Glamping anyone? Located on 4 acres just 10 miles from downtown Athens, the Great Escape has everything for the excitement of camping. The site is surrounded with tons of farmland and forest, making it a private oasis just minutes from excellent restaurants, nightlife, breweries, and all things UGA! Looking for hiking? You are just miles away from state parks! Get away your way....not the hotel way! The Great Escape currently has power and water hook-up but does not have direct sewer access. We do have a spot to dump your black tank when you leave and we do allow gray tank water directly on the ground. We also have 3 RV sites with full hook-ups for long-term renters and a spot for our camper that we rent out on Airbnb. This property offers privacy along with peace and security. For the more adventurous type, we also have a boondocking option for those who do not need the extra amenities. This option offers tent camping in the woods or a space to park a camper or small motorhome for 1-2 nights. Please reach out first regarding this option.

The site is surrounded with tons of farmland and forest, making it a private oasis just minutes from excellent restaurants, nightlife, breweries, and all things UGA! Looking for hiking? You are just miles away from state parks! Get away your way....not the hotel way! This site has a 50/30/20 power and water hook-up. While it does not have a dedicated sewer at the site, there is a dump tank that we provide at the site that we will dump for you once you leave. We do allow gray water to be dumped directly on the ground. The site is easy to back into and has privacy from the other sites on the property.

Site 2, aka "Boondockers", is great for those coming with a pop up camper, tent, or those with a camper looking for a more affordable escape. You can camp anywhere on the property or in the woods but cannot camp at the RV sites that are occupied. You can park anywhere to the side of the gravel drive. If the Great Escape site is free, then you can pitch a tent on the gravel space on the left of the property.

Quiet and close escape from Athens.

The Great Escape
This is a great place to stay near Athens . It's only 10mi from the stadium, travel time depends on traffic. It's just far enough away to be quite and restful but close enough to all that Athens has to offer. It's off the road and easy to get to. Wide hard pack gravel driveway. Lots are easy to get to. Ashley was very attentive and communicated well for our stay.

The Great Escape
Loved the site! very close to Downtown Athens, great hook-ups and very friendly hosts. The host even allowed us to last minute book an extra day so we could come early! With all the rain from the past couple weeks the red clay around the hook-ups got a little messy, so just be prepared if its been wet before arriving, aside from that we were very content with the stay! We camped with our 30' travel trailer and the site was very maneuverable. I would suggest arriving before sundown so you can find the driveway entrance at the road easily and so you can enjoy a picturesque view!

Beautiful property with great hosts

The Great Escape
This was the perfect spot for us. We have a 43’ 5th wheel and it was easy in and out. Perfect location being in the country where it’s peaceful, private and very quiet, but still only a few minutes to town. The driveway and sites are gravel and plenty big enough so that you don’t feel like you’re cramped for space. Great hosts also, Ashley was always making sure we were good and didn’t need anything. We are really happy we found this place and will be back whenever we are in the area.

Hosts were Fantastic! Easy to communicate with, so helpful with any questions. Power and water were great. So quite at night. Location was convenient to downtown Athens and the surrounding area.

Great spot to park the RV for a game weekend. Easy in-and-out and not far from campus. Quiet location made for a peaceful evening. We'll definitely be back!

Very quiet & peaceful setting - only a few other campsites. Very nice to have a full-hookup campsite. The sunset was beautiful. Peaceful sound of birds in the morning. Enjoyed watching a hawk. The camp hosts are helpful & responsive.
