This place is purely magical and far exceeded any expectations we could’ve had. It’s peaceful, private and has everything you could need. The coqui were dreamy to fall asleep to. We were sad to leave and genuinely can’t wait to come back. Many thanks for the beautiful experience!

We had such a wonderful stay in the Bali Hale. It's a beautiful, peaceful property that is exactly like the photos. I loved lounging in the hammock chair and doing a bit of yoga on the deck. We didn't do any cooking but it looks like everything you could need in the kitchen is there. The only unexpected thing was how noisy the frogs are! They can be a bit loud so bring ear plugs if you are sensitive.
Overall such a great experience. We explored a lot of the big island, but we could have just stayed at the hale and been happy relaxing.

What an oasis! We had a wonderful time staying at The Bali Hale for two nights. This beautifully curated space with thoughtful touches was spotless. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, the outdoor shower and bath were amazing, and the bed was incredibly comfortable! We stayed for a week at the Bali Hale, and it was amazing. This is not just a place to lay your head. It is a true rejuvenating outdoor experience. We loved listening to the birds and coqui frogs as the sun set, surrounded by lush green vegetation. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to escape and reconnect with nature.

The Bali Hale was truly a highlight of our trip. It is a perfect setting to disconnect and reconnect. From waking up with the sun and morning coffee to falling asleep to the chirps of the coqui, we enjoyed every minute. The yoga platform and twinkling lights on the outdoor shower made it even more relaxing. The kitchen was well-equipped and we appreciated details like charging cords and hair ties. We hope to stay again soon!

This is an unusually special place with a beautiful peaceful character that you will remember fondly when you leave. We loved the outdoor kitchen, the geckos, the outdoor tub, the yoga platform, the soft morning light, the unique soundscape, all of it. Strongly recommended!

The space she created was so peaceful and secluded. We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was so well equipped. It had plenty of kitchenware, amenities, activities (fire, tiki bath, star gazing, games) The landscape is stunning and really gives you a retreat type of feel. The jungle at night is audible but so soothing.
The yoga platform was so magical to practice on!
Leanna was so helpful, she had great recommendations for activities around the island which led us to some highlights of our trip!
The best “glamping” experience I have had! Cannot recommend it more!

We had an absolutely amazing stay and wish we could have stayed longer! It is incredibly well stocked and the hosts are very communicative and provided great information! Truly peaceful and regenerative to stay here and everything was just perfect!
The location was perfect, tucked away but a quick drive to town or to Hilo.

Leanna's place is the perfect place to rest your soul and reconnect with nature. It comes fully equipped with all the amenities, like fridge, sink, hot water, parking, even charging cables. You're surrounded by leaves and trees and at night the dim lights and frogs keep you from the doom scrolling. Totally recommend if you need a digital detox in a tropical paradise

Bali Hale was perfect! It was exactly what we needed and expected! Leanna and Joe were gracious hosts and always accessible. The space itself was BEAUTIFUL and there's nothing better than waking up in bed to the sun rising above the treeline :) We loved the outdoor kitchen, tub, shower and patio area. They provided everything we could need (though not sure if they also had beach chairs, small cooler, or snorkel gear to use because we never asked, but in hindsight those were things that we could've used). The location was central and convenient to the towns on the east side of the island (15-20 min from Hilo, 10-15 min from Pahoa and 40-45 min from Volcano Nat'l Park), and just minutes away from the perfect spot to watch a sunrise! We will definitely be visiting again.

Our FOUR nights at the Bali Hale were okay. The place was certainly physically comfortable: the bed was great, the kitchen well appointed, the outdoor shower spectacular, etc ... BUT this property is a bit out of the way, down a long road in what my wife and I started to call "the compound"; the bugs can be a become annoying and force one to not be able to sit outside of the screened in bedroom (with our hosts recommendations we were able to keep the fruit flies away, but not the regular ones); the coqui frogs are not the lullabying to sleep kind because they are right outside your door in a patch of plants and bushes and their volume is ABOVE the volume of normal conversation between me and my wife (78 decibels to be exact, that's 2 decibels away from a garbage disposal or city traffic noise); some breezes find their way through the property, but often no ... ; the stones that are spread throughout the property to walk on were cool in the pictures, but they are just plastic stones! Yep, plastic stones! That's kind of tacky! And lastly, also tacky are the many random and meaningless decorations spread throughout the property (a giant vase for holding nothing, a heart sticker on the toilet paper, all the gold decorative highlights, etc ...) that are meant to resemble cool tchotchkes but aren't, and just look blah ... So, this was a pretty comfortable space but not so much a workable or livable one. And really not hip, sorry.

