Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee). When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following: Best lake views: Sites A, C and D. (Sites 1, 2, 3, E and F have partially obstructed lake views due to trees.) Easiest RV access: Site B. It's a pull-through site. Most private: Sites A, B, 1, 2 and 3, or Sites C/D or E/F, when booked in pairs. (Do not book C/D or E/F for complete privacy unless you book them in pairs.) Most shade: Sites A, E and F. Sunniest: Sites B, C and D. Electric access: Sites B, C and D. (C/D share a power pedestal.) Nearest to a Port-a-Potty: Sites A, C, D, E and F. Nearest to water tower (potable water): Sites C, D, E and F. Nearest to lake: Site A. Best for large parties: Book Sites C/D together for larger RV camping parties, or book Sites E/F together for moderate-sized tent camping parties.

Campsite C occupies the east side of a shared loop and can accommodate up to three vehicles, with one of those being an RV or Trailer. This site is larger and has gorgeous lake views. This is an excellent site for moderate-sized camping parties of 4-10 campers. Campsite C has a picnic table, fire pit, and a shared 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. No tent pad on this site.(Campsite D occupies the center & west side of the loop, and also has access to this electric box.) IMPORTANT: Site C occupies one side of a shared loop, so you may or may not have another camping party relatively close in Site D. If you'd like to ensure complete privacy and/or exclusive use of the electric box -- or if you'd like to host a larger camping party -- then you should book BOTH Site D and Site C together. This would give you the entire loop to yourself. Please only considering booking Site C by itself if you are committed to being respectful to a neighboring camping party in the center or on the other side of the loop. . Access: This is a pull-in/back-out side if Campsite D is occupied. Otherwise it's a pull-through using the loop. Please note that RV's should plan on a multi-point turn at least once to make it around the loop. Booking this campsite in combination with adjacent Campsite F is ideal for larger camping parties of 9+ or if you'd just like to ensure complete privacy (no neighboring campers) for your trip. Campsite B is a pull-over, RV/Trailer/Truck/Campervan/Auto site (i.e. no tent pads) which is more secluded in the woods. This site is definitely the easiest to access for larger RVs, as it is pull-thru. While this site is very private, there are no direct lake views from the site. You must walk about 50 yards for lake views. This is easily our sunniest site and has a picnic table, fire pit and a 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. Parking: Pull to the right as far as possible so as not to impede passer-by vehicles at the campground exit. See campground map in the photos for site location. *** To keep bears away, this is a "pack-it-out" campground, meaning all trash must be transported off property upon checkout. A - Lakefront Tent + Tiny Cabin

Site A has a small 2-bed 8'x8' cabin and an outdoor grass tent pad, with expansive views of Mirror Lake as it is located down by the shoreline, near the fishing dock. It is ideal for 2 campers (if using the cabin only) to 6 campers (cabin and tent). It also has a picnic table, fire pit and Port-a-Potty. Dry camping. No dedicated electric, however a solar panel does provide some intermittent power on sunny days -- enough to charge phones or light up the cabin at night. (Note: if the angle of the sun is not hitting the panels enough to charge the battery, feel free to detach both the panel and battery from their connecting power cable. Once disconnected, both can be moved to a sunnier spot to gain maximum sun exposure, then reconnected. This will charge up the battery much faster. The best spot for charging is on the grass down by the dock hammock.) Access: 1 vehicle maximum for this site. This site is ideal for cars, trucks and campervans. RV's and trailers must be under 24 feet long for this site. This site is pull-in/back-out for small RV's, however cars, vans and trucks can turn around to exit with a 5-point turn. Parking: If you have car, truck or van, please park in the gravel lot across the road from the cabin. Use caution when pulling in and out of the lot, as the clearance is a bit tight. If you have a longer vehicle (RV, trailer, etc), then you'll need to park along the shoulder near the cabin. Please note that the road that this campsite is located upon also acts as a driveway, therefore please do not impede passer-by vehicles when parking. If you must use the shoulder, move the "no parking" stanchions and pull over as far as possible. Please replace the "no parking" stanchions along the shoulder upon check-out. See campground map in the photos for site location. *** To keep bears away, this is a "pack-it-out" campground, meaning all trash must be transported off property upon checkout. Amazing camping location, close to town but far enough that it feels super rural. Love the nature walks, the dock and provided amenities. The only thing was the ports potty got gross quickly and I think this site is big enough for 2 cars although only 1 is allowed. There is more than enough for 2 cars.

