Situated atop Happy Top Summit on the border of Georgia and Tennessee running along I-75, this property started out as a plantation during the civil war era. There were groves of peach and apple trees, livestock, gardens and fields of corn all over the top of this hill all owned by one man. He eventually distributed some of of the land to his help who also a family member come back from the war and buy the rest of it. Through the years the family expanded and developed their own lots with homes and eventually in 1960 my grandfather was up in Chattanooga distributing bootleg liquor and met up with a man that sold him 2 plots of this land that were still undeveloped. He eventually brought his family up from South Georgia and developed it and put several homes here, one family member even building their own home. As the years went by the interstate developed as well as the surrounding area, and this property did too seeing many family members come and go here. But now it has been passed to me. I have spent many years clearing out old homesteads and renovating the property to what it is today. There are still remnants of the house that was built at the back of the property but it has been reclaimed by nature. We now have just our house with a beautiful garden, a small pond, a beautiful patio with a tropical garden, a pool and hot tub, a horse and a beautiful camp site situated atop the property overlooking the forest that surrounds us. In the fall u can even see a view of the other side of the county through those woods. We are creating our own stories now to pass on to the next generation and hope u will come visit to create your own memories as well! Learn more about this land: Come join us atop Happy Top!! We have a nice little piece of property tucked away in the back of our neighborhood nestled in the foothills of the Appalacian Mountains in Northwest Ga on the Tn border of Chattanooga. We are in the suburbs of Chattanooga right off of I-75 but u wouldnt realize it as we are just minutes away from Camp Jordan, Costco, the Chattanooga mall, and downtown Chattanooga with the Aquarium and Tn River with many activities! Our camping area is a concrete pad feet away from ur vehicle in a small pasture area that u might get to share with our horse! It features a sitting area with table, chairs, a wood firepit and seating area and a medium sized grill with a nice pile of fire wood to use. Great location. Great host.
This was a perfect basecamp for my mountain bike trip. The location is very convenient to town, Fort Oglethorpe and Chattanooga.

Great suburban campsite
Great suburban campsite in the true spirit of Hipcamp. Though it's a bit of a backyard site, it's not walled off by homes and is removed far enough from the host's backyard and any other homes to have privacy. Shaun and his wife Bridget were fantastically accommodating and available at any time including before our arrival and after our departure, while being mindful of distance for COVID-19 precautions. Plenty of room for multiple tents with a nice firepit (wood provided) and chairs to lounge around in. I'd highly recommend this site, especially as it's quite private compared to any of the other main campsites in the Chattanooga area.
