Magnolia Campground at Hixson Farms

My husband and I tent camped with our two daughters at Magnolia Farms. We loved the animals and being able to visit with them so much! They are all very sweet, if a bit inquisitive, and very interested in any food we had :)

It is such a quaint space. I highly recommend it. It was charming, clean, and as a solo traveler, I felt very safe. It’s was very easy to access and the farm animals were a delight!

It was a cute spot- Unfortunately we got rained out so we had to pack our bags and leave during the night My only other issue was there was animal poop everywhere so it wasn't toddler friendly.

Awesome spot to camp! The animals are absolutely adorable and amenities are great! Janna is very helpful and fast to reply. Easy access to Chattanooga, private and safe.

Exceptional Experience!

This was one of my best memories with the Grandkids and I wish we would have stayed another day of two. Jana was most accommodating in every way and gave the kids a taste of farm living. We will be back with the younger grandkids when they get old enough to enjoy the mini horses and donkeys! 🥰

Great First RV Stay!

This was our first RV journey, and it did not disappoint. The farm animals and ander everywhere and love people...just be sure any pets you bring are ok with them. Janna was extremely hospitable, and she had us help her feed one of the Highland cows... another example of this not just being a stay, but an experience!

This was a great spot for the family to enjoy some time with each other, see some animals, and meet a sweet working dog. The facilities provided are nice and there are plenty of spots to hang out in the evening with some beautiful lighting. This is such a great spot!

We really enjoyed camping on the farm. Janna was super nice and extremely helpful with some tips to help us with our own place. Very quiet and peaceful. Really neat to have some of the animals walk right up to the camper. For anyone looking for a unique experience we would highly recommend Magnolia!

Camping with animals!

We had a great time camping on Janna's land! Goliath, the dog, was so friendly and came to welcome us. Pig Daddy came through our camp to say hello, then the next morning Pig Mom and three piglets came to say hi. We met two baby goats and the two kids also camping, bottle fed them. Then it was time to feed Maggie, the cow, and I bottle fed her. It was a lovely time and we had a blast!

Animal-Filled Weekend Getaway!

Perfect weekend getaway! I car camped, and the facilities were awesome - clean bathroom and very cool outdoor shower. The farm was beautiful and relaxing, so many animals to see (we even helped bottle feed a highland cow!) the available firewood bundles were very convenient and I spent the night reading by the fire. I found the sounds of the animals at night very relaxing, but if that’s not up your alley, bring some headphones/earplugs. Extremely convenient location to hike at Cloudland Canyon.

Janna was very flexible when making sure we were accommodated. The farm offered all amenities including firewood and eggs! Very friendly environment. Have to come back since while visiting it mostly raining.

My 17 yo grandson & I truly enjoyed coming back to this spot each evening for 3 nights. So many superlatives. The outdoor shower was divine. The bathroom was clean & nicely maintained as well as tastefully decorated as one would decorate a welcoming home. Janna is a gracious hostess. The animals are a joy! Campfire area just for the campers. So many thoughtful touches. We truly enjoyed this spot as we explored Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military History Park. Highly recommend. Chickamauga itself is a lovely historical city as well.

My wife and really enjoyed the fact that it is away from any hustle and bustle. They do have 3 Great Pyrenees that do their job and are quite vocal at night. The highland cows were a treat. We would definitely recommend and would stay there again in the future.

Quality farmland camping!

As an avid State-Park camper, whenever branching out to private-owned properties, the Host is really what can make-or-break the experience. Luckily, Janna is a great, accommodating host with excellent communication. The interaction with the animals and quality bread-making session was icing on the cake in addition to giving the kids plenty to do. The bathroom is top-quality WITH A TANKLESS WATER HEATER! There is decent cell signal on the property and small town activities 10-15mins away. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant experience. We’re already planning our trip for spring!

We stayed 2 nights at this beautiful property. Janna was so nice. We felt bad about our late arrival Friday night but she was super sweet and helpful. We got the dozen egg add-on and they were delicious—definitely recommend! It was so fun to hang out with the animals during the day. She gave us a tour of the upper level of the farm to see the pigs, goats, and rabbits too! Our favorite animals were the highland cows and the dog named Sugar (who is the sweetest and loves all the belly rubs). We visited Cloudland State Park during the day which is nice and close and so pretty! Overall it was such a great location and experience. (The only downside to our stay was one of the farm dogs slept about 10 feet from our travel trailer both nights and barked loudly throughout most of the night. We know it’s doing its farm dog protective job, but it made it REALLY difficult to sleep. Not sure if anything can be changed about that. We might try again a different time of year, or bring earplugs and a sound machine to see if that helps. Because otherwise we would love to come back and bring our friends who also love camping!) Janna was super nice and more than welcoming. The animals were all great as well. While I understand the necessity of the working dogs, hearing them bark all night was less than great. Luckily in our camper we could drown out the barking.

This place is a great camping experience, as long as you have a camper/RV. The outdoor shower was nice, the bathroom was better than most houses bathrooms, and you can literally wake up to miniature cows outside of your tent! The host was super responsive! The reason I say this is great for a camper/RV is because the dogs, who are guard dogs for the livestock, bark, all night. It is their job to bark all night but if you are in a tent, you are going to hear every one of them. They will visit your campsite often during the day and evening, and if you are camping in a tent and cooking outside, you need to be very aware of where you leave food. I will say that when I messaged the host to see if there was a way to get the dogs out of camp while we ate, she was very quick to call them up to the house and kept them up there until late evening.

We loved camping here! This is a level site in a pastoral setting with free roaming highland cows. Access to a bathroom and outdoor shower & full hook ups available. This place is easy to get to, and feels private. Firewood bundles and farm fresh eggs for a deal. Lovely view of the stars at night. We enjoyed touring the farm with the owner. Our 13 year old is already asking to go back again.

We enjoyed our time, it was very relaxing. Our daughter was so excited about the farm animals. The bathrooms and shower were nice and clean. The spots are fairly close together, but there are only three. The only down side was that our last night the farm dogs barked right outside our camper all night, I am sure they were just doing there job and watching over the livestock. Overall our stay was pleasant, and we enjoyed the farm animals.

We loved this farm. The animals were so fun to watch and interact with. Janna the host was super sweet and has lots of knowledge to be gleaned about a working farm. Would love to visit again and we highly recommend. We have a 30 ft travel trailer with one slide and the space was perfect fit.

Hostess was very accommodating as we came in late and a day early. My mistake. The electricity didn't work in my motorhome, seemed like it might have a short at the pole. I have a surge protector on my cord. I asked for an add on of eggs, but the hens weren't laying.

An exceptional find

Jana is very helpful and responds quickly. The area is quiet and peaceful, and was a perfect respite while I was visiting an ailing parent. The variety of animals provided some laughs and entertainment and the dark skies are perfect for stargazing. The fluffy white dog Sugar is always available to give and receive love. Full hook up was much appreciated and there were other amenities that made my stay and exceptional experience.
