Spectacular sunsets and convenience
This is a great base for exploring the Palouse, a must-see region sprawling Washington and Idaho. It is a rare treat to have a private, beautiful spot with your own flush toilet, shower and outdoor sink for dishes adjacent to the site. Luxurious. Power for our AC and water onsite made it very convenient, especially in the high heat we had. Care has been taken to set up the site so it is set away from the onsite house and screened by trees, and so RVs have good space to manoeuvre. The sunsets and views were magnificent. Great to see and hear so many birds. Road noise from the highway is a definite factor to be aware of, but if you’re going to be touring about in the day instead of hoping to sit quietly and read, it’s fine. It quiets down in the evening. Many public campsites are after all next to highways. If you’re looking for absolute quiet it might not be the site for you.
Travis and his wife were very considerate hosts and immediate communicators who worked to fix a mechanical issue and offered a partial refund without being asked.
When in the area, allow me to recommend you take in a brew and a meal at the Palouse brewery, and the Bierhaus in Moscow. Drive some of the backroads and hit a winery in Uniontown (Saturdays) and the Dahmen Barn artists’ collective there. Kodiak Butte is close by for hiking. Moscow offers lots of dining, drinking and shopping options: check out the shops on Main. Saturday is market day. Palouse has a post office, gas and small grocery.
