Serenity Fields Farm

What a great place for families! We stayed at the creek-side camp and loved the privacy. It was perfect with our 5 and 7 year old as they were able to head to the playground alone with walkie talkies. For younger kids, the site closer to the playground may be a better fit. Julie was kind and helpful with every question we had! The property is also close to town, should you need anything at all - like we did!

Overall it was good. However, I recommend choosing the sites further from bathroom/playground and here’s why ⬇️ Pros: -I loved being greeted by the mama dog and her 4 pups and 3 kittens -All the other pets that were able to be petted were nice too -great price -can fit LARGE groups -Loved the “playground” set up. Mixture of things to do,including zip lines, trampoline, and more obstacle type things plus 3 hammocks to relax in as well, it was peaceful and didn’t hear “I’m bored” once! -lots of space to run around and let the kids explore -can buy bundles of wood if needed -has a bathroom, which for a first time tent camper, it was great option Cons- -while we loved the animals hanging out with us, the cats have no manners (typical farm cats) but WILL eat your food if left out and jump on table while you’re eating -traffic……close to road (again the site closest to bathroom) -while having the bathroom was nice, it wasn’t stocked besides toilet paper- the paper towels had two sheets when we got there and no soap was filled so thankfully we brought our own. -hornets nest in bathroom, thankfully they were lazy ones -the first night dogs were kenneled at night, second night mama wasn’t and barked and barked. And when sleeping in tent it made me feel like something was around, when went to check, nada. She barked multiple times between midnight and 6am on and off.

Unique Site

For central Illinois this place was amazing! The site itself was unique and secluded with a cool zip line within it. All the animals on the farm were fun to check out and interact with. Most of all Julie and her family were wonderful and thoughtful people to interact with.

Little peice of heaven in a farm..

Literally had such a great time tent camping on Julie's Farm! From the spaced out nature of every site, the zip lines all over, and the activities for the children to do! To the responsiveness of Julie and her family 💖 We had our space but we also could nearly always find someone to ask questions or just chat 💖 The herbs and vegetables and flowers and variety of animals 💖 Julie also allowed us to have an impromptu birthday party for my daughter and she enjoyed the farm so much, she cried as we were leaving. Best private camping we've found so far! 👏👏 thanks again Julie and Serenity Farms

Julie and her family were very welcoming! Our family, including our 8 year old son, loved our stay at the farm. From a zip line at our site, to kittens to play with and even a horse ride, we had a great day and night. Highly recommended!

Beautiful site to camp at! It was really the weekend I went, but was able to get through it. It was so nice to be able to camp with the animals. Such a unique experience and I am so grateful that Julie can provide this experience.

Our family loved tent camping on Julie's land. The land was beautiful and the feel was private even though you were close to the home. The directions were easy to follow. The pets were super friendly (especially Daisy)! For our first time using hipcamp it was a great experience.

Amazing property with plenty to explore for the kids and animals to pet and love on. They even have a flushing toilet and hot and cold water available so you're not truly off-grid.

Took my boys camping for their first time here. We all had a very good time. We really enjoyed the doggies that hung out with us, one of them slept with my Autistic son all night he was so excited about it. We plan to be back

This was my first experience camping and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The property is beautiful and homie! The animals are friendly and love a good scratch. Overall it was a very peaceful and pleasant stay. Definitely recommend! The host is also very helpful, she let us purchase fire wood and left it at our site since we were getting in pretty late.

AMAZING. A bit of a haul to get to- get there before the sun sets- FAMILY FRIENDLY- a zoological farm of many kid friendly animals. Great laid back host. Worth the drive.

Although the site was mostly serene, there is a bit of road noise. Not the hosts fault about that. But the bathroom should be cleaned more regularly. Nice and overflowing trash

My main reason for choosing this Hipcamp was to stay by the animals and enjoy the atmosphere. I did love the wide open sky for stargazing and sunset/sunrise, and a big black cat jumped into my van and didn’t want to leave, which was sweet. When I went out to say hi to the animals in the morning (I arrived at sunset so couldn’t see them) I was really saddened and it really wrecked my stay. The chickens were in a tiny coop but the horses…covered in mats and burs and caked on filth. And one of them had a hideous 4-5 inch long wound on her face where the flesh was pulled away from the face and hanging. Bone was exposed. It was dried up and not fresh or treated. When I messaged the host she said she didn’t know that a horse was injured. I described the injury but in the 1.5 hours before I left nobody came out to check on it. I still feel sick about how bad the animals looked. They offer horseback riding…but the horses and other animals clearly haven’t been looked over, brushed, etc in quite some time. I left feeling sad and still can’t shake it.

What an awesome little site! Julie is outstanding - super communicative and accommodating! The sunsets were beautiful from our spot, and the whole area is so peaceful. Despite our spot being the most tucked away, the bathroom was not far at all. The horseback riding was a blast as well. Definitely a great stay for those who enjoy farm life!

I absolutely loved my time out at Serenity Farms! Julie made me feel incredibly welcomed, and the animals were all lovely and extremely gentle. Julie’s two dogs are fantastic! One of them didn’t leave my side. She was even leaning up against my tent when I was going to bed. It was comforting having her around. I had forgotten my bug spray, but I definitely didn’t need it. I didn’t see a single mosquito! I will most definitely be returning in the future!

I dont think the place is horrendous but it's not beauty in all directions. My site was next to a horse trailer with manure underneath. The large tree covered with poison ivy. The "playhouse" structure is not on level foundation and the area is over grown with weeds. The dogs and cats were friendly but they aren't well groomed or clean so we spent a lot of time chasing them away from our food. They never stopped begging. Were directions easy? Yes. Was owner responsive? Yes. Would I go back? Nope. Too many other places.

A quiet and serene farm

Overall we had a very nice experience at Serenity Fields Farm. We when first arrived we were unsure of where to park our 34' travel trailer for site 3. But after calling the owner we were able to talk through the situation and find a suitable location. The challenge initially is that site 3 is not very level but we found something that ultimately worked. Once we settled in we ended up having the best time there. The property is very quiet and serene. I must say that we had some of the best sleep we've had in years. We really enjoyed visiting the animals on the farm and saying hello to the horses. The location of the farm is perfect as it's far enough from the hustle and bustle but close enough to places of interest. We visited both Arthur about 25 minutes away to experience the Amish culture and also Arcola which is a very quaint town. My only suggestion for the property would be to have actual signs and markings for each of the sites and a clear path around to the back. It would have also been nice to get a welcome packet with suggested things to do. We also wish the animals would have been accessible but can understand that perhaps that is not feasible. Overall we recommend Serenity Fields Farm.