Small sites with no real water view

1 - Tent Site on Fern Trail
We had a good stay overall, and the campground was clean, peaceful, and well maintained. We booked Tent Site 1 on Fern Trail, which is a small walk-in site. With our 3-4 person tent, there wasn’t much room left for anything else, and parking is in a shared lot, so you do need to carry your gear in. After our stay, I realized I had misunderstood the campground layout. We thought the Fern Trail sites were the main tent sites and that the larger sites were for RVs only. The larger sites can also accommodate tents, and had we understood that, we probably would have chosen one of those for the extra space and vehicle access. One thing I would still note is that the illustrated campground map makes the Fern Trail sites appear much closer to the lake than they actually feel. We chose Site 1 partly because it looked very close to the water and dock, but from the campsite itself there was very little lake view. Overall, it was a nice campground and we would stay again. I’d just recommend looking closely at the different site types and choosing one that best fits the amount of space and access you want.

Fabulous camp!! Plenty of space to hammock, lots of communicative wildlife (a teenage chipmunk made it his priority to follow and chirp at us around the site), and Nathaniel was super communicative. Great proximity to local sites.

We had a wonderful time at this quiet little Hipcamp spot in the woods! Everything is so thoughtfully laid out, amenities and activities available for rent, fun scavenger hunts for the kids, a cute little dock on Mirror Lake and only a couple minute drive down to Telache Landing, which has crystal clear water and great swimming & fishing. The site (C) was easy to get into and peaceful! Would definitely stay here again. 🌟

Great Large Group Camping! Excellent company camping trip, we rented the entire site. Employees & their families enjoyed the weekend. Plenty of private campsites for everyone and a great common area for everyone to join for games and food. We anchord a floating trampoline and a aqua lily pad mat in the lake past the dock for added water fun, along with our paddle boards & other water toys. Paradise on Mirror Lake campground is spacious, clean, quiet & a lot to do for a large group :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Big Foot Campout! We loved the fairy lights that came on at night and the kids enjoyed seeing frogs, tadpoles and a turtle. We paddle boarded on Mirror Lake and it was such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy. Nathan was a wonderful host. He is so quick to respond to any questions and is super helpful. We will definitely camp here again!

We absolutely loved camping here! It was so nice to stay at a small, well-tended campground and I feel like it has now ruined the larger, state/federal run campground experience. It was quiet, and the lake was so refreshing and calm. We felt like we had it all to ourselves for most of our time there. Nathaniel was a very communicative host and I could tell he had put a lot of effort into making this an enjoyable campground for visitors.

We were at Nathaniel’s Hipcamp for only one night and were the only ones there. It was quiet and peaceful. The spot for our van was level, and if we had used a tent, that spot looked nice and level, too. The porta-potty was spotless. Mosquitos were out in mid-July, as expected. About one bar of service with AT&T.

We had a great time at this location. It is set up very well with great signage and privacy. The lake was warm to swim in and the boat dock was a nice treat. We felt safe and secure, and it had all the amenities we needed, we will stay here again.

Site B is a really great Hipcamp! Tons of really nice touches including the enchanted forest, water on site, and great signage and lanterns all around the grounds. The site itself was super. Very easy in & out, and totally private. Nathaniel was super communicative, making it easy to find the spot and know what to expect once we got there. We will absolutely book another stay (but we’ll get C&D, which have breathtaking views of the lake. Overall, this was a top tier Hipcamp.
