Mown paths for walking through prairie and grasslands. Jane Adams bike path 5 minute ride away for many hours of biking., Bikes available free for use.  Canoe and Kayaks for rent to put in the Pecatonica or Sugar Rivers. Shared barn kitchen with propane cooking surface, cooking utensils and pans, toaster, cooking oil, and myriad cooking ingredients. Two fire circles for building fires. Firewood bundles and fresh eggs available for sale. Boats available to rent if you'd like to paddle a river, wood sauna can be fired up for a fee.

What a Great Place!

Site 3 - Pachamanka Prairie + Woodlands
What an incredible spot! Beautiful woods, fields, and creeks. It’s a three minute ride the Jane Addams rail trail. At night I heard barred owls and Sandhill cranes. It was a very quiet spot. Nance was a wonderful host who knows her land and the area very well. I hope I have the opportunity to stay here again!

I enjoyed camping under pine trees at Nance’s land. You will get a great host, a community full equipped barn-style kitchen, vintage bikes to explore the area.

My dog and I had a great time. It was very peaceful. We needed the rest. Nance was a great hostess!! We would go back again.

Pachamanka Prairie + Woodlands
Nance had options for private/semi private sites, which was great. We chose the site near her garden which felt like a little cozy spot. The land is beautiful to explore, so many birds! We walked the trails, took bike rides to the butterfly farm and walked about. Sites are rustic, to minimize impact on the land. We appreciated the community kitchen, hammocks to relax in and overlook the prairie.

Had a great stay here! Nance was a great host and the land was really beautiful! What made it work so well for me is the fact that it's about 1/4 mile away from the Jane Addams trail.

A Rustic Gem

Pachamanka Prairie + Woodlands
Pachamanka Prairie & Woodlands is a treasure in historic Stevenson County just a stones throw from the Butterfly Farm and Jane Addams Trail. I camped during the fall when the colors peaked and the wildlife was bustling preparing for winter. The land and the host are fantastic. Be respectful and reconnect with nature just a two hour drive from Chicago.
