In 2016 we decided to bite the bullet, sell our city home, and move out into the country to fulfill our dream of owning a bit of property! We lucked into a charming country home on a calming 2.5 acres. We are surrounded by 80 foot cottonwoods, with deer bounding through the neighborhood, owls frequently hooting and pheasants calling for a mate. This home is a dream come true for us. In the course of this lifestyle change, we stumbled upon the idea that we could own alpacas, one of the softest animals in the world, and our numbers are growing with crias (baby alpacas) due each year! Join us for some peaceful tranquility at Windbreak Farm Alpacas, where if the wild winds of Idaho are blowing, you can still enjoy the outdoors! Pull your camper into the quiet serene grounds of Windbreak Farm Alpacas, our camp site is shaded from the afternoon heat by 80’ cottonwoods, and the alpacas, and especially dogs will Love to Welcome you to our little piece of paradise! While you’re here discover the surrounding area's vast options for outdoor play, all within a 5-60 minute drive. We have water available to fill tanks and power is available in “Extras” for $10 per night. We also have room for 1 more small camper up to 4 vehicles in the same party. If you would like to book the second camper, message me and I can open up a second site for the same party. Please check in before 8:30pm.

Loved tent camping at the alpaca farm and got the sweetest welcome from the cutest dogs. So cool to see the alpacas and learn more about them. Janece was a great host, very responsive and welcomed us when we got there. Such a cool experience and a great location.

What a lovely and convenient set up. The alcapa tour was such a fun bonus! The site is essentially the front yard of the house and right off the road but with our van parked at the front of the site we felt like we had our own pocket of land.

A stopover with Alpacas!
Janece is so welcoming and her space is a great stopover point. We loved chatting with her and the farm tour has been a highlight of our trip! Directions to her home were helpful and porta potty was clean. I would not hesitate to stay here again if passing through.

Janece was a very nice host. She told us all about their 16 alpacas and we got to feed and pet them. So soft and fuzzy!

Peaceful night!
Our stay at Janece's farm was terrific! She is a warm and wonderful hostess. It was so nice to have an option for power! So worth $10! She is on a busy street but the traffic was completely quiet at night. I would highly recommend!!

Fun hipcamp with friendly animals!
The is a lovely little patch of grass to camp on for the night. It is on the owner's front lawn, with a nice picnic table and very clean porta-potty. The host was extremely friendly and we loved her dogs and alpacas! We learned a lot about alpacas from her which was really interesting and fun for us and our kids. Her dog Rocky is the cutest and friendliest dog we have ever met! Only downside to this place is that it is on a very loud, busy road (strange because it is just a 2-lane residential street but cars go by very fast on it). Overall it is a great option though and fun for kids.

Friendly dogs will welcome you!
Finding the location was easy based on the GPS coordinates in Google maps. Janece is a delight and her little farm is a wonderful experience. The alpacas make quiet neighbors so we slept very well. The dogs are super friendly. The road is busy during the day but most travel stopped after 10 so no problem there. There is a very clean porta-potty for tent campers like us. The alpaca tour is worth the extra money so bring cash for that or book ahead; I don't think Janece takes cards on site. Alpacas aren't terribly friendly but you can feed them and then pet them when they are distracted. They are the softest thing you've ever touched! The rooster was quiet until 6 a.m. so that was a blessing. We really enjoyed our stay. Janece is a very accommodating host but doesn't hover. The picnic table under the trees is a great spot for meals or just hanging out.

1 night at the Alpaca farm.
We loved this site. The campsite itself feels a bit like camping in someone's front yard but any unease about that disssipated quickly. The hosts, were absolutely wonderful. Letting us and the kids feed the Alpacas, play with the dogs, jump on the trampoline and just overall making us feel extremely welcome. It was a great experience. Our only regret was only being able to stay for one night and not more.

This hipcamp was just what we were looking for. It is close enough to HWY 20 to make it a convenient stop along our long drive but far enough away from the highway so that it felt peaceful and was quiet.

My friends and I had an AMAZING time at this campsite. We loved everything about our stay, from the beautiful property full of cute animals to the surrounding town full of fun things to do. Janece had a wealth of information about the alpacas and great recommendations for how to spend our time in Idaho. It's definitely worth the extra money to go on the alpaca tour (how many times in your life can you have an alpaca eat out of your hand??) We are so thankful to Janece for being an incredible host and hope to be back soon.

Beautiful Small Campsite
Janece and her farm is absolutely lovely! We arrived pretty late at night, but she was very kind and helped us find her place. In the morning, we were lucky to go and see the alpacas, and Janece was accomodating and kind with any concern we may have had. It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend!

This was such a fun place to stay! We stopped here during our trip to the Grand Tetons, which was about a 3 hour drive. There is lots of room for setting up a tent (or multiple) and there was a portapotty on site. We loved seeing the alpacas, who were right near the camping spot, and we were greeted in the morning by the friendliest farm dogs! It was great to feed the alpacas and learn all about them. Definitely recommend this campsite!

GREAT RV SITE AND ALPACA TOUR
This RV campsite is located in a ranch / country home setting and is a very nice and fun place to camp with kids. It is in the front yard in grass and you can schedule a tour of the Alpaca’s that Janice is raising. Again the site was great, the grankids are still talking about it and Janice is an excellent host.

This was a special gift to my wife who loves alpacas. We didn't know what to expect but it was wonderful. Getting to pet the alpaca's while we learned about them. Was one of the highlights of our trip. Would recommend it to everyone

We were very comfortable at the Windbreak Valentine Campsite and we had everything that we needed, including getting to see a baby Alpaca that was born the day we arrived. The campsite is right on the road and vehicles travel very fast- so I am glad that we did not have dogs or young children on this trip as that would have been nerve wracking. Janece made sure that we had fire wood and eggs and was very sweet to us during our short stay. If you are looking for something camping like, you might be disappointed as it is in a rural residential area and at the front of the property with traffic noise - but for a quick overnight on the way to other adventures it was fine. Another bonus is that it is just a few minutes from the center of town- so we were able to go to dinner at a local BBQ restaurant that was quite good. Saved us from setting up a full camp kitchen after a long day of driving. We made a delicious breakfast with farm fresh eggs in the morning and headed out. Thank you Janece for your hospitality.

The alpaca farm, not a campsite.
Not quite the expected 'camp site' as it's really just their small-ish front yard right in front of the road. Texted host and never got a reply prior to arrival. Once we arrived, we weren't happy to see the following: a port-o-potty for your toilet need and a tiny picnic table with a gallon water jug on top for your usage. Nevertheless, we did not stay. We ended up at an RV park with full hookups 10 minutes away instead. This should be renamed to just Alpaca Farm.

it’s a great place to stop on a road trip. janece was very kind and said hi but otherwise let me do my thing. I stayed in their yard and you can see the alpacas in the back. there are cars driving by but it didn’t bother me. they provide a table, fire chimney and port a pottie. would stay here again on my way to yellowstone from northwest

A warm, welcoming, and lovely stay!
We had a wonderful stay! The location is perfectly situated so you’re not close to any noisy highways. There is a road, a country back road where some locals go fast but there’s hardly anyone on it at night. We didn’t hear anything. The campsite is a nice small area where the hosts provide a chimnea and picnic table along with wood to have a small fire. There’s also a porta potty on site if you need it. The hosts are both amazing and their little farm is very cool. We would recommend this to friends and family and anyone looking for a very nice and quaint overnight spot to enjoy en route on their adventure. We hope to be able to stay again on our way back through the region.
