I grew up here my whole life, and I never got bored living here. Every day I got to wake up and go to the beach just minutes away from home, or my cousins and I would have a fishing contest to see who could catch the most fish. We would also go paddling up the river to lay nets down to catch some ono (delicious) crab for dinner. Nothing like living the true local style, which is the same experience I want you to have. Mangrove Lounge 3 was incredible! Check-in was super easy, and the hosts were incredibly friendly. The location is perfect, with close proximity to everything you could need. The land was very clean and flat, making it perfect for camping. The outdoor shower and restroom area were very clean and well-built—much better than any regular campsite bathrooms I'm used to. A tip: make sure to drive slow through the neighborhood. I would highly recommend this campsite!

Local style camping!
If you’re wanting a real local Hawai’i feel, you need to check out this campsite! It’s located towards the north west side of the island, and it’s more country to me. No big buildings, just a bunch of little mom and pop shops which is what we were looking for nearby. There are four campsites, we chose #3 and I rented a gazebo tent, which was placed on a platform that was built along with a perfect picnic bench. There was a big tree overhead which was great for shade. The big plus for choosing this site, is a flushable toilet!! They also have an awesome shower, does have hot water, but I prefer a nice cold shower after spending the day at the beach in the sun. The sites are pretty spaced out, so you don’t feel cramped or overcrowded. One plus for my kids is the river near, my son fished and fished and fished his little heart out, and my daughter looked for special shells or glass pieces along the bay. There was a nice breeze the first night, second night not so much, so prepare for that. Bring a small fan if you can, also there is mosquitoes and some people can’t stand that, but hey you are in nature, what do you expect. Remember to drive slow past the homes, road is bumpy but you in the country so get over it & respect the neighbors and owners. All in all, sweet spot, the host are blessed humble inviting people and we are looking to return with a bunch of family and friends to rent all four campsites out for a weekend!

Our 2nd time!
This is our 2nd time in Oahu with a camper van. The space you’ll get is calm and relaxing a must for most after a busy day of exploring. Full bathroom with hot water shower (if you’re into that). Very short drives to local shops and beaches. Apart from the amenities and beautiful space to spend the night, Kauilani the host is amazing. Responsive in communication, attentive to her guest, and overall a fantastic person, embodiment of the Aloha Spirt. We hope to be able to post “our 3rd time” soon :)

Quiet and Spacious Camping!
I tried a few camping sites with my family and this was the best. Of all tried it was the only one that was flat and quiet, and lacked any nearby roosters. Not sure why the listing said no potable water, that seemed false. It was on the buggy side.