This was one of the best stays I’ve had at any HipCamp or AirBnB. As everyone else has said, the place was BEAUTIFUL and the hosts were incredibly accommodating. Nothing could have made our stay more perfect, and we’re ready to plan our next stay!

Amazing space. Indoor outdoor living, well thought out space with gorgeous attention to details. Nice linens, well appointed in every way, yet also minimalistic. So much care and thought has gone into this rental.
Lots of nature in this jungle/ micro-orchard property from the coqui at night to the sweet geckos everywhere.
Easy to get to and a good location for exploring.
Looking forward to returning to this sweet and magical space.

It sincerely will be the highlight of your year, even if you don’t expect it to be at first! The Bali Hale just happened to be available for my last minute trip to the Big Island (lucky me). It was more than I ever expected and all the reviews are true - just book it!!! The privacy is freeing and relaxing - I loved walking around naked, laying out on the meditation platform, connecting with all the critters around - and there are many. I saw the biggest shooting star of my life here and I will never forget it. Thank you Leanna for creating the most magical slice of paradise on Big Island. It’s truly a gem. I would recommend booking an absolutely minimum of 3-4 nights if you’re able. I wish I had stayed longer. Thank you again, can’t wait to return

My son and I stayed at the Bali Hale for two nights and loved every minute! This little slice of paradise was the perfect location to visit Volcano National Park and Hilo. Our time at the Hale was peaceful and magical. We loved the sounds of the birds by day and the coqui frogs at night. Yoga, the swing hammock and soaking/bathing in the outdoor tub/shower was the perfect way to relax after a day of adventuring. The outdoor kitchen was well stocked and the living area was beautifully decorated and comfortable. Our hosts were highly attentive and easy to communicate with. Book this site, you won’t have any regrets!!

Honestly one of the best places I’ve stayed! Just crazy how you can live almost completely outside here in Hawai’i, I love it! Close to Hilo and Puna, a good base for the Maunas, and a short drive from Volcano park! Definitely would come back! Don’t hesitate!

The Bali Hale is the coziest tropical paradise ever! Everything is created with love and great attention to detail! The bed is VERY comfortable, the kitchen is equipped with everything you might need if you want to prep a meal, and the outdoor shower (+ bathtub!!) is the icing on the cake! You have a lot of private space to relax and enjoy this peaceful place. I could easily stay there for months. Totally recommend it to everyone who wants to relax in nature and enjoy all the great things Hawaii has to offer!

Leannas place is MAGICAL. They’ve thought of every single detail to make it the absolute perfect Hawaiian relaxation spot. We only wish we had more days there! The outdoor tub and shower were the icing on the cake. Don’t hesitate to book this spot!

Beautiful little place unique and wild with everything you could need. Everything is open to the air but not bothered by even plentiful rain. Lots to do Hilo side! Also close to volcanoes np. We stayed last two days at a hotel in Kona and missed Bali Hale & wished we just stayed there the entire time. Remember to check days and hours of local places in Hilo and plan around!

Absolutely gorgeous space. Everything is so considered and caters to your every need. You have so much space to yourself, you could be miles away from civilisation. The sounds of nature soothed us to sleep at night and the geckos and frogs were so cute.
We were a big fan of the shower pressure and temperature. The bed was very comfy and the airflow at night was lovely. The little touches inside the bedroom were wonderful.
Leanna provided some awesome recommendations for us to visit.
Within 10 minutes of farmers markets and supermarkets, you are a stone throw away from some of the big islands best attractions. We had the best time swimming with mantas, going to Volcanoes National Park and swimming in beautiful pools.
The Bali Hale is the perfect escape from the standard tourist traps and the perfect place to come home to after a day of exploring.

Beautiful, peaceful place in the jungle! We loved the indoor/outdoor environment and falling asleep to the sound of rain and frogs. Everything was so thoughtfully done, from the decorations to the furniture to the outdoor shower/soaking tub and everything in between!

Leanna has created a little oasis here! A true gem to enjoy. I am so glad that I decided to stay 2 nights and that I saved the best for last on my little 6 night stay on the East side of the island!
