We love this place and hope you will too! Although the site is near the road it is very quiet. The Dugout refers to the very old fallen tree that sits near the campfire sitting log. Lawrence, Cindy and the spirit of our Dachshund Ragu welcome you to the land that our family has owned since 1977. Learn more about this land: We've expanded our site to include a pull-through that will accomodate trailers up to 20' long. The site includes a 20 amp, 120 volt RV electrical connection. You can also bring an extra vehicle (UTV, motorcycles, etc.) as there is additional parking at the old tent site.  The site has a flat area for a tent, outhouse, a small table, fire pit (Dry conditions = no fires) and sitting log.  We live in a diverse, rural area with all that comes with it. Talache Landing is just a few miles down the road and is a wonderful place to take a dip, paddle or just sunbathe. USFS motorized trail 117 is nearby and on the way to the lake as well.

"The Dugout"
Nice spot 25 min to Sandpoint
Pros: Larry is very friendly and responsive online, really nice site - beautiful log bench, table, outhouse, level tent site with fresh bark, fire pit with gravel area (although there was a burn ban, so no fire for us :( There were very few bugs. Lots of trees, feels pretty private. Cons: These are pretty minor, but can help you decide if this is the place for you depending on what's important to you. 15 min off highway including a couple miles of dusty, dirt road with some nice potholes, tent site is 15ft from gravel road with a few cars on it (6-8 first evening, seemed like less Fri night and Sat but we weren't there that much.), houses fairly near, but you can't see them from the site, cacophony of dogs in the distance pretty steady in the afternoon and evening, rooster in the distance in the morning, chain sawing Sat. morning, no cell service.

Nice, quiet camping spot.
My wife and I prefer camping away from a bunch of other campers so this was a nice spot. It's quiet, fairly easy to find and has a clean outhouse. Bring lots of bug spray. We stayed while we ventured into Sandpoint during the day and it was a quick drive to and from. Would definitely stay again.

Follow directions. Google sent me the wrong way at first. Nice little site. Kinda dusty, but that's ok. Quiet. Nice soft spot for your tent. Happy to see a restroom. All in all a good stay. It is exactly as the description states. Would recommend.
