We loved tent camping here and would definitely come again. Beautiful area, the hosts are great, water was perfect and we had a great time canoeing to the spring. We brought our dog and had no issues. The site was clean, well kept, and overall great!

I loved tent camping at this location! It was the perfect getaway. The hosts were amazing and we loved being so close to the water! Will definitely return!

We loved everything about this place! Liz and Rick are the perfect hosts! We car camped for one night overlooking the creek which was amazing to wake up to. The sites are very level, which made setting up camp a breeze! I was very impressed at how clean, family friendly (games like corn hole and more) and even a swinging rope if you wanted to get wet. The sites are well equipped with fire pits, grill and even grilling tools and the portapotties were convenient and clean. We missed out on canoeing due to thunderstorms, but love that we could do that right from the campground. The sites are well spaced so you can enjoy the serenity or go visit your neighbors if you are so inclined. They also have some beautiful trails and nature abounds. They also have plugins for recharging your phones in the community area. This was my first time camping in a long time, but thanks to such a positive experience, it won’t be my last time, or last visit here.

This place is amazing! The hosts are awesome and the whole set up is amazing. We loved camping next to the beautiful peaceful river and the canoe to the springs was breathtaking we had to do it again the next day, we got rained out the second day but we still had a great time. We definitely recommend! We will definitely be back when we come back to Florida.

The nice lady there took her time with local information came and checked on us once or twice. It was serene, I was camped next to the river, a bathroom and freshwater and electrical was available. Was easy to find. I would definitely go back. I am motorcycle camping/traveling, city of Vernon was 1.3 miles away with a reasonably priced grocery store. There was a charcoal grill on site and a fire pit. I would give it four out of five stars

Camping sites over look the creek and it was super easy to get the canoe and head up to Cypress spring. It did take us about a hour to paddle up spring to get there since it was an extra windy day. Totally worth it though

I stayed at stay and play end of Feb into March. I was basically on my own at that time if you’re looking for privacy that’s the time to go. I spent one night with the owners and they were amazing. Very hospitable and friendly! The sites are big and they had a water spigot for clean water and a charging station which was great!

I have travelled a lot! 34 countries and 25+ states and most of Canada.
The peace and tranquility is what turned my "stop over" into a multi-day stay. I was in off-season so was alone in the place but the silence and sounds of the river wooed me into multiple days.
With a strong cell signal I was able to work seated beside the river for hours I'm a digital nomad so that's important for me.
I highly recommend it if you want a little slice of Heaven in the middle of nowhere - for a very reasonable price. It's not fancy...but more like a tranquil escape.

Nice property with access to Holmes creek. Kayak rental was very inexpensive and not far from the beautiful Cypress Springs. There was nice walking trail on the property as well. Elizabeth was very personable and easy to work with. I will likely return at some point.

Stay and Play at the Cypress is a fun, nice campground located on the Holmes River just a short distance from beautiful Cypress Springs. Secluded and tucked away yet very convenient to necessities in Vernon. We visited in off season so it was very quiet. Owners Rick & Elizabeth very accommodating and hospitable. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

1st time camper and it was a cool experience. Late night arrival but with the directions and signs was able to make my way. It could be off putting to some, I actually appreciated the minimal to no contact during my stay. When I needed something there was quick response and her husband came less than 10min later. I was able to explore, attempt to fish n come and go as I pleased. I'm sure there are camera's but I didn't feel watched. It rained my entire last day and night but didn't ruin the trip. There were only 2 other tent campers the 1st night and no one but me the 2nd night. I'm a black man from out of town and although protected by God, I understand whether right or wrong, we are not always welcomed or safe in places. I say that because any B/POC that see this review and concern because of location or anything it's a safe space to be yourself, not feel judged n can do it solo. Gave me the impression that it's business and respect regardless of potential personal opinions.

A Lovely Weekend Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay here. My boys loved being right on the water and there was a very convenient launch area for our paddleboard and kayak (they also have kayaks/canoes for rent). The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, but also respectful of our privacy and solitude. The young man driving the gator and moving mulch on the trails was such a hard worker - I appreciated my own teens getting to witness that! The sites are a bit close together for our personal preference but my husband ended up enjoying being able to help/instruct the young gentleman on his very first camping trip after he set up next to us!
We loved the nature, the trees, and the beautiful night skies. It was a perfect weekend away!

A very cool, private spot! Definitely primitive, but we didn't mind. The hosts answered every question I had and were super helpful before and during our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The hosts were wonderful. They were very responsive, helpful and accommodating, while giving us privacy. I love that they have the extra stuff you might want available for sale ahead of time and on site as well. I will say we wished we had brought a screened room tent as the mosquitos were bad a couple weeks after the hurricane, but we understand this is not typical. Renting the canoes to see Cypress Springs was well worth it! We wish we had more time to enjoy the property itself and we will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your space with us!
Of note to those searching, this is a beautiful, rural southern area. Being aware of the common signage you may see is important if you care about anything other than a great natural environment and a good experience/good interactions with people.

10 out of 10!!! Highly recommend!! The primitive camping sites are right on the river and each feature a grill, fire pit & picnic table! There are outdoor games and hanging areas. The also have trails to explore by the river. We tent camped the first night and got a cabin the second night. Super cute!! You can also add kayak & canoes to your stay. We rented a canoe and paddled to the Cypress Springs, which was magical! Host was amazing and very helpful!! We will be back!! You should definitely check it out for yourself!

This is an amazing spot!!! Right on the creek, there are games set up to play. Clean portapotties. We had one unwanted visitor, a copperhead snake so just be on the lookout but that comes with any camping experience. This may be our new go to local camping spot!

The Host was very friendly and helpful ! If you are wanting to play in the water you will definitely want to get a canoe or kayak as there are no easy water entrance from the camp sites. Beautiful views and a great walking trail!

Great primitive camp spot along the river. A place to unplug, unwind, play connect 4, corn hole and canoe/kayak. Grills and fire rings available. Just down stream from a beautiful FL spring. It was a relaxing getaway. Outhouse, water spicket, and charging station available. Dogs are welcome.🤗

Stay and play what an amazing and beautiful place to stay and camp! Owners are great people and very friendly and talkative!! There’s a bunch to do from lounging around either on land or in the water or walking one of there many beautiful trails they have!! The hike up to cypress springs is not bad at all depending on how fast you wanna go anywhere from 40mins to a hr. We loved the paddle to the spring! Will be back for more fun at stay and play!!

The creek was so fun to canoe! Our hosts were very helpful and kind. Our stay was in June and wasn’t busy at all. We almost had the camp to ourselves. It was a much needed get away!
