Learn more about this land: Campsites overlook creek in a secluded hardwoods location adjacent to Mountain bike and hiking trails.  Property is a part of a 180 year old homestead with a rich history. Several unique features on the property are within a short hike along with a guided tour and history of this unique civil war era farm. Also adjacent is a private equestrian facility with private lessons as available. Athens is a short drive with a plethora of economical eateries and of course Athens music. The work in progress Firefly Trail is 3 miles from the camp site and road bike riding offers low traffic unlimited routes.

      Hawkes Creek Farm 100 Acre Woods
      We had a great experience with Gene and at Hawkes Creek Farm campsite #1. Communication with Gene was timely, clear, and easy. He gave us good directions to the parking area and met us there to show us the campsite and tell us a little about the property and himself. The site was just a short walk from the parking area. It was nicely cleared and flat, good for our tents, with some useful wood spools for tables and handy stumps for seats/footrests. The fire ring, with wood, was ready to go. Gene provided us 5 gallons of drinking water, which was a real convenience. The creek was audible just below the campsite, and the "beach" was just a short walk away. We had a pleasant hike along the mountain bike trails, walking about 2.5 miles, and we could have explored much more of the property before exhausting all of our options. After dark we heard a few barred owls — one even stopped in a tree right above the campsite and gave us a few good hoots, which was a real treat. All in all, Hawkes Creek Farm really delivered as a perfect hybrid between car camping and backcountry camping. Recommended; would book again.
