The Hollyhock Homestead is 10-acres of remote mountain paradise and yet a 15-minute drive to beautiful Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille. We’ve got a small permaculture garden with chickens and bees as well as trails through the land winding up and down the hills through mixed conifer forests and granite outcroppings. There are two seasonal ponds, a disc golf course, a spring fed creek with hammocks (and a built in chess board) and beautiful views. Moose, deer and a variety of birds also frequent the land. Our rustic and remote off-grid cabin radiates creativity, peace and rejuvenation and yet it’s only 15 minutes from Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille and 40 minutes to Schweitzer Ski Resort. It has a rudimentary gravity fed water system, propane oven/stove top, solar lights and battery power. There’s a small couch that pulls into a single bed and a loft with a comfortable full size mattress. There’s a wood burning stove for heat, a deck, an outdoor fire pit, composting toliet and is surrounded by trees. It connects to a trail system and is less than a minute from a spring fed creek, two ponds and beautiful mountain views. Pack it in, pack it out.
Living room: the entire room has beautiful lighting with wall-sized windows looking into the trees. There’s a small couch that can pull into a full mattress, a table for two, an acoustic guitar, and lots of books and games for you to use. This room stays chilly in the winter months.
Kitchenette: this is where the fireplace is located (the sole heat for the cabin) which means on cold winter nights you will likely wake up or return home from an adventure to a cold home. There is a three-season gravity fed water system that services the sink. In the winter this is replaced by a 4-gallon glass jar with tap that can be refilled as needed with our delicious well water. The cooking stove is propane and has two burners and a small oven. There is some seating near the fireplace and basic kitchen needs including coffee and tea. Sliding door leads to the patio which looks out into the forest.
Loft: the loft is directly above the kitchenette and is accessible via a very steep latter. There is a comfortable double mattress and some shelves for storing clothing. It says very warm up there with a fire going.
