkout Spencer with its train tracks running right beside the courthouse. An hour south is a fun underground boat ride at Blue Spring Caverns Park. Be sure to stop by Better Than Mama's Bakery stand between Speser and Elletsville for delicious self serve sourdough goodies.

Beautiful area and lovely semi-rugged site with flat soft area for a tent, lots of birds, and kind host(ess). There were trees enough at the Upper Overlook for a hammock or two and the campground was interesting for walking around because of the farm, quarry, railroad (no trains passed by during our stay), and river.

Due to an unfortunate county wide travel restriction due to flooding, we were not able to experience the campsite, but communication with Lessie was fantastic and we look forward to eventually getting our tents setup by the quarry!

A heartfelt thank you to the host/hostess for an amazing experience. We so enjoyed your Shepherd's pie and the warm soda bread. The breakfast casserole hit the spot. Coffee with goats was immersive and extraordinary! Phil was so kind and patient with my silly questions. He also made stellar coffee! The campsite was perfect. Port O Potty was conveniently located and had a hand-washing station. Fancy! Close to Cataract Falls, McCormick Creek and Spencer. We will be back.

If you're looking for an off grid spot to reconnect with nature and get in touch with your roots, this is the place! Byo heat and entertainment, lol, but a fun little cabin and surprisingly close to everything!
