Drayton Island is a private island (only accessible by boat*) on Lake George and the St. John's River in North Central Florida, home of the manatee and crystal clear fresh water springs and part of the historical "Bartram Trail". We are on 6 secluded, jungle acres with 12 more additional available for exploring. We have a canoe and a pontoon boat that seats 8 people available for guided charter. You can explore the shoreline, find hidden canals or be at one of our crystal clear, freshwater springs in about 15 minutes. Enjoy stunning sunrises from our private dock, watch the wildlife from anywhere on the property.
NO CLEANING FEES :)
*private water taxi may be available for $50 round trip. If you need a water taxi please inquire in regards to availability before booking. After sundown and late night pick ups will incur a surcharge. See EXTRAS
.Located on the south end of the historic and private island, Drayton Island is part of the Bartram Trail and is 15 minutes by boat from Silver Glen Springs and Salt Springs run. The cabin was originally the 'cook house' for the main house which was built by a gentleman from New Jersey in 1890 who arrived and departed by steam ship.
The view from the cabin is an open field and jungle with over 15 private acres for hiking, a private dock for fishing and over 7 miles of dirt road for bike riding, walking or running. We also have a 17 foot Grumman canoe available for paddling around the island.
As for wild life we have plenty: wild turkey, deer, a myriad of birdlife, alligators, snakes...and even bear so please know your nature manners and if you don't please ask.
My husband and i have birthdays within a couple weeks of each other and decided to celebrate them at Cristina’s property. The WiFi password hints at getting off your devices and we took that advice to heart. Naps, reading, walks/exploration, bike rides, wild animals, farm animals (including the friendliest kitty), sunsets, and sunrises was the prescription and the Waterfront Island Bungalow delivered. On top of that, Cristina and Ed were gracious and welcoming hosts. If you are looking to relax and unplug, this should be your destination. We’ll be back.
This was an outstanding experience. The hosts are kind, intentional, and organized while the cat, goats, ducks & chickens fill out an ensemble cast. It isn’t exactly an “old Florida” vibe but both Publix & Whole Foods are over an hour (plus a boat ride) away. Amaze your followers with the words “secluded cabin on a private island” but be prepared to bring your own mimosas and canapés.
This island cabin was truly a magical experience. The cabin itself is gorgeously decorated, comfortable, and scenic. The animals on the property are charming and add such a layer of fun. The hosts are readily available but give space for your own adventure. I had a perfect trip there with my two children and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again! Perfect combination of remote and exciting but cozy and safe.
What a unique and cozy stay! The hosts were incredibly friendly all around and had no shortage of fun activities to recommend to us. Since the venue is on an island, we took advantage of their water taxi service, canoed around the waters, lounged around the farm animals, ate some fresh eggs, and biked through the scenic forest. Also, they invited us to join them for new years celebration, how neat! The cabin is fully furnished so we just had to bring food and clothes. The days went by too fast; definitely want to visit again.
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
Me and my boyfriend stayed for two nights and three days &It was sooo peaceful there were goats, pigs, ducks, chickens & the sweetest cat ever! They were all so friendly & we loved waking up & greeting the animals.
DEFINITELY GET THE FRESH EGGS! SO YUMMY!
Honestly all you really need is food & clothes the cottage is fully furnished with everything you could need ice cold AC , comfy bed (s), WiFi, air fryer , black stone , grill , cutlery … ext.
The couple/ hosts who own the cabin are the coolest people ever, VERY welcoming! I would 10000000% come back & are already planning to .
( you can also opt & get a chartered sunset cruise around the island , take the boat out YOURSELF (or chartered ) they even also have a smaller [ still pretty big 2-5 ppl ] canoe!
You can even get the home made FRESH breakfast that I'm sure is delicioussss if you don’t feel like cooking.
This place is wonderful. If you’re on the fence about reserving, the location just do it! The host are kind and attentive. The tiny house is charming and I love the original claw foot tub. There were four of us there including my husband and two children. The children love the loft area and the basket to hoist items up. This location is secluded and serene. If you’re really looking to enjoy nature this is the place for you. We explored and enjoyed the bicycles. We saw deer armadillo and bald eagles. On the property they also have chickens, ducks, a very friendly cat. It’s also close enough to go to Saint Augustine if you want to do some touristy things. We really enjoyed the location and I’m glad we booked it but highly recommend.
